  1. Great! Remember to measure so we can have a new club record!!! Tight lines and screaming reels! Rob
  2. Species must be caught on your boat (but can move to another boat should you sell and buy a new one) can l be caught by anyone, member or not I think. But it is a species comp for your boat, not you. R
  3. Benny Allen?

    Sunken boat

Thanks Mike! I just wondered how it was recovered on yesterday from the run. Barge and crane I guess. Rob

    Sunken boat

I forgot to mention, I called the Portland Coast Guard when I got back home. To ensure they were aware of the sunken boat. Just incase everyone assumed everyone else had called them!!!! They advised that they were aware of the sunken fishing boat and the owner was recovering it yesterday evening. I guess they must have had a barge arriving with a crane or similar.
  10. Me too Al, but it started ok and powered all the pumps when running etc. I am hoping its a bad cell or similar!
  11. I was glad I had my grab bag with charged hand held VHF should we have had to request a tow!!! R
  12. Bassing again on a Friday night. I had made a couple of calls and had the latest info! Stuck with my new spot from last week and we were in there like swimwear! First fish 7lb to my novice crew, result! I had thought it was my fish as my line shot off, I lifted and handed the rod over to my guest. Pop, hook gone, bugger! My second rod is now doubled over, fish on! Ping, braid parts and float weight and trace gone! Now Barry's rod is doubled over! He plays a hard fighting fish and it did not want to go near the net, deep dives and kiting around. Attached under the float with the bass attached was my missing weight, swivel, hook with live maccy attached! That maccy looked scared, having spent the last few minutes 2ft from a marauding bass! The bass was a welcome sight as we have a BBQ tomorrow for Barry's son! Next we had an issue with the battery, it was dead! Weird, as it has been ok and had a Ctek charger on it a few weeks ago! Anyway, it was he'll of an effort to remove cowling, remove cambelt cover, pull start (2 pulls every time, if ignition on!), replace cambelt cover, replace cowling. Anyway, we managed to do this at the end of every drift and it was a good routine to practice! I had 2 more bass around the 45cm mark and we had a double run at one point but neither connected, small bass suspected! A great evening which was not forecast to be so flat but I had my suspicions that it would be ok! Not sure where the southerly swell came from!!!! Rob

    Sunken boat

Fished out of Christchurch this evening and wasn't greater by a very nice sight: It was on the east of the channel out if the harbour (on the straight bit by the first bar). What was worrying me was when we came back in the dark it was no longer there! But we scanned the area with the spot/lamping light and couldn't see it! R
  14. Anyone going out fishing tonight? I assume Mal is as I think he is living on Sweetpea at the moment! Rob
  15. And that is why we carry rocket flares, to return fire!

    Help

I chucked them out by the bucket load (literally boxes of them discs). I might still have one. I will go look! R
  17. Try Chris Grub Aka Seaspark on the forum. 07899 007389 or 07787 656860 chris@cngelectrical.co.uk He did some stuff for me. Busy mind, but the good ones always are! Rob
  18. Nice one Terry!
  19. I think of you restrict the location you will loose participants!
  20. PG is rubbery and goes through the rings well. I used to use it, until I ran out, I will get me some more! R
  21. 1. Put a bead above the float with a small diameter hole. 2. Suck the braid through (oh err)! Or double up some heavier mono, put that through and pull a loop of braid back. I don't like to use a mono leader when float fishing. It is a extra knot (weakness etc), at 10m it would be annoying if weed caught on it etc etc. Rob
  22. I have had no issues with mono or floro stop knots on braid, but use 10lb not heavier. Rob
  23. 3rd Friday night in a row I got out. This time I had my mate Nick onboard. We had a good catch up, beers and bass! We landed 2, and dropped 2 that were well hooked and on for 30 seconds +, weird! Weather was ace, fairly flat sea, sun and little wind! Oh well, beats the tv!! R
  24. Bloody hell Oli! Time off already with a new bubba, get in!!!!! Hope you have a good and safe day. Rob
