  1. i was in Mylor for the last week in august. The tides were forgiving so i got out every day. Didnt catch a single mac. never seen it like that in the fal in the 15 years i have been fishing there. Normally the problem is keeping them off your lure when you are after other species. But there were two tuna boats going out from mylor while i was there.
  2. just joking. I had one on my first boat for its intended use, but i found i couldnt get enough speed out of it. Do you use it to hold position against the breeze in deep water?
  3. getting home!
  4. i dont think the 54lbs of thrust from that electric outboard will do you much good out there!
  5. wow. how far out did you have to go to get that?
  6. i can help, if you are based anywhere near west london. I do a lot of woodworking and have a pillar drill.
  7. damn it, wife has organised a social event for this weekend. does that count as grounds for a divorce?
  8. never ceases to amaze me the amount of people with more money than common sense. Glad to hear you were both relatively unharmed. I will never forget seeing a 40ft sunseeker grind over a pebble bar that i was standing on in chichester harbour. We were out fly fishing the harbour, standing on the bar, when this sunseeker came hammering through the harbour at a big speed, straight towards us and ran straight over the gravel bar and just kept going like nothing had happened.

certainly Frank, many thanks. will do. I am probably coming down this weekend and will try to swap to the dry stack then. will drop you a line. Can do it either way, either asking you do do the drop off or pick up. Matt

well this is a co-incidence, i was just dropping in to see if any of the retired members, with towbar!, would fancy a small job of collecting my boat trailer from Dolphin trailers in poole and dropping it back at rockley for me? I can drop it there, but he isnt willing to keep it until the following weekend for me to collect. Havent booked anything yet, so i am flexible about date. And i would insist on paying somebody for doing it for me. Cost me £50 to get a pro to do it, so i would be happy to pay the same rate.
  11. painful to hear! i would be interested, but my next boat needs to have a head. And i can confirm that those nordic boats are built to last and can cope with just about anything. I think they build them with those nordic granite shorelines in mind. But i am sure you will get a good price for her in the current market. Mark at stingray in cobbs deals in nordic boats and has always struck me as a straight as you can be for a used boat dealer.
  12. wow, never had one over 2 lb. mind you, if they were the size of other commercial white fish, i am sure there wouldnt be any left!
  13. yup, they are damn fine eating fish. just a shame they dont grow bigger
  14. brand new and un-used, bought the wrong size. Only opened the packet to measure it. £50 and will post. advertised on ebay for more as well so will go to first offer, but happy to sell it cheaper on here.
  15. wow, he looks like he has taken a bit of a beating. looks like it has been in a net it a line
  16. lampreys! cant they let the other fish in and keep lampreys out!
  17. yes, my experience is that a "rational price" is zero, because the amount the purchaser will have to spend on replacing everything means you may as well spend a few more quid and get a brand new trailer! But thankfully nothing about boating is rational. But cast your net wide and wait for someone who needs it to come along. If you can sit on it for a while, list it on ebay, but not as an auction, and what for the right buyer to come along for about £750. But you can mitigate this by checking all the components and list their state of repair on the sale listing. An example would be to look at the 'disposable' parts. Are the tires ok? are they less than 10 years old (at which point they have to be replaced by law), is the winch working and lubrcated? is the hitch functioning?
  18. I spoke to Mark at stingray boats in Cobbs yesterday, I bought my current boat from him last year. I had a quick look on his website at his current stock, nothing listed. I was a bit concerned he was having health issues, and not working. But no, he cant keep the boats in stock long enough to get them listed on the web. He said as they are coming in, they sell overnight. Told me he could sell my boat again to return me a profit, even after fees. But advised me not to sell it if i was looking to upgrade as i wouldn't be able to find a replacement. Difficult time to be buying a boat.
  19. and obviously the same goes without saying that even though we have never actually met, you are welcome on death trap II, but you might want to wait till we eventually upsize size to something more comfortable! Communities like these where people look after each other are so important and the people who keep them going are the best people in the world. That deserves our recognition.
  20. always sad to hear of people parting with their boat!
  21. definately, but i dont want to be on a swing mooring. I really loath the distance to get out from rockly to the bay, but you do get a lot of flexibility from them. If i want to swap to go on the racks to take my trailer for a service, all i have to do is ask and they do it. If i need to drive in and park up the car next to my boat so i dont have to carry everything, there is plenty of room to do it. and they dont charge extra to keep your trailer there. and if the kids dont want to come out on the boat, they can play on the beach at rockly or go into the haven holiday park facilities.
  22. yes, you are supposed to pay for launching, but they never charge me! Plus you get free parking. Davies is a similar price, but they are really tight and no parking. Cobbs is twice that amount
  23. I am in rockly. £1500 per year one trailer. Apparently Davies boatyard is about the same. But they are always full. Didn't know about North haven.
  24. maybe, but i would be worried about the force going through it when breaking. whatever happens, i think i need to swap out for rollers or wider snubbers. I will see if i can raise it next time I am there
