Big enough to require a braked trailer...and that brings extra looking after....if you trail.
  3. What's happened to those nice looking windows now ??? Seen this so many times !!
  4. yes !!
  5. Bream I catch are often full of green weed. Whatever was colouring the water we saw yesterday must be very, very small particles and very mobile in moving water....don't think it would stay or blanket anything.....just get swept away to somewhere very calm where it would settle. I'll be trying again next week in the smaller tides.
  6. Looks like Mon / Tues this eve
  7. Yep ...already has !!
  8. next weekend ...on ...may be worth looking at as the big tides drop
  9. I'll be out in the morning........not sure for how long
  10. I saw a tiny window of opportunity that coincided with HW this morning...all calm at home and live websites confirmed no wind, so set off into traffic at 8. At the quay, 15mins later, am greeted with crashing waves and a nasty easterly wind kicking things up on the Bar .... Ughh ! Watched it for 15mins......and it was pretty consistent......so thought better of it and came back home [through more traffic!] for my coffee ! Hope for better luck tomorrow.......though that window has closed a bit [it could be a little morning session rather than the whole day]. Big tide !!.........water was surging up onto quay. Alun.

.....and there being flounders around now ! I've not had one the past two times I 've been out.
  12. No.....that's a big box !! [ 2 to lift it if there's anything in it !]
  13. Nice one Steve...how big was the flounder? ...it looks reasonable in photo. I managed a couple my end, but heavy, turbid river water didn't help. Alun.
  14. Very slow today.....just a couple. It was nice to be out in the sun.....and even a wave from Rob on the shore. Wonder how the Poole boys have done??? Alun.
  15. Back to the theme..........I 'm having a look tomorrow.........and again midweek. .....but not far !!
  16. Tuesday and/or Wednesday next week........a decent window???
  17. Tomorrow , hopefully, unless it pours again.
  18. There's the prospect of a window next Tuesday. Can anyone believe it ? If it holds.....might anyone be thinking of a trip out ?? Alun.
  19. ....with no bait ? !!
  20. It didn't last long....and I couldn't get any worms over here early on !
  21. ...anyone going out tomorrow...to take advantage of the only window in prospect ?? It's still holding this evening. Alun.
  22. He's away.....off skiing.....or on the piste !!
  23. Apologies from me too......social engagement......no traveling for me. ALUN.
  24. According to that and another paper I found, the timing of migration is temperature dependant. In colder years they move away earlier [and my experience concurs with that over the past couple of cold ones]....so, with the mild weather this winter, I hope they stay a bit later [i have had good catches in early Feb., but never as late as the school half term hol. in mid Feb]. Hope to give it a couple more goes [with a bit more confidence].
  25. There's a little break in the wind tomorrow...allbeit a colder day, a big tide and short lived !! An opportunity to get a few of the last flounders before they go off to spawn. I've been trawling the net for more info on their movements and found this , which may interest a few of you ... Site fidelity, homing and spawning migrations of flounder Platichthys ...www.int-res.com/articles/theme/m430p183.pdf‎ Alun.
