  3. UUuuuumm I see plenty of media coverage for the club here Tom my boat is out of production and there aren't to many about in the UK and they cost to much but you are welcome to come out and review AWOL so long as you drive considerately like what I do Martin
  4. Hi Shane I deal with some of the forum admin. As yet I have not had confirmation of your joining from the membership sec or our treasurer however as you will discover the club is run on trust so I have updated your status accordingly. Enjoy the rest of the site. Martin
  5. Good point are there any kayakers planning to fish this comp? Best specimen comp easily winnable from within one of the harbours or just a short paddle from the shore! Come on lads join in the comps, the rules were change to allow you to enter take advantage of that. Martin
  6. Unfortunately for you that is still the rule Alan Martin Got me confudled now Martin Does that mean I am unfortunate because my boat is too long so any catches from onboard don't qualify, or is it because my boat is below the length limit therefore I have no excuse and need to catch/record some fish For the record Navy Blues is comfortably below the limit at 9.5m (31 ft) (A bit smaller than the other club galleon) Getting tempted to enter the comp now if I can be certain of being in club waters long enough to get a line over the side ... Apologies Alan I thought your new boat was larger than that Martin
  7. I have added you profile piccy to your avatar. Its a little small but best I can do with that piccy. You can change it any time you like by going into your controls and playing around Martin
  8. Shane you have posted your picture in your profile. This will only be seen when visitors visit your profile page. For all to see you will need to either post in your avatar or embed in a post as above Martin
  9. Hi Shane and welcome to the club As Jim says keep your picture size to 128k or less and you should have no problem. There is some useful info on how embed photos in the forum in THIS THREAD If you need further help just ask Martin
  10. An older couple is lying in bed one morning. They had just awakened from a good night's sleep He takes her hand and she responds, 'Don't touch me.' 'Why not?' he asked. She answered, 'Because I'm dead.' The husband asked...'What are you talking about? We're both lying here in bed together and talking to one another!' She said, 'No, I'm definitely dead.' He insisted, 'You are not dead. What in the world makes you think you're dead?' 'Because I woke up this morning and nothing hurts.' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember... 11. A man and his wife were awoken at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. "Not a chance," says the husband, "it is 3:00 in the morning!" He slams the door and returns to bed. "Who was that?" asked his wife.. "Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers. "Did you help him?" she asks. "No, I did not! It is 3:00 in the morning and it is pouring rain out there!" "Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you remember about three months ago when we broke down in the rain and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!" The man gets dressed and goes out into the pounding rain. He calls out into the dark, "Hello, are you still there?" "Yes," comes back the answer. "Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband. "Yes, please!" comes the reply from the dark. "Where are you?" asks the husband. "Over here on the swing," replied the drunk.

  14. That's a good idea and would certainly help those less experienced members and may even broaden their horizons. Unfortunately for you that is still the rule Alan Martin
  15. Been away all week end and only just spotted this Well Done Bobi you showed the guys the way to go Martin
  16. Why should we now change the rules for one comp after 18 years of club history? Why should any of the members activities that are in line with the clubs long standing rules be restricted as and when others feel (incorrectly) at a disadvantage? Since the club was formed it's club waters have been from St Catherines in the east to The Bill of Portland to the west and as far south as you care to go. All it's competitions are and have always been based on these limits. The only real limit is each and every skippers personal ability or that of his craft. If your fish are caught within the defined area above they count for all our comps. I believe that most if not all our 48 hour comps have been won by boats this side of the channel with the large majority of fish being caught close enough inshore for most if not all the club boats having the opportunity to win. I can remember when I first joined this club owning a Hardy fishing 17. Even then club boats went to Alderney fairly regularly and fished mid channel frequently. I entered all the comps including the 48 hour and can remember at the time thinking I wish I could go over to Alderney or fish mid channel but it wasn't to win the comps it was just to take part in the adventures. Inshore offshore fish it or don't fish it's your choice. Either way is fine so long as we all have regard for the rules that have been in place for 18+ years Martin

  21. It just goes to show that we should all be ready just in case something untoward happens. That boat would not of taken much more tide up the stern before going under, I wonder did the chap have a suitable knife at the ready? always easy with hind site but its also good to learn from others experience instead of our own Well done to SLB I just hope I never need their assistance but it's good to know they are there just in case! now where's me small change for the collection box Martin
  22. I'm watching and laughing Martin
