Much better to give the set a position that way in the event of an emergency and when you push the dsc button it will not only send a distress signal but will also give your position to the recipients Martin

  24. Multiplaitt or octiplait are the best warps to use as they are nice and soft, have plenty of stretch and coil beautifully. The only downside is the cost of the stuff. Chain is a must with whatever warp you decide to use it has three functions the first is to hold the stem of the anchor down so your flukes (or whatever) have a direct full along the sea bed therefore helping your anchor to set, 2 is to assist in cushioning the jerks/snatch that will happen on the anchor so helping it to stay held and 3 to stop chafe to your warp. With a decent rope and chain anchoring set up you will need less scope than using rope that doesn't stretch or inadequate chain. The benefit of a better anchor set up will be noticed more the deeper you try and anchor. On AWOL I have a 7 kilo Bruce main anchor with 140 metres of 12mm multiplait and 10 metres of chain. Rarely is there a problem with the anchor holding. Deck hardware should not be a problem so long as a decent backing plate has been fitted behind your anchor post/cleat. Martin
