I like the look of the Penn Captiva. Paul Rowcliffe has a 5000 (I think) it is very nice. There is also a baitrunner\freespool version too. I has 7 or 10 BB and is very smooth! Rob

Charlie, I was informed it was 6.5 tons per hour when running on the Olly's a full blast. The Tynes are supposed to be much more efficient for cruising. BTW I did have a chance of steering it! Not as responsive as JoJo!! I also got to sit in the Navigator seat in the Lynx, took control when in forward motion, I guess you have to practice before hovering! Seriously fun when going vertical then free falling back on it's self, got that weightless feeling for a bit - amazing! Got some great video of our flyby's at full wack. Must have passed the ship a dozen times during our trip, it was the last one of the day and the pilot gave it some! My brother-in-law asked him to try and make me sick - not a chance! Rob

I had mentioned to a few of you that I was spending a week on HMS Southampton with my Brother-In-Law, sailing from Gibraltar to Portsmouth in early December. 4500 tonnes with 50,000hp doing 30knots is pretty impressive! Sounds like you have a bad earth. Perhps on the battery or Starter Motor. Take off the large connections on both, clean (with wet and dry paper if corroded or wire brush). Grease and then replace. Rob

Well we went out yesterday. Got out about lunchtime and the Harbour was like a mill pond, and so was out side the harbour. Too good to be true I thought. It was my first trial of the plotter I won in the Open, the maps arrived in the morning which was good timing! How did I manage without one before, superb! We blasted to Swanage in no time and the moment we dropped the hook did the wind pick up and sea chop. Managed a few dogs and some Pout - one really nice one kept for tea. Headed in at 4 just as the light was fading. Nice to be out, the home made cuddy is heavenly! Rob

Hi Andrew, Remember trailering means trailer maintenance. Brakes will be needed if the trailer gross weight is more than 750kg. If you can get away with a lighter craft below the 750kg and your towing vehicle is capable you can reduce the maintenance time and \ or cost. I have just seen a review in "Sports Boat and Rib" Magazine about a product called a super soaker. You drop it in your tank attached to a cord, it soaks up only water not fuel etc then retrieve with cord! No use to me with my outboard but I thought it may be good for other members. I thought
