Hi This was my first open since joining the club, last year I had just moved so I was a helper. As I am still learning marks I headed for the spoils and sure enough there were a few boats already there so my thinking was about right. Where to drop the pick was the next thing, saw a charter boat and thought they know more than me so I parked up near by. Soon into a nodding fish, think might be a cod but no just a nice whiting. I am used to small whiting on the East coast so seemed very nice to me. My crew mate Bill had a small spotted ray but did not weigh it as it was small so back she went. Had a couple of doggies but got fed up with the conditions so moved for more shelter but as the boat kept swinging about it was imposibe to fish so moved again, and again but no fish. (You are not the only ones Jack) Would like to thank the organisers and especially Paul J for all his hard work to make it a succesful comp for the club. Well done mate, first class. Coddy

Hi Kam Well if small ones are rare one of my mates caught a 16lb and a 30lb We of course took the "micky" out of hime If you want to know more about Skate talk to Davy Holt or check out his web site Scottish Angling Homepage What Davy does not know about Common Skate is not worth knowing, he is also a great bloke and fisherman. These Common Skate used to be common around the South coast here but got wipped out by fishing! Davy thinks that they may still be the odd one or two but would need so long to find out if they still exsist. Regards Coddy

I can see we will be "bleating" on with this joke or she said "You can't pull the wool over my eyes with this one!" Coddy

Hi Kam Bill Smith and I have been up Common Skate fishing with a friend on his boat for a couple of years. As you say it can be hard work lifting fish from those depths! What is harder is getting the anchor in even when it has been lifted by a buoy! Well done on some great fish, did John the skipper keep any records of the tag numbers or tag any fish that did not have any? Well done anyway, we tend to fly up to Glasgow as it is easier than driving. Regards Coddy

Sammy should be out with Bill Smith and myself Coddy

I would have thought that you hand in your registration form as soon as you land and that way you will have registered that you arrived before the cut off time. Thats my thoughts anyway Coddy

A woman brought a very limp parrot into the Veterinary Clinic. As she laid her pet on the table, the Vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the Vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid Polly has passed away." The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure? Isn't there some kind of test you can do?. He might be in a coma or something." The Vet rolled his eyes, shrugged, turned and left the room. Returning in a few moments with a beautiful black dog. As the bird's owner looked on in surprise, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the parrot from top to bottom. He then looked at the Vet with sad eyes, whimpered and shook his head. The Vet escorted the dog from the room and returned a few moments later with a large tabby cat. The cat jumped up on the table and delicately sniffed the bird. The cat then sat back, shook it's head, meowed a sad meow, and ran out of the room. The Vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but, like I said, your parrot is most definitely, 100% certifiably dead." As the woman was returning to the lobby the assistant handed her a bill for three hundred fifty dollars! She read the bill and shrieked "THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!" "THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS just to tell me my bird is dead???!!!" The Vet shrugged. "If you'd taken my word for it, the bill would have been fifty bucks. But then you asked for the Lab Report and the Cat Scan... !!! The old ones are best Coddy

Hi Mike Does this mean I have to fit those long poles to the side of the boat and go at some stupid speed with giant lures trolling out the back? I think I will wait until the spring and the yachties come out to play for the new year and watch them swerve out of the way of those boom things Coddy

Hi As a matter of interest which bait produced the best results? Sounds like you had a good session, well done. Coddy

I have manage to secure about 3 or 4 polysomething sacks from work. They are meant for shredded paper but they looked too useful. If anyone wants one shout out Might be useful to put an angry small conger in or similar. Coddy

They make props out of it so should ok Coddy

Wedger I personally would try to use the same holes. I did this on a Seahog I had once and it worked ok for me then. I don't like adding holes to the bottom of a boat where I don't have too! You could roll Otter on her side or right over and fill the holes with fibreglass resin then drill new ones, not so easy to fill when on your back thinking of England I would not use Sykaflex (think thats how its spelt) to fill holes without something going in the hole if you know what I mean. Hi all My eldest son is competing in the RNLI 10k fun run. He currently works for the RNLI and is looking to help them in fund raising. He is looking for anyone willing to spare a few pennies or pounds to add to his sponsorship. If you would like to help, just PM me. He is due to run on Sunday 27th November, sounds a familiar date. Many thanks for looking Coddy

Great picture Simon She seems pretty well loaded as the anchors and Plimsoll line shows. Must be a flat-bottomed boat otherwise her draft would make it very difficult to manoeuvre in shallow waters. Interesting to see all the black markers hanging on the mast to indicate what she is doing. Opps! Martin was that going to be the next comp question? Coddy

Hi Harry Welcome to the forum I too own a 165 and having moved down to Poole just 12 months ago I can recommend joining the PBSBAC. I have found everyone very helpful and providing you are willing to put back what you take out it can be very rewarding. I have still to find all the secret spots where the fish sit and wait for others to catch them however! Downside of Baiter is that as you have to bury the trailer in the water to launch it plays havoc with your brake linings unless you wash them out well and travel far enough to dry them out. As stated earlier, welcome and enjoy Member of the Unofficial Warrior Owners Club Coddy

The first Cod of the Winter 2005 season was landed on Wednesday 5th October, aboard 'True Blue' from Poole. Well known local boat Angler Alan Dobson, a veteran of many local and national competitions, landed the fish on a worm and squid cocktail whilst fishing to the east of Poole Bay. Alan is a regular aboard 'True Blue' and belongs to a local group known affectionately as the ' Last of the Summer Wine' Crew . The fish was weighed at 6lb 4oz and photographed before being prepared for the table. This Cod was part of a catch of nine species including, smoothhounds, dogfish, mackerel, scad, ballan wrasse, black bream, pout, and a good size grey mullet caught on baited feathers! 'True Blue' has also been invited and will be taking part in the British Cod Championships to be held out of Yarmouth, IOW, on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th November 2005. This past week produced over fourteen different species of fish for Anglers aboard 'True Blue' from Poole. As always the best was saved until last with yesterday, Sunday 16th October, producing this 6lb Cod for local Angler Graham Archer from the Winton Workmen's Angling Club in Bournemouth. The fish took whole calamari squid presented on 6/0 hooks, heavy mono trace and Penn rod and reel. This is the second inshore Cod for 'True Blue', skippered by Malcolm Collins, to be landed in Poole Bay in the last fortnight. A good start to the Winter season. courtesy of Sea Angling News Coddy
