  1. I confidently predict I will be long gone Sunday by the time you get back! Good luck with the fishing - everyone.
  2. back with my own pc I have doenloaded the raw data for portland to iow and it's giving 4.0 knots N at 0900h on the ledge and 4.6 N of St Albans and round west. these decrese to 2 and 2.2 by 1200 and the same by 1500h but from NNW bummer
  3. haven't even started - last Sunday was a little wet for putting anything on! preparation, preparation, preparation - hopefully application will now be quick and easy! (although I have a fair bit of filling to do on the skeg and some more gel coat filler........... but then there's the cutting and waxing - poor old hull hasn't been done for 6 years (er well ever...actually) - determined to get all this done properly rather than the lure to rush things and get back in the water. looking more and more like the quote I was given to do all this would have been good value............
  4. you shouldn't be using either for more than a cursory 'nothing more than a 4 around and mainly from the SW' - they are far too general and ignore the effects of sea/land temperatures etc. pleanty of raw data models out there from downloadable programs that suck down the latest data and prepare an analysis on your PC to those that simply display the latest 'predictions' real shame theyr.net went commercial as it was excellent for this - windguru for example (which is giving you a great day Sunday and probably Monday too for anyone fortunate to get out then!). If the system slows a bit you might see the lower end of a 4 early Sun but I doubt it. Poole Bay will be fine either way! If the conditions are bad feel free to pop over and help with the antifouling!!!
  5. thanks Charlie - great help to most peope that; all they need to know now is their boats airdraft! personally I have to run my radar dome between the transverse supports most tides - but that of course is my problem! btw do we have a list of the cctv points in the harbour? I am aware of one on the top of the post by the small starboard hand buoy just inside the harbour, and another on one of the big 3 posts on the dock, but others?
  6. more like replacing the mice with hamsters................

    Wiring

welll a wiring rationalisation is certainly on the list for Phaeton - I have made piecemeal replacements over the last 6 years but ought to do the whole lot now the rest of the OS bits are pretty much done. certainly interested in connectors / sealed spades etc
  8. oh goody - perfect for antifouling!
  9. you don't know what you would have been missing - georgeous day.......... lovely day for messing about in (with) boats! Dave is determined to remove every baranacle so we can keep up with AWOL on the run out to marks!
  10. ooooooooooo we like boat piccies........... here's one I snapped a few weeks ago (Fred testing his new boat?) off Old Harry.....

    6lb Bream

I am surpised such a small fish would get so much attention .............
  12. conger and blondes on the banks 7 miles south of the needles smaller tides - more conger larger tides - more rays (and bigger rods and leads!)
  13. don't worry about what you are doing - just do the same again! Nice fish Moz. Thanks for posting
  14. no I don't now Kam - I get an email version. what I was saying was that I thought that was because I had asked for it that way - and those that hadn't got paper!
  15. Ahoy, That's interesting - I had thought the paper newsletter was still issued (I kept trying to get mone stopped becasue of the wasted cost to the club and trees.....). Look forward to the formal response! With reference to the wider 'internet' element there is no doubt in my mind that there is a club within a club when it comes down to the web presence and forums. However, as someone who lives 141 miles from the slipway; has managed 1 club night in 4 years; doesn't trail & generally fishes only the majors (48hr, ray-flat/open) I have to say that somehow I have shaken hands with at least 40 members and find it an amazingly accomadating club overall! The introduction of the minor 'do' Sunday night after the 48hr is an excecllent example of how the committee have taken forward the people thing in line with the web presence. On th eother hand if you simply aren't going to get out fishing at all or attend any club events, then I suppose membership makes little sense as there is no joining fee and someone can rejoin in the future when thier circumstances change (for the better!)

    Dsc Radio

yes yes hidden/mounted properly configure the 128's com post and select NMEA as the message - pick the latest message it offers probably 0183 2.0 but maybe only 1.5. Baud rate doesn't matter (shouldn't). check the silva is happy with that message in it's configuration software. don't forget that the eradio needs to have the MMSi number programmed to show your position on screen. good luck - people with silva's do have problems; sometimes insurmountable!
  17. I'm happy to pay the weather gods for the 48hr and Adam and Rachael's weekend..........you can fish for bream in any weather!!!
  18. SW would be fine for Poole boats as this would give Poole Bay shelter surely Adam? Personally I don't even leave the harbour with winds in SSW to E quadrant unless they are cyclonic F1! even a F2 SE gives a miserable sea and poor conditions in the harbour entrance against any ebb. NE through W up to 5/6 W/SSW 4/5 but whilst the conditions associated with the above 'on the day' winds will be 'safe' from Poole obviously they need to be considered against tides and underlying swells for comfort!
  19. ta - you didn't think you could get rid of me that easily did you? Hoping for some great trips with AWOL and GW2 (or whatever) when Charlie gets his finger out and finishes her off [exit stage left mode]whoops [/exit stage left mode]. Phaeton will be out over the next couple of wekends for winter maintenace - seem to have managed 42 engine hours this year already..........and whilst I have done the engine bits I can't do the drive or antifouling sat on the berth! Not big into bream comps anyway - too much luck involved
  20. Conger - Alun knows the scheduled date (next Sunday) but also has an insight into next Sunday's weather (via a forecast not any new 6th sense I trust!) and, with the following Sunday's bream comp and other date's is asking what the contingency is likely to be..................
  21. well I had the envelope for you yesterday but missed you - trust you had a good trip out! will use the postman.................
  22. just be rigged adn stowed for boat wakes - the forecast will have the solent Poole run packed as xchannels look poor against the forecast Sun/Mon
  23. west might get you out of the crowds.................Sat will be manic
  24. good choice dan
  25. May's just starting! defeatest................
