  8. I would really appreciate sight of the one for the west of the Anvil - can't find it in any of my Sea or Boat angler????????? please? Re Poole Bay I haven't seen one, and whilst we started on one on here it never really took off..........tiem to revisit?
  9. basically the fish move with the tide - on a flood they are the other side of the brifge - on the ebb they are sitting around the pontoons etc in ambush. Yet to see how the dredging effects things. However - it's not really accessable for fishing! Pontoons are a no no and security has been beefed up significantly; more to be implemented yet. The new holding pontoon arrangements prevent access from the 'undeveloped' shoreline and access to the bridge itself is being prevented. The revised layout also restricts / prevents some of the older 'pick ups' for boats too. Personally it believe that if you have a boat the area around the marine camp is significantly more productive for quality and quantity although of course restrictions on bass fishing from a boat apply all around that area (and most of the harbour!)
  10. World News Catfish proved too strong for fisherman Fish Drags Man To Death Updated: 11:47, Wednesday May 10, 2006 A Hungarian fisherman has drowned while trying to catch a 150lb catfish. Gabor Komlosy was dragged into a river when he refused to let go of the line. The 53-year-old's body was later pulled from the Szamos river still clinging to his rod. The 4ft monster catfish was still hooked on the end. Police in Hungary believe he had been yanked down the bank of the river by the fish. It had then pulled him through the water until he hit his head on a rock and drowned. A spokesman said: "When we pulled in his line, the fish was still stuck on the end."

    Anchor Trip

we are clearly going to have to agree to disagree. you use words like frustration when I see danger - 3 knots of tide 20 yds off a rocky headland ........... I assume you use 4mm braid for your anchor rode recovering to a nice neat hand frame? It's going to have many times the load capacity of your trip, will handle the rocovery of anchor /chain by alderney ring or by hand and is both cheap and easy to store. As has been emphasised many times your anchor and associated rode is one of the most important safety features on a small boat; it needs to be available for immediate deployment in a fully working state at all times.

    Anchor Trip

Oh I am sure it is really............. I take your point about being aboard, however the implication of this is that you accept that it is possible that the anchor rigged this way may trip in use. There are a number of circumstances where I feel the risks associated with this happening exceed any possible benefits (and by the way I can't actually see any benefits over one rigged without slack!) 1. Anchored uptide of overfalls 2. Anchored on a wreck - even a tripped anchor will quickly snag on any serious sized wreck; great paradox - you risk loosing your anchor because it's rigged to avoid loss!
  22. too true.............
  23. oi PJ - you have had enough for a year. Leave them for someone else!
  24. I could get Phaeton under it most tides/times by lowereing the VHF ariel before I added the raised Radar.......... Can't see Otter being a problem
  25. Penn 320 GTi comes in LH as the 321, star or lever drag I think.
