  1. Does anyone know what the difference between a Mercury and a Mercury "Saltwater" is? I assume a Mercury is designed for USA Freshwater use and they do something to it to make it Marinised. And that a Mariner is the already marinised version of a mercury for the European market. Because most Mercury's over here are Saltwaters as we have little freshwater to use them on. Does anyone have a non Saltwater Mercury? If so were you told why it was not a Saltwater one and do you have to maintain it differently? Rob
  2. Indeed - make notes of what they said exactly while it is fresh in your maind - then pass on to your insurance! Who is this marina giving such poor service?
  3. Duncan is at Rockley (there are a few pontoons there).
  4. Jim - what are you doing - gonna buy another garden ornament?
  5. You might find a flush \ hose attachment on the engine - there is on my Yam - however this only flushes the block on one side of the thermostat!! Therefore, investigate your engine and speak to you local service agent. HTH Rob

    Charter Trip

Would members be interested in jumping on a Charter boat for a days fising - perhaps winter codding etc? I thought that with 10 \ 12 up it could be a good laugh and there are some skippers in teh club who never get to fish together and this could be the opportunity. Just an idea, thoughts please? Maybe we could get two boats if enough interest and have a mini comp - maybe for some Xmas booze or similar? I am just posting and idea, maybe someone fancies organising it if enough interest? I am all out of organising brain power at the mo. Rob
  15. Hi all, do we have a Coastliner close to Poole \ Bournemouth on a trailer? A guy at work is wanting a new traile for one and would like to measure one on dry land. His boat is in the water and after servicing the trailer reaslised that wood has been used in its construction!!!!! (amazing what you can hide with Hammerite). Hence the new trailer - though he can't now get his boat out the water until new trailer made to spec. Thanks all Rob

    Scales

All, When I recieved the club scales from Adam I thought it wise to check them as with a specimen comp weight is vital as an ounce out of a 6lb fish can make an awful lot of difference to a result (an ounce on a 40lb conger is more acceptable). I found that the club scales were accurate after 10lb but before that they weren't great - so we opted to use a nice set of digital scales from Neal Sturt. If people are interested in testing their scale with some calibrated weights I might be abel to help and borrow some from work. These weights have been proffesionally calibrated. Let me know and we could do something at a club evening. Though unlikely to have a draw we did this year, we had a tie at 9th with 90.63% on 2 different species! Rob
  17. All, If I bring a PC to the meeting on Thursday could you bring photos from the Open on memoery cards \ usb stickes etc please? I need them in full resolution not resized small and emailed. BFM are interested in seeing what we have got and they could well feature in the report for the mag (Nov issue out in October). Cheers Rob
  18. Nice one Adam - thanks for taking them. Also, thanks for your help at the weigh-in, much appreciated. See you Thursday. Rob

    Open Comp

Next year? - what has that got to do with me? I am sure I said I wouldn't do it again unless I won!
  20. I hope to post a list of prizes that were won.
  21. Thanks to all those that helped with the build up - from talking to sponsors, helping with ideas, distributing leaflets and posters, passing on advice and answering my stupid questions! On the day I apologise that I was late for the weigh-in by 10 mins - a small undulate (5lb something) was sat on my bait as we lifted the rods to head back in! I think I need heavier gear to ray fish as an uber light rod and 20lb braid lead to a 10 min struggle!!! With heavier seas in the harbour than outside progress was slow (due to no vis as water was dumped over the windscreen). Thanks to my helpers on the day, you know who you are and I appreciate the effort there was much to do and mostly all at once!! However, I enjoyed the day, though missed out on the prizes!!!! Cheers Rob
  22. Here are the results: .
  23. Looked good - nice to see them swim off. When I helped stock a "Big Fish" trout water the fish where thrown over the shoulder in from a 8 foot long landing net - they hit the water from 10 ft with a great splosh and it wakes them up - much better than a quiet release as the stress of being in a holding tank on and landy could kill em. Mind you it was hard work with 10lb + fish!
  24. Morning - lets make the most of this and get going - there are fish to be caught and prizes to be won. And food to be eaten and beer to be crunk afterwards! Enjoy and tight lines (not as tight as mine though please!!) All the best, Rob
  25. Welcome Steve - this Year we have a kayak section and a kayaker on the commitee. See this section : http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=165 There are plenty of "Nutters" in the club and I am sure they will glad for you to tag along, I expect one will paddle past this thread soon and say helllo. They might even convince you to join teh club proper!!!! Tight lines, Rob
