  1. Ah but Adam can see into the future Dean and I tagged along and fished south of IOW drifting banks and the bridge. Not brilliant tides but we did ok. We had six or seven with my largest Bass going 5lb 10oz As Adam says brilliant day to be afloat Martin

  4. Lol nice one John typical holiday incident Lucky the bilge pump didnt create a spark when it kicked in would have made a nice bang Martin
  5. Dean and I are going to have a look in the morning. Don't expect to get out past the needles with that forecast but can fish the ledge or maybe alum bay? We will try and be at the slip for 7.30ish Martin

  9. Thanks Peter Martin
  10. Mike What distances do you travel for your 10 galls or 45.5litres? Comparing between my boat and your boat is not really a fair comparison but you may find it useful. Maverick has a new generation Direct injection 2 stroke. The engine is a 150 hp with a big 6 cylinder 2.5litre block. She will cover approximately 1 mile per litre which when you consider the size of boat, speeds we can travel and the weight of the boat it ain
  11. Adam I have used wick but not for about 10 years so yep if you fancy it would be good to follow another boat out Pete Have had experience of them Island Tope pinching baits intended for Bass. Would you just fish any of the banks South East of the Needles? Martin
  12. Weather permitting Dean and I will launch at Wick this saturday and try for a day out to the the island. Anyone else going out sat? Martin
  13. Details of soton boat show here Martin
  14. Sorry I left it so late to post a catch report on Mavericks day but I was totally whacked after the Weymouth trailaway . Overall the day was nothing if exciting, huge waves in the Portland race, at one point a tide of 7 knots and loads of boats around made it shall we say interesting: Our promise of eels did not materialise and it was only bye chance at lunchtime that I managed to scrounge a few from Eddie but we were lucky to get them. It seems that he looks after his regulars first whether you have booked em or not and I suppose you cant knock him for that. On the fish front we fared reasonably well with about eight bass onboard, the largest going to Dean at around 3.5lbs Mark had his fair share with me being a late starter not catching until well into he afternoon but then getting one a drift for a while. As Adam said it seems as though you got fewer fish on Joey
  15. Good to see the younguns catching and releasing but when do the olders members of Pinafore crew catch theirs Martin
  16. Nice one Stuart, good to keep em interested Hope we have a good day tomorrow....expectations are high but we will see. Funny old game this sea fishing lark Martin
  17. Maverick will be there with Dean, Mark B and of course me as crew. See you all on the slip bright and early Martin
  18. Dave we are trailing to Weymouth on Sunday early am, James is booked in to come along. Re DeGraff trailers I have seen them but do not have or know of anyone with experience of them. They look ok but the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say. Indespension who market their own brand Hallmark trailers now have a store in Stanley Green Road, Poole. I am picking up a brand new trailer from them on Saturday, they are nice people to deal with. The trailers look pucka even if a tad on the expensive side. I will give a report on the trailer when I have used it a bit Martin
  19. Hi Dave I know which of the two I would go for but then being a warrior owner I would be a little biased I know after talking to you that you are having difficulty launching and retreiving your Quicksilver but take a look here and especially here and you will see with the aid of a good quality trailer you should have no problem launching and retreiving even at baiter. The day the Burnham guys came to fish with us they launched at Baiter 3 quicksilvers larger than yours at near low water with ease. If you think you might keep your current boat and would like someone to have a look at your setup for another opinion then just ask Martin
  20. Mike If the reel functions ok then why not do away with the level wind altogether? I used to have one of these reels and found them ok for light/medium inshore work. Not built for heavy duty stuff as I found out when the spool exploded Martin
