    Hello Again

WB John, great to see you back in the fold.......tight lines. Rich
  4. Sam, stick with it, the senior service is notoriously less of a discipline monster than the British Army, so wear these tides well, and enjoy a good carreer. Remember they give you your pension, it doesnt cost you a penny. These times in traini9ng will remain in your memory for years to come.......I may sound like your Dad, but remember, weve been there and done that.........and you will get througfh all the crap in training, come out the other side, and enjoy a worthwhile carreer, which will set you up for life. I will watch your progress keenly! Take care mate, and enjoy it. Rich
  5. Charlie, we are hoping to get them using stuff like spining gear, fixed spools etc. I really dont think they would handle multipliers, lol.....tangles would drop their concentration levels even further......just look how I struggle....hehe. Rich
  6. Guys, I am getting some sea fishing kit together for our school, so our little darlings can spend some time sea fishing. We are a registerred charity www.melchetcourt.com and take the guys fishing frequently. They really enjoyed the trip to H Head, so we would like to run this again. If any members have gear they no longer use, and would like to donate it to the school, please post here. I can collect either at club meetings or locally. Cheers Rich
  7. Adam, going out with Neal and john.....see you out there...maybe! Rich

  12. Cheers chap......they had a good day yesterday, plenty of small stuff up to 8lbs, loads of small tench, Roach and carp today, metal detecting, and maybe kites tonight if the wind allows, then perhaps I can have a glass of red when I get home.................hopefully!!! Rich
  13. All this about local Tuna,, the pupils from St Edwards were keen to have a go yesterday. Success!!!!!! They were extremely fortunate to land not only one, but TWO tuna rolls each, spread thinly with light flora, including cucumber trimmings. The catering manager, Mrs Elkins even provided ready salted crips, and a cereal bar for each lad. Then of course, if the school acceptable drinks list would allow, we might have washed this down with lashings of ginger beer, but this old favorite was placed on the banned drinks list a few months ago.......alas! Spurred on by reports from the PBSBAC website of great catches from local marks, the team of five chums and four intrepid staff sallied forth along the beach to their chosen mark Hengistbury Head. Tackle was expertly and lovingly set up, and the chums argued over who should tackle the monsterous items of bait required to be attached to the buisiness end of their lines. Eventually, one brave member of staff was able to risk the bites of the huge maddies in the bait box, and risked serious injury to finger tips, threading these beasties on the hooks. With lines baited, argumenets ensued over who should fish where. Instead of the sissy method of drawing straws, the St Edwards boys decided upon the ancient noble sport of swearing and mother cussing, with the most obscene being allowed to make his chosed swim. Marks and swims decided upon, these intrepid anglers fished their socks off, remaining clam and confident in their selected angling styles. One lad even managed to make friends with a local angler, who allowed the young lad to snag his line not once, but twice, to much merriment from his chums! With the tide rising steadily up their chosen mark, these five ambassedeurs for the Private school, set about catching a selection of species, including Ballans to 2.5lbs, Gobies, and Blennies, and despite furious efforrts to cast into the fast tidal flow, two of the chums were unable to bag the elusive mackeral, only making furtive jealous glances towards the locals as they bagged their tea for the evening. The five scholars enjoyed a fantastic afternoon, no eyes were blacked, no lads drowned, no staff were sacked, and we all returned to the sanctury of the school for a hearty supper. When they recounted how one of the lads was not allowed a ciggarette in public, and spat his dummy out for a few hours, how we all laughed!!!! All too soon it was showers and lights out, all the five chums soundo by 2140hrs, and looking forward to their next days adventure at Two Lakes fishery. I hear we may bag Salmon their!!!! Rich
  14. Rup, fine wire freshwater hooks around a size 12 made up the buisiness end of the rigs for these guys, switching from two up one down, to two down one up whenever mini's were showing. They fish together as a team often, which showed in their results. I enjoyed it, but mini species is not my ticket, I would have preferred a single fish of main species, with points differing on harder to catch speicies. Was interesting to see maggots being used as bait also! Rich
  15. It's my working weekend, so I will not be fishing, damn shame as the 48hr is the lardy boys fave comp of the year. Hope all who fish have a good weekend, stay safe and tight lines. Rich
  16. Billy Short......Fish fear him, women want him. Well done on the result Billy, good effort. Better than knocking ten of each out, a good comp. Rich
  17. Gents, be mindfull that superglue breaks down in saline very quickly, the better typ of glue to be used on sea knots is a two part adhesive like Mitre Mate, although this can brittle up the knot area. Have faith in your knots, if they are slipping.........you are tying them incorrectly or with line diameters ill matched. Rich
  18. Thanks guys, we will spend a day there either sat or sun weather permitting. Being of the naughty ilk, I hope that the groyne isnt to heavillt populated with grockles adversed to the odd outburst of swearing from youngsters who swear they eat teuretti spaggheti for lunch!!! Im sure wew'll winkle a few tiddlers out. Will post a report after. Rich

  24. Guys, this coming weekend is one of my working weekends at school, I normally take six lads fishing, concentrating on freshwater lakes, either in school grounds or at a private venue owned by a good friend. I'd like to introduce them to salt water fishing, with wrasse, pollack macjeral and Gars as target species. Bearing in mind that these kids are difficult at the best of times, I would like them to be able to take a few fish througfh the day, size is unimportant, purely enough action to keep an interest. Float fishing seems the best option, to attempt to minimise tackle loss!! I have considerred harbour walls but am open to any suggestions from members please. If it helps, visit the school website to get an overview of the lads difficulties!! www.melchetcourt.com I appreciate this troops, thanks. Rich
  25. Hi troops, been searching through posts looking for a half decent hot dip galver.
