    Main Power Line

I would suggest that it is where the crimp is on the terminal. If the terminal end has a cover on it you can peel it back, if covered in corrosion, cut off and solder on a new terminal. You can get crimp versions but will quickly corrode with the salty air it is exposed to. Coddy

  12. Hi Terry Good to meet at the slip and to hear your trip details. Thanks for the macky mark, great to stock up again Water was smooth when we got out but roughed up a bit as we ventured further out. Managed a nice sized pout and Bill had a nice Bass, first this year for him I think. We moved off as it was very slow to X-Ray but found doggie city. No rays or flatties to report in. Came in early as the FPO's had arranged for a 10 pin bowling session. Great fun even managed to get a strike! Regards Coddy
  13. Hi Charlie Just back from holiday in Cornwall but be out tommorrow on Sammy with Bill Smith as crew. Going out from Wick at about 7.30am Coddy
  14. Hi I have a Warrior 165 as well and use a 5kg Bruce as my main anchor, I do have however a small fishermans anchor of a about 3kgs as a back up or in rough ground. Both have worked great. I also use blue polyprope rope as my anchor warp and providing you are aware that it floats, I have never had any problems. As Adam has said, there have been various opinions on this thread previously but in the end it horses for courses. Coddy
  15. Would have loved to come but off to Cornwall for the week I was told the boat does NOT come with us! Coddy
  16. Hi Charlie Hardly a junior at 23 Acts like a junior at times however He works for the RNLI so he wants to go fishing at lunch times and wants to get into shore fishing/spinning. Tried down at the chain ferry a few times and caught something but I don't know what as I was not here! He said he wants to join the club and was dissapointed that I could not make it home on Thursday. He is now looking to buy a small (3+mtr) inflatable with outboard!!! Look out everyone when he gets out there Coddy
  17. If you go night fishing there will be no chance of of another sprog ....... unless?? Coddy
  18. Steve You will have to make the trip to the West side of IOW as it seems better fishing or I am slowly getting to know some of the marks. That's gone and spoilt it for the next trip out now Good to meet up again Coddy
  19. Meet up with Lookfar on the slip and we shot off to get some macky. Crew on Sammy was my eldest son Jamie, who is fairly new to sea fishing. Quickly got what we wanted then out to a deep hope and looking for Tope. Again it seems I get everyone to fish except me, Jamie had a pout, jumbo mackeral of about 1lb then a 5lb Small eye ray (I think). He then hooked into to something very heavy and spent the next 1/2hr each giving some and taking some. I looked like a very big ray, Blonde or I was told later Sting ray are about! Anyway with the 30lb class rod well bent using 30lb braid it suddenly parted and he was left with aching arms and a grin from ear to ear. We then moved further out to the overfalls and blow me if he didn't catch a tope af abut 10lb+ Me I just watched him catch fish and I tried to thin out the doggie poulation. Good day out, bit of a lumpy sea but nice to watch your kids catch fish Now he wants to jopin the club! Coddy

    Opinions??

Hi Mike I could pretend to be a Pirate, I have the flag on the boat already, or be a submarine and rescue your engine as it falls through the water after the explosion. Remember the rules of salvage at sea - finders keepers Coddy

    Opinions??

Hi Mike Like Adam I have a 60hp Mariner 4 stroke. I monitor my fuel usage for each trip and the costs, so far for the year it is 0.88 ltrs per nautical mile ( I think a nautical mile is slightly longer than a land mile) I would agree with Adams assessment of one tank from Cobbs to Xchurch and back. I have been discussing a similar thread on an other group one of which has a Raider 18 with a Merc 75 4 stroke and seems to get better fuel ltrs/mile than me at times. A 2 stroke mariner Big Foot on a 165 burns slightly more fuel but gets up on the plane quicker. Like Maveric, extra power means lower throttle setting = better fuel economy. I agree that if i changed engines it would be for a bigger capacity and differant make, proberbly Suzuki as Honda have been having problems lately so I have heard. Mariners are OK but are a bit crude and noisy at higher revs. Think of them as a Ford ........ cheap and chearful and spares/repairs readily available. Engine trim can make a difference in consumption so it is worth experimenting. Warrior type hull designs are terrible at low non planning speeds for fuel consumption, but in a choppy sea I don't fancy my back or legs getting hammered. Coddy
  25. Hi Charlie I have the original emergency starter rope under the cowl but I don't recall seeing any tools. I will give it another look next time I am up at the boat. I will also go to Wimborne market as I think they sell tool rolls there. In view of the responses I think I might fit the outboard braket this week-end Might even give the outboard a test! I like drilling holes in boats Coddy
