    weekend

Nigel - sounds like you're too tidy onboard - I have been out before without any weights, but found a dozen here and there! Tidied the console last weekend and found at least 10+ hooks of various sizes! Am i suspecting an emergency selection of hooks line and weights will be tucked somewhere soon? Well done for getting out and more for admitting it!!! Rob
  9. Another one Trev! Blimey, will we be seeing signs for "Trev's Trailers" in the yellow pages?

    Lyme

It's happening - a few destructive fishermen may have to do something else - it that a shame? http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/archive/2...es_of_fishing_/
  12. PM Trevor "Wedger" - He has had his bottom "done" recently!
  13. No need to be mean Brian
  14. Nice one Derek. "Rob's Rock" no one told me about that!! Rob
  15. Cuddy, cabin, shelter - what's wrong with you all? A small folding cuddy is light, keeps off the wind and allows fishing access all round when down. Mind you - I do have a sore throat and sunday was cold! OK - maybe it is a good idea, that's why I have friends with boats with cabins - for winter time!!! Rob

    weekend

Mike - not sure re squid but I did had some very energetic seaweed take my bait on Sunday to the East (aka cuttlefish). Looked like weed, felt like weed - until it fell off then moved against the tide and grabbed on again! Unfortunatly didn't manage to hook it , wasn't my day! Does anyone know if they will gladly take a squid jig? Or is that too prawny and they want fish? Cheers Rob

    Smart Tab Actuator

Gents - I am afraid you have missed the boat (well plane). Week before last I had an actuator deliverd to Alun whilst on hols in the US, I hope to get my mits on it in the next couple of days. Mine, I think packed up as they aren't designed for saltwater use (the SX series - plastic composite ones). There is a bellow covering the strut and it seals top and bottom with plastic ties. I think Saltwater has got in and slightly corroded the piston when extended - and so when compressed the corroded bit has damaged the seal. If I was unable to get the unit via AJ I was going to get the stainless steel version from here and make it fit - they do a version with a valve so it can be re-gassed \ pressure changed: http://www.gasspringstruts.co.uk/gas-springs.aspx Quite easy to work out the pound to N pressure required - and just get the ends that look most likely to fit. 18. I would be keen to know what the weight with trailer was if not using a 4x4. It is all well and good towing 2000kg with a car (such as caraven) until you need to pull it up a slimey \ wet slipway or manouver it over soft-ish ground. Or a nice bit of ice when off cod fishing! (Winter before last Mudeford slip was a sheet of ice, after a club member had lauched 20mins before me, the water had frozen and launching had to be by hand, I would not have fancied my chances of retreiving without a 4x4 and a rope, luckily it had defrosted by the time we came in). recommended towing weights is 85% of towing vehicle weight - doesn't have to be so but most cars will not (legally) tow much more than their own weight. You need a low ratio gearbox to get that figure up much more. p.s. lovely looking boat - go for the open one if it were me!!! HTH Rob

    Sunday - JoJo

No Terry I don't, but at your age some are prone to failing eye sight and amnesia (not the line) it can be easy to misplace things!!!

    Sunday - JoJo

Thanks Martin but I believe Paul Frey was interested and sniffing around but I guess he is not desperate as I think he knew they had come back from Terry on the Family day. Please can you just count them before passing on? Or let me have them next Thursday and I will arrange to get them to Mike. Thanks Rob

    Sunday - JoJo

Yes Paul I am making a good gillie at the moment - let me know when you want a ride. Rob
  22. Not a huge amount happening really (not for me anyway)! I made the mistake of taking Adam F on JoJo - so it ended up him landing 4 fish and me none! A couple of them were keeper size, the other two had eyes bigger than their bellys!!! All in all a good morning, but we didn't like the way that wind pushed us across the tide - we seemed to be dragging the baits - I woudl prefer wind against tide to that! (you live and learn!) Also, the temperature was well down - like Cod fishing - 5 degrees in bournemouth and the sea we 15!!! However the sun warmed things up a little and by mid morning the icecream headache had gone. Back in at 12 and home for lunch. Rob
