  1. Lead by example, practice what you preach and not do as I say not as I do! We can't request quotas and bag limits for commercials if we dont do our bit and take the high ground - personally if bag limits mean't that there will be mountains more fish and growing not just sustainable stocks in 10 years, then I am for them. If you look at countries like Canada and NZ who have strick limits, they also have great stocks of fish and superb sport fishing! "It is a well-known fact that RSA have a very small impact on the overall stock" - are there scientific papers? If so I woudl be interested in seeing them. Rob
  2. Mike, that is under discussion. I guess the only upside of say 33% and in the harbour is the fish don't have to travel so far, and can be released back in to the harbour. We have to be mindfull that what ever min % chosen, the fish are still above legal minimums! Rob
  3. I have a couple of Penn 525 Mag Slidy reels and one is as rough as a badger a&%e, so I decided to fix it and ensued on a hunt for new bearings. Ebay was my first call and I found a pair of new spool bearings at a reasonable price and great service - seller astonlincoln. I then found there was a bearing that sits over the shaft of the spool and is pressed in to the frame, on further research this is a new frame!!!
  4. Neal - we need to fish it and there will always be a conflict with something I'm afraid.
  5. All, Once again we have bad weather on a good tide! What has happend to this Autumn!? Please show your support and come win something!!! To b fished inside Poole Harbour should it blow again!!! Thanks Rob
  6. Open Postponed for a 5th time and will be held in Poole Harbour if weather dictates. So - Sunday November 6th is the date! Thanks Rob

    Red Gurnard

I will fill in the missing info!! Nigel and Emma run a 42ft charter boat "Wave Chieftain" that is based in Falmouth Cornwall. http://www.cornishfishing.co.uk/index_files/Skipper.htm
  8. I am amazed that the equipment on te Condor does not have a collison alert function! The Captain will be luckly to get away with manslaughter, as this if life-endangerment in my eyes. After OUZO you would hope these ferry "drivers" would be a bit more vigilant, well we can all hope! Rob
  9. I guess we cant run it this afternoon! Shame!
  10. OK let's sit on our hands and do nothing! Maybe I will start doing more coarse and game fishing again!
  11. From the Shark Trust website: The Angler Recording Project Recording the Southwest's Natural Heritage If we want to establish sustainable fisheries in Europe, we need to understand as much as possible about the distribution and abundance of our species'. For commercially important bony fish such as cod this is already reasonably well known. For the sharks, skates and rays however we know much less. To help with this, the Shark Trust is asking anglers to record their catches of all sharks, skates and rays (including dogfish) in the southwest, including Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Avon and the Scilly Isles.
  12. Welcome, not sure it is easily possible to go ott on safety gear! Well, a 6 man liferaft on a 15ft boat would be! I have been slowly adding to my selection of safety kit for the last 3-4 years. I'm fact I should book a free RNLI Sea Safety check soon as I haven't had one for 3 years. If you fancy it, details are here: http://www.rnli.org.uk/what_we_do/sea_and_...sea_safety_home You can request a check via that link. Rob
  13. Hi all, I have moved my insurance to FP Marine today. A good price and the policy was adjusted to my exact requirements (sorry for all the adjustments Dom! Next year should be easy!). Thanks Rob

    Shambles

When talking to Mark from Alderney Angling, he advised the trawler on the Schole was catching Rays, and the Turbot and Brill were too fast and spooky to be netted. A ban of trawling on half the bank would be a result! But again, long term vision required which seems short in all manners of life! Rob
  15. Have a good one! atb Rob
  16. Don't, I know!!! Maybe we could do some lake fishing!

How many of you were displaying an Anchor Ball? How else is he to know? If youdont he will assume you are drifting and head for you, assuming your drift moves you out the way by the time he gets there! Rob

Mike (codbassandi'mawelder) might be able to help. Or get a clamp on one, the it is fully adjustable. Rob
  21. Are any of the England squad boat fishermen? Could invite them I guess!
  22. Don't blame me, I didn't make this happen. Mind you it was disappointing for France to find form when we play them! So you had the 23rd free, now you know what to do, go fish the Open. Rob

    boat make

I think you have summed up everyone's thoughts there Graham! Freddy' sounds like me too! I have required engine lock (volcano), and wheel clamp & also add hitch lock. I do also find that DataTag with smart water + numerous RFID tags in hull and engine adds to the sense of security! In the hope the scum bags jog on to else where!! Rob

    Ouch

How not to look after your Sunseeker Predator 95!! "Vessel grounded when it hit a reef, off the coast of Libya on 10 July 2008. It refloated several days later and then sank in 3 to 4 meters of salt water. The boat remained submerged up to the deck level for approximately 7 weeks. Vessel has sustained underside impact damage as well as water damage to main deck level. One engine has been dismantled for inspection and remains in that condition. Both engines have been removed from the vessel for storage." Although from 2008, i thought it was interesting!!: http://www.salvagesale.co.uk/index.cfm/gen...mber/S28866-012
