  1. Woke to a calm morning today,,,,first for a week....and looks to stay for a while. Hard to remember the last trip to Alderney when it was calm...it might have been the first two trips on JV [ 1 ] ! When was that Adam ? 2009 ??
  2. Quote "For those with tenders, it may be wise to pick up a mooring on arrival and leave the tender on it for the day". >>>> If there's any space Terry !! If they are all full, where would you put it ?
  3. It will have been too rough !!....until we get there !!
  4. Sounds like Rob is keen !
  5. Anyone else thinking of joining us for Alderney this coming weekend ?? Forecast looks good [or even VERY good !] the tides are small and accommodation is available. Sat to Mon on Steve's super, duper Tigerfish.
  6. A week away ....and weather looking good for Plan A
  7. Anyone planning to go to Alderney next weekend Aug 8 th and 9th...and would like B and B give me a call/ pm Alun.
  8. Most suited for when the camp site field gets flooded...rather than a trip around Poole Harbour on a typically breezy summer's day. If it put out an anchor I bet it would soon fill with water if there was anything other than flat calm !
  9. Good call !! 20mph 'breeze' ..with drizzle.....not nice fishing conditions !...even in the harbour. Any alternative date ??
  10. Thanks all.....relaxing day on the beach...with a cycle along the prom. Met Lofty [about to launch] at Branksome....await his report...it looked nice out there! Now cooking a plaice supper... with family...and lots of birthday 'fruit' juice !! 'Hic' !! Will I be fit to go out tomorrow?????????

    Anchor Trip

What stops the clip sliding off the link after it's tripped?
  12. Many Happy Returns Charlie.....have a good day. Cheers, Alun.
  13. All seemed to work much the same !! As long as your bait is well-presented [flat on the bottom], there didn't seem much difference. Mackerel or launce. ...fillet , flapper or whole. Have a good trip...forecast holding nicely....you should have a much more comfortable fish than we did !!
  14. Oli....looks a promising forecast for next weekend....Are you still going?? Any other boats ? [ Dave , Kev. ??]
  15. Update ! Oli are you still going with your original plan ? Saturday looks like it could be a windy day. This morning we are looking at going Sunday to Weds. Any other boats ?? Alun.
  16. Usually manage a day on each....last year the wind made the choice when we went to the South banks
  17. Oli...we may be a day behind you...better tides are Sat to Tues....but it will be the wind that decides !
  18. ok Matt....let me know how many beds you'd want.
  19. After being blown off for this past weekend, we are now looking at the next neaps in 2 weeks time Tigerfish is planning on going [poss Sat to Tues for the best tides] I have some accommodation provisionally booked....but there is room for some others. Are any other boats thinking of going over that weekend ? Alun
  20. April 1st !!
  21. They've been here in the UK since 1888....accidently brought in with a consignment of oysters from the US [probably into Southampton].....and now smother much of the South and SE coast. I don't know when they moved around Landsend....they weren't in South Wales when I was there in the 60's....and I first came across them in the early 70's when I was a student and used to fish beaches in Sussex. They were a good bait [or bait addition] then, and still are....esp after a blow. The points above, are all an attempt to slow their progress into new habitats......whatever we do here will have no consequence....just don't take them on a trip !!
  22. Steve...link to Ian is fine from mine...both email and link from here. Alun.
  23. I can collect for Ian...at the AGM [??] Alun.
  24. A couple of other boats are looking to go over the following weekend..on the Bank Hol .....but the tides are bigger !
  25. Happy Birthday...but one for cuddling up inside Cheers, Alun.
