  1. I take it Bob that you showed all your goods to the customs then? Coddy
  2. Thanks guys A nice read and from it I think I carry too much fuel so I can save weight here However, nobody has mentioned an auxilary engine. Do you all bring it with you on every trip? Does everyone have one? Mine still sits in the shed along with the bracket to which it is suposed to sit on! That of course means another fuel can but how much fuel? Hmmm ........ off we go again. Like your idea of differant leads in differant sized buckets all in one bucket Charlie, might take that idea up. Square plastic tubs take up too much space so might get some of those felxi type tubs. Adam I think I will have to have a look around your boat to get some more ideas as I seem to run out of space too easily. As for tools, I can not see how I would ever change a plug on the outboard in anything more than a calm sea! So I can get rid of the tool box and get a tool roll. Thanks again guys Coddy
  3. Hi all To recover from jet lag I took Monday off After waking at 12pm I brought Sammy back home to give a good clean down inside and get rid of some of the smells After unloading everything off the boat I started to wonder why do I carry all this gear! Fuel, yes but do I really need 16 gall of petrol? Anchor and warp, yes but do I need another 2 anchors with chain and warp? Lifting Alderney buoy plus 2 other smaller buoys? Tool box of various leads? Loads of smaller items all sitting in a fish box? Forget the safety items which must be carried, I must have loads of excess weight which is not required or slows me down AND costs more fuel to carry. What do you carry on your boat? Boat smells sweet again but I loaded everything back on "just in case" Be interested in what and why you carry what you do. Can I loose my excess lead box? (never been used yet) Your thoughts will be interesting. Coddy ps did my back in lifting the anchor and warp tub off/on the boat perhaps it is worth a few days off
  4. Sorry I could not make it guys, just slept too long. Managed a trip out of Christchurch for a few hours with my son. Plenty of mackeral and pack tope, hope you all did better Coddy

    American History

Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Now it gets really weird. Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.' Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the kicker... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. Creepy huh?

    Walmart Refund

A woman went to a Wal-Mart service counter and tells the clerk she wants a refund for the Compaq S4020WM she bought because it won't boot. The clerk tells her that he can't give her a refund because she bought it on 'special'. Suddenly, the woman throws her arms up in the air and starts screaming! "PINCH MY NIPPLES! PINCH MY NIPPLES! PINCH MY NIPPLES!" The befuddled clerk ran away to get the store manager, saying there was a crazy woman shouting in front of a growing crowd of customers for him to "PINCH HER NIPPLES!". The manager goes to the woman and asks, "Ma'am what's wrong?" She explained the problem with the hp PC 533w, and he too tells her that he can't give her a refund because she bought it on special. Once again, the woman throws her arms up in the air and starts screaming, "PINCH MY NIPPLES! PINCH MY NIPPLES! PINCH MY NIPPLES!" And in doing so, draws an even bigger crowd! In shock, the store manager pleads, "Ma'am, why on earth are you saying that? That's inappropriate! In a huff, the woman says, "BECAUSE, I LIKE TO HAVE MY NIPPLES PINCHED WHEN I'M GETTING SCREWED!" The crowd broke into applause and her money was quickly refunded.

  11. Took Sammy out for a run from Christchurch. Had another go at those mullet but no takers Went out at low tide but as it was neaps no problems. Meet Marine Boy on the way out and Paul said it was a little lumpy out there so we thought we would see how it went. First off we went in search of mackeral which we found fairly easily. We then headed of to just East of Boscome peir and dirfted as we had been told this is a good fish holding are. It may be but nothing came to us so headed out to and X-ray mark we had been with Paul D previously. Almost instantly I had a bite and in came a doggie Next cast and I was in again but this time a doggie AND a starry hound all on a pennel rig using rag worm. We had dropped anchor and we then started with small Black Bream and scad, small starry smooth hound Coddy

  14. Hi Adam I would love to come with Sammy but I am flying back from the USA Friday/Saturday so might well be too knackered. I am willing to crew if someone needs some, no problems if everyone is full. Coddy
  15. Paul The point of a rectifier is to smooth the AC cycle to DC It is not uncommon for the rectifier to blow if the battery leads become detached from the battery terminals to take extreme care. I would suggest that you obtain a workshop manual for your engine, there are often ones available on E-Bay or take it to a marine electrician. Sorry I can not help more, I do have a digital volt/amp meter if you want to borrow it. Coddy

    Tues Eve

Hi Paul You need a fairly good volt meter Connect the meter across the battery terminals and note the voltage If the voltage is less than 11 volts I would suspect the battery has a dead cell Start the engine and see if the voltage increases, should get up to about 13.5volts+ depending on engine speed. Alternativly, take the battery down to Halfords or a battery supplier and ask them to check it on their load tester to see if the battery is knackered. Hope this helps Coddy
  17. Hi Dan Sorry I could not make it to meet up, wish I had now! Nice pic of the thornie, it is even smiling Engine problem, has your prop got a shear pin?
