As a club would it make sense to try and re-run a comp at the soonest oppourtunity without clashing with anyother club event (i.e. the 1st July) then if that is called off we move to the next available date? (this time 22nd due to other comps). If this procedure is used everytime, then everyone knows where they stand if an event is called off in the future? Thoughts? Rob

Next week - 1st is good for me, I also can't so the 22nd. Rob

Guys - see you there. I am handing out flyers for the RNLI. Tom, wouldn't mind a look round that 46 footer please? Does it have a live bait well? Rob
-
Mike, I like them so much I have 2 - they are small but have enough capacity for inshore fishing. Drifting a Spring Tide on Portland race I found the capacity too small, mind you wer were moving at 6 knots+. Rob

Join the club would be my advice and get yourself an RNLI Free Sea Saftey Check, especially if you are taking out other people. Robhttp://www.rnli.org.uk/what_we_do/sea_and_...sea_safety_home

That would be annoying for the bigger boats: http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/display.var.1463413.0.0.php?utag=42216 ://http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/di...php?utag=42216 "POOLE lifting bridge was stuck in a down position after a pedestrian leant on the barrier, causing it to malfunction. The bridge separating Hamworthy and Poole Quay, remained down for around three hours, while engineers tried to fix the problem. Larger sailing vessels could find no way in and out of Cobb's Quay from noon on Monday."

I would like to purchase a folding cuddy for my boat. It came with a stern cover which is like a cabin at the back which, despite looking weird it keeps you warm but is no use for fishing. The manufacturer Terhi does not make a cuddy for my boat but does for a differernt boat in the range - I have managed to borrow one of these the fit is not bad but not 100% as you would expect. Please see pic - obviously I had to bungee and tie it on as the fixings are not on my boat! 1: Do I spend

Me too heading for that area - see you there! Rob

If anybody would like crew for Sunday I am making myself available. I am house trained and have own gear - unless sharking! Geed to meet more of you last night. Cheers Rob

Are you going to give us more info in the detailed catch report thread or are yoiu just teasing us? Rob

I would be very interested in where those smoothies were, I could fancy that next week if I can get out? I am now going to start fishing these areas more as I now will be launching at Poole RNLI instead of Christchurch. Don't like the sound of that engine service, no excuse for that! If ever you need a hand out there I will be listening to channel 6 call sign JoJo. Question: Can you legally make a general call to PBSBAC memebers over channel 6 or do we have to call a specific boat? As I didn't know who was out yesterday and could have done with some friends!! Rob

Paul, Could I have rob@pbsbac.co.uk please? Rob

Alun - yes nice day out - but not a sniff of anything fishy. We sat on Poole patch for a couple of hours - nothing! Moved to near Bournemouth pier, whilst combing for some features we looked up and had at least a dozen ZapCats heading for us! So we decided to fish of Branksome Chine for the last hour. Again nothing. Maybe I should have chased the mullet I saw in the Holes Bay as we launched! Rob

I am heading out of Poole tomorrow - hoping to launch by 10 If anyone wants to buddy please feel free to post here, PM or email me. I was thinking of heading over to Poole patch for bream and ray. Having never targeted ray before advice and any numbers would be most welcome e.g. what should I be looking for? If anywhere else might be productive I am open to ideas. Please bear in mind I am 16ft open so 20 mile wreck is a little optimistic!! Cherrs Rob

Kam, In the end Pat was not the skipper, we were on a cat but I can't remember the name, it was registered in Portsmouth! The skipper was a young guy called Lyle.

The bass were taking most things! Rubber worms, rubber eels (the real looking ones), and small shads. We had a solitary one mackerel, but we did not feather for them. A small commercial boat was catching bass like they were going out of fashion using live sand eel and working a very small drift (50 yds at most), not possible on a charter!

My Saturday charter was blown-off, not surprising! Leaving me happy I have booked 2 days! However, it turned out to by not the greatet day fish wise but as usual, a good day out. Sunday was an early start (5:30 - at the boat), I was glad I had been able to stay on Portland. However, once underway I was bemused to find out we were heading to St. Alban's Ledge to drift for Bass. Having driven from Bournemouth the previous night to Weymouth I was left thinking, I'm sure I am now nearer home than Weymouth!! Never the less the day was slow fish wise, a couple were picked up during the slack then one every couple of drifts. So much for the same boat landing 50 Bass the previous week at this location! I only managed a solitary Bass, sized around the limit so back it went. Lost a big fish for no apparent reason, definatley a fish witnesses agreed, my mate said it was mother earth! Good day all in all, weather was fantastic. Glad to hear \ see some you you did well in the Bream Comp. Rob

I have one out there too. If you find it it is anchor shaped and has a bit of chain attached!!! Perhaps we should have some sort of remberance service out there for anchors lost on the ledge. I am going to buy the replacement tomorrow - and trip it! Rob I had the thought of getting a magnet anchor - hang magnet under boat a couple of feet down and with the amount of metal work on the legde - bingo, hold in any tide! (patent pending)

Yes Towsure are good, unless you don't have 4" pdc wheel, if you have "common" parts then I agree.

I am unfortunately missing my first PBABAC comp this weekend as I am booked on Channel Chieftain out of Weymouth Saturday and Sunday. I am joining a group of guys from CEFAS so I am hoping with their skills onboard we can't fail to catch!!!!! Also, one of the potential family days is on the same day as my 1st wedding anniversary (17th June), having mentioned the date I got "the look", so I am sure I won't make it, there is always the August one! Good luck to everyone in the comp. Tight Lines Rob

I ordered a number of trailer parts from www.Trailertek.com very good service and prices. I needed a spare wheel and at least one new tyre, due to cracking in the side wall (previous owner may have left it standing for long periods or in the sun I guess). At
