  1. Many Happy Returns Charlie.....have a good day. Cheers, Alun.
  2. All seemed to work much the same !! As long as your bait is well-presented [flat on the bottom], there didn't seem much difference. Mackerel or launce. ...fillet , flapper or whole. Have a good trip...forecast holding nicely....you should have a much more comfortable fish than we did !!
  3. Oli....looks a promising forecast for next weekend....Are you still going?? Any other boats ? [ Dave , Kev. ??]
  4. Update ! Oli are you still going with your original plan ? Saturday looks like it could be a windy day. This morning we are looking at going Sunday to Weds. Any other boats ?? Alun.
  5. Usually manage a day on each....last year the wind made the choice when we went to the South banks
  6. Oli...we may be a day behind you...better tides are Sat to Tues....but it will be the wind that decides !
  7. ok Matt....let me know how many beds you'd want.
  8. After being blown off for this past weekend, we are now looking at the next neaps in 2 weeks time Tigerfish is planning on going [poss Sat to Tues for the best tides] I have some accommodation provisionally booked....but there is room for some others. Are any other boats thinking of going over that weekend ? Alun
  9. April 1st !!
  10. They've been here in the UK since 1888....accidently brought in with a consignment of oysters from the US [probably into Southampton].....and now smother much of the South and SE coast. I don't know when they moved around Landsend....they weren't in South Wales when I was there in the 60's....and I first came across them in the early 70's when I was a student and used to fish beaches in Sussex. They were a good bait [or bait addition] then, and still are....esp after a blow. The points above, are all an attempt to slow their progress into new habitats......whatever we do here will have no consequence....just don't take them on a trip !!
  11. Steve...link to Ian is fine from mine...both email and link from here. Alun.
  12. I can collect for Ian...at the AGM [??] Alun.
  13. A couple of other boats are looking to go over the following weekend..on the Bank Hol .....but the tides are bigger !
  14. Happy Birthday...but one for cuddling up inside Cheers, Alun.
  15. Hi Peter, You are boohed in with us...4 beds..three nights,
  16. Back to the Alderney thread......... If weather allows, Steve is planning on taking Tigerfish and crew across on the Sunday after the dinner...and staying until Weds. I'm sorting accommodation and have some spaces. Is anyone else looking to join us and would like me to sort out beds ?? Alun.
  17. not quite Steve....2 - 8 for a flounder. ...but... Well done Lofty...I recognise the location. Just finished the ones I had up there Tues. Had a few my end yesterday....but not so big , Alun.
  18. Is that date for the dinner confirmed ?? There's nothing on the calendar !
  19. OK....Who's making plans ?? Our preferred date, around the May Bank Hol Mon....is a full moon and, consequently, a big tide. The next weekend , frm Fri May 8th is a lot better.....but the week earlier , from Fri Apr 24 is an even better tide. If anyone wants to go on either of those dates, and would like to take me [!!], I have accommodation pencilled in . Alun.
  20. Yeh !! I'm talking historically...us 'old timers'. .....but I would love a decent perch ! Haven't had one since I used to go on fishing hols in Ireland .
  21. ....but most don't taste so good !! ...with a few exceptions....Perch are super ; zander and pike are good ...as are , surprisingly,... gudgeon ! Alun.
  22. I don't mind either .
  23. Forecast for Sunday is much improved,,,,,might that be a better day for more people ??
