  1. indeed. but i live and learn!
  2. solved, wire between the fuse box and the battery had gone bad. annoyingly simple
  3. thanks for all your comments guys, was really useful for me to explain to the engineer what he should be doing!
  4. i dont know yet. the engineer let me down, but promised me he would be coming this week. I just havent had time to come down. I do cricket coaching, and that takes up my early summer weekends, so I have only had one of the jubilee bank holidays to look a it. But i have been doing my research on how to diagnose, and i am taking an old bilge pump with me to load the circuit, as in @Steve S suggested above. but i am hoping it is fixed, as we are coming down camping with the family for the weekend to get out!
  5. thanks Gummage. At first i thought that was the problem, as it would play up, but if you fiddled with the power plug, it would resolve the problem. So i went and bought a new power cable. Tested it at home on a car battery, all worked, so i thought i had found the problem. Seems it was a waste of money as as soon as i wired it in to the loom, it didnt work. i have an engineer going tomorrow to trace the fault.
  6. thanks also Tiddler. I have called in the engineer as i dont have time to diagnose where the fault is. If it was an old crappy boat with a bodged wiring loom, i am sure i woudl be able to find it. But i dont know how to deal with these boats that have been wired up properly! I dont have the experience to deal with that.
  7. ha, thank you.
  8. thanks Sparky. will give it a try. hopefully your name is more than just a coincidence!
  9. i drove down thursday to try and fix what i though was a problem with my gps/fishfinder power connector, but it seems i have a bigger problem. My garmin is wired in to the loom (from the factory) and has 12.6v at the power connector, but i cant get it to power up. if i take the garmin and hotwire it straight to the battery, it works, so it is not a problem with the head unit. i am stumped. anyone seen anything like this before?
  10. well i am sure something had a good meal out of it. i did the same thing last year, with a big bass. thankfully mine floated as i hadn't yet gutted it. Never feels good to be outwitted by a dead fish.
  11. oh my life
  12. after running old 2 strokes for years (i had an evinrude that was nearly as old as i am for a while) i can whole-heartedly endorse going for a new 4 stroke. You dont get the same power to weight ratio, but it never gets old having the engine start on the button, first time.
  13. speaking from experience?
  14. sorry, those pictures wont load for me. I blew a steering cable last year, was really difficult to get parts. I did eventually find the parts i needed, after much searching! But i agree with @plaicemat, i regret not upgrading to hydraulic when i had the chance. Because i am certain i dont want to go to the hassle of blowing it all apart again and threading cables through the cavities.
  15. i am sure she will be lots of fun. but those jack russell crosses can be handfulls. i had a boarder collie/russell cross, he was a complete bugger.
  16. take care all, i had omicron a couple of weeks before christmas, it is not a walk in the park as many are trying to suggest. I was completely taken out for two weeks. Not a feeling i wish to repeat. Wear FFP2 masks whenever you are in a public place.
  17. you bought a sawmill? but to be honest, the way prices for walnut are going, you would probably do nicely if you decided to rustle a few trees in the dead of night.
  18. i cant find one priced under £1500, when all the added extra bits are included!
  19. that is a really good price tiddler, and i am really keen to get one, but that is too small for me. I need a 50cm by 40cm work piece capacity as a minimum.
  20. what is the max worpiece size?
  21. easier to work than stainless steel! regretable health warning - make sure you get a bungee cord to fit over your rods in those rod tubes. One bump and they are gone!
  22. can you reach the rod holders while seated. If so, i think it is a great idea.
  23. i take my trailer in for a full service just before i do the trip too. better safe than sorry. i am looking forward to the day when i have a boat big enough to motor there in. I have always moored on the guest pontoons at mylor, but i might try penryn next year.
  24. i trailer my boat down to the fal every year too. Dont watch boat trailer fails on youtube just before you go, it makes for a nervous drive.
  25. they dont care, all they care about are negative headlines. Needs to get out there into the news cycle, but sadly it is just background noise when they are changing the law to allow raw sewage to be dumped in rivers etc.
