Very few mackerel....plenty of launce in some spots...few in others

Perhaps we were using the wrong bait !! Small sample I know...but all three flatties we had were full of weavers they'd eaten !....mostly tiddly little ones ! ....and we caught quite a few weavers ourselves...so no excuse....only hindsight !

Thanks all....just back from Alderney trip with the best weather ...and the poorest fishing !!....and it wasn't just us...everyone's been struggling! I expect Adam will post a more detailed report [though shouldn't take long !] 3 of us fished hard for best part of three days for meagre returns. ......but we had a fun time !!

Ian seemed to think they get sent East and get processed to produce some sort of mock scampi !

That's in southern Brittany ....quite a long way away ! Last winter conger seemed in 'plague ' proportions ...inshore .....and that film was from a few yrars ago.

Jim...rather than struggling to get the hook out [ it's this gripping and pulling that does the damage] , it's much better to cut the hook line as close to hook as poss and handle fish less. They cope with eating some very spikey and hard foods ! Alun. PS Well done for getting out.....it was blowing a near gale over here yesterday pm.

Having sorted this lovely little car for my daughter this time last year, she's now moved to London and doesn't need a car. Nigel did the cambelt change and serviced it. It is a little 2007 diesel that is incredibly economical to run and even the tax is only £30 / yr. Good condition and drives well. She's asking £1300. I was going out for some whiting..but it was a lot more bumpy/windy than forecast....so came in and used up some worms in Christchurch harbour. Where are all the flounders ??...only managed three. Bit of a swell running over the Bar...made for a challenging out / in. Glad I came in early as it got bigger later... I watched one one the commercials coming in about 3.30.....coming in through surf...a big breaker hit it side on! If it had been anything other than a cat, it could have gone over !
