  1. PG is rubbery and goes through the rings well. I used to use it, until I ran out, I will get me some more! R
  2. 1. Put a bead above the float with a small diameter hole. 2. Suck the braid through (oh err)! Or double up some heavier mono, put that through and pull a loop of braid back. I don't like to use a mono leader when float fishing. It is a extra knot (weakness etc), at 10m it would be annoying if weed caught on it etc etc. Rob
  3. I have had no issues with mono or floro stop knots on braid, but use 10lb not heavier. Rob
  4. 3rd Friday night in a row I got out. This time I had my mate Nick onboard. We had a good catch up, beers and bass! We landed 2, and dropped 2 that were well hooked and on for 30 seconds +, weird! Weather was ace, fairly flat sea, sun and little wind! Oh well, beats the tv!! R
  5. Bloody hell Oli! Time off already with a new bubba, get in!!!!! Hope you have a good and safe day. Rob

    Broken engine

Surely hitting something you should have noticed! Remember, most policies double the the excess for underwater collisions (which could outweigh the cost of a 2nd hand gearbox on an old motor). If they only fund a new gearbox, your engine may not be economical to repair and it isn't worth claiming for. Rob

Are you using a mono leader Steve? Rob
  8. 14 tons I guess - unless we are measuring our catches by length now. Though I'm sure that is less than 75%. R
  9. Enjoy Dan!
  10. Buy a new tank! Not worth the risk. R
  11. Boo! (
  12. Well I had my go at the 48hr yesterday evening. The bass were hard to find and we only had one run. I bet I would have done better if I hadn't entered this comp! Tight lines and stay safe to all this weekend. 9oz mackerel - wahoo, I'm winning!!!! Rob
  13. And no, not who can give the best specimen after the alcohol is consumed!!!

  15. Thanks Martin, I guess we usually list boats and crew, where as this comp it is just a list of 'entrants'. Rob
  16. Well, yes, except for those with alzheimer's!

  18. Well, yes, except for those with alzheimer's!
  19. Question Mr Competition, are we paying for ourselves to enter rather than the boat? E.g. If someone entered but fished on 2 boats over the weekend, it doesn't matter if their name was down next to only one of the boats? Thanks Rob
  20. Fillet Up - genius!!! Constantly, the way you drive it!
  21. Bloody Hell - don't listen to me, go with the crowd, no one else listens! Seriously, congratulations, that is a great boating package. More than capable for inshore fishing and slightly offshore. Like any boating, it is all about matching the conditions and tides and technique\method and forecast and crew to the boat at the time. Last Friday I headed out with CharlieA as crew. Conditions - I knew it wasn't going to be great sea conditions initially as it was blowing some what (and wind against tide)! Tides - I knew it was changing just after 20:30 and that it woudl flatten off as it became more wind with tide Technique\method - I never would have anchoured in that! So drift fishing allows you to fishing more unconfortable conditions. Forecast - looked stable - picking up a little nearer 23:00 (and it really did, but we were just on the trailer by that time) Crew - confident \ experienced crew (with sea-legs) who know the boat and what to do \ not to do makes it so much easier (yes mild compliment to Charlie A). We were the only boat fishing and that did surprise me but we had one good bass. Thanks, Rob
  22. Nice one Neal - why ruin all our weekends!!! Rob
  23. Welcome to the forum, I used to have the EuroSport Dory which I loved. However I would suggest this is over priced! £1300 trailer new + £3500 motor new + £500 boat = £5200 - used factor, I would say your best part of £1000 out. You can get a lot more boat for £5k. Rob
  24. Yes Kev.
  25. Moderation alert!!! (I split this discussion away from Tigerfish's species comp as that is for the skipper to record his catch) Rob
