Flat days tend to be best lol, only joking. Winds from the north around to south west are best offer the best chance of shelter. Winds from the east and south no shelter available in the bay. High pressure helps to flatten seas slightly. Wind against tide will create larger waves conversely wind with tide will see flatter seas.
There's an old saying "when the wind blows from the east the fish feed least when the winds from the west the fish bite best. Probably a load of cobblers but who knows?
