Hi Nick Just been into the shed and looked for them, seems I have only one now it's a Silver Century long shaft with clutch. Not been started for a couple of years but I am sure it will fire up with some fresh fuel. It's not perfect with some surface rust on the chrome shaft tube, it also has the "long range" fuel tank, not sure how long "long range" is but takes just under 1 gallon I think. Dave

Hi Nick I have a couple you can have a look at if you wish Both have been converted to 25:1 fuel mix I am in Broadstone Dave

Don't forget that you need crutch straps and a spray hood with all life jackets!

This was a well organised event by Loffty and he represented PBSBAC brilliantly, and all the competitors seemed well pleased to be out fishing even if the fish, of any species, were conspicuous by there absence. I would also like to thanks Chris on Kingfisher in providing me and Jamie (my son) with coffee and bacon & sausages rolls, right tasty I must say. The coffee tasted better than my coffee I brought so take that as a great complement Chris. On a safety note, we had the job of recovering the kayaker who fell off his craft. Now anyone who has been on a rib will know that you are not far off the surface of the water, whilst I held onto the kayak Jamie tried to pull in the guy over the tubes, Jamie is quite strong but even he could not do it and so we got the guy to the back of the rib and lowered the step ladder, which drops down to the level of the outboard prop, which made the climbing aboard so much easier. It got me thinking how difficult it would be to get an angler back aboard on one of our fishing boats especially if you don't have a bathing platform with a set of folding steps! Perhaps it may get people thinking how they would recover a person on their boat. We were happy to help just a shame that no great numbers of fish were caught.

Bass anglers are taking to the streets to protest against the current bass fishing regulations. On April 9th there will be a peaceful demo in Camborne (Cornwall, UK) in opposition to the ending of a public right to catch and keep a bass whilst commercial gill netters are allowed to continue catching and selling bass and have actually had their monthly limit increased. Bass anglers all over Europe are enraged that they are being prevented from keeping a bass in the first half of 2016, whilst commercial fishing – a primary cause of stock depletion – continues. In order to attract media coverage of the unfairness in the 2016 bass regulations, the Cornish Federation Of Sea Anglers is organizing a protest march. This will take place on April 9th in Camborne. The name of this town might not ring a bell, but the name of George Eustice probably does. He is MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle and also Fisheries Minister. The march leads to his Constituency Office, where Eustice should be present on the 9th April. All sea anglers in Cornwall and the UK – regardless of whether they are members of any angling organizations or not – are urged to join the march. Protesters can bring fishing rods and banners to support the message that the current bass regulations aren’t fair. It is important that Recreational Sea Angling is perceived in a positive light, so conduct must be non threatening and bad language is out of the question. The demonstration is legal as long as pavements and roads are not blocked. For more details on the protest march see below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peaceful demo in opposition to the ending of a public right to catch and keep a bass whilst commercial gill netters are allowed to continue catching and selling bass and have actually had their monthly limit increased. Objective To attract media coverage of Cornish sea angler’s total opposition to being prevented from keeping a bass whilst commercial fishing, that is a primary cause of stock depletion, continues. Venue Meet at Rosewarne car park Camborne , TR14 8BE and march to Constituency Office of George Eustice MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle who is also Fisheries Minister. His office is at: 13, Commercial Street , Camborne TR14 8JZ Date Saturday April 9th. Start Time Meet 10.00 hrs at car park. Finish Time 11am Notes Attire: Optional, but bring Fishing Rods. Banners optional: Messages to be polite. Suggestions: “Priority for hook and line fishing” “Bass are a PUBLIC resource” “End all netting in estuaries and close to shore” “Sea angling equals economic impacts and jobs” Important Camborne Police have been visited to ensure a peaceful demonstration is legal and it is PROVIDING pavements or roads are not blocked. Conduct must be non threatening and we want Recreational Sea Angling to be perceived in a positive light, so we don’t want any bad language or behavior. I am hoping that some junior anglers will also attend. Out of courteousness, George Eustice ’s Constituency Office has been contacted to advise them of our plans and according to the receptionist George Eustice is holding his surgery there on the 9th April! Be great to have a photo of him talking to us. Incidentally, the lady in the office recollects fishing off the rocks in the past and thought it ridiculous that anglers couldn’t keep a single bass whilst commercials were allowed to fill their boats. So we’re not alone in regarding this situation as utterly wrong. This initiative is for ALL sea anglers regardless of whether they are members of any angling organizations or not. On behalf of Cornish Federation Of Sea Anglers (CFSA)

Allan invited me and John S out on Fisheagle today and as I have only been out once this year it seemed too god to miss. Allan had suggested we try for an early Bream so we headed west, tried most of the morning in a number of different spots but only found the kennels, although some of the dogs were on the larger size than normal. As the tide slackened we headed out a bit going back towards Poole but this time it was a pin whiting spot with a few almost keepers but they were all returned. We then tried a usual ray mark and sure enough it came up trumps and we boated a few spotted rays, not biggies but nice to see a good bend in the rods. Sea state was lovely and calm but an early morning start to get the 7:30 bridge went it was quite chilly until the sun made an appearance and started to warm us all. A hot kettle and good banter was the format of the day and it was great to get away from work for the day, also going west the mobile reception is non-existent so no phone calls to deal with, great! Thanks Allan for a good day shame we did not get any additional species for the boat but at we did try Dave

With all the sand in the water etc. along the front I would head Westward

I think approach to an open competition like this wrong. If a group of individuals want to organise themselves into a team, ok but to start saying make Team A & B in my opinion is not under the ethos of the PBSBAC. I have no problem with competitive individuals but to start making an elite team or two within the club could, in my opinion, have a negative impact on the club. A bit of friendly rivalry is one thing but having a "elite group" is totally another. Firstly there would need to be a team manager who picks the teams, then are the teams allowed to fish as a team in club competitions? If so I suspect the number of people who sign up for a competition will reduce even more as the thought of "what's the point entering" may arise. You would need to be careful of "favouritism" and how would the "team" be selected. I am sure a single result of any club comp would not be sufficient. I am making an assumption but with a 200+ membership I suspect the majority of members want to going out on a boat to relax, enjoy the fresh air and if you catch a fish or two an even better day was had. I understand that entering competitions may improve ones skill, but some just like to be out on the water and fish in a stress less way. As you may have gathered I am against this Club Master Team suggestion. Dave

We don't even have the right number of fishing protection vessels now so I can't see the Government spending more money to buy some more!

Pete Had a look at the last link and I suspect the seller(s) haven't a clue about boats and terminology, just look down at the "benefits supplied" list I also would not want to put a 120hp outboard on the back of that 16.5ft boat!! I wonder if it has even a CE mark or has any marine testing carried? Dave

Brian My PC problems started by doing the upgrade from 8.1 to 10 but it could be a hardware problem, system freezes and so have to do a re-boot to try again and again etc etc I have read and been told that the best way to get Windows 10 to work correctly is a fresh install Just got to check on Google for the number of problems people are having with W10 after an upgrade, I suspect that there are loads of people who have had no problems but talking to the guy trying to sort out my PC said he has seen a number of issues after an upgrade. I would suggest be VERY careful before going to Windows 10 as an upgrade and make sure you have everything backed up! Forgot to add that Windows 10 does NOT have Windows Media anymore you have to pay! or get another version from a 3rd party

Congrats to you both Heard Poole in Dorset is quite good for fishing, might be able to help with a boat as well!!

Lithium batteries are expensive and have a limited cycle range, I personally would suggest a sealed AGM or Gel battery as they are not so sceptical to low voltage damage if drained and can be recharged using modest chargers, lithium batteries require specialist chargers. To give you and an idea I have just purchased a 14v 2A lithium battery pack cost approx. £125 and the charger another £160 + vat! Nicads are just as bad for the limited use and they have memory issues. Re the Booster pack, as Charlie suggested these are designed for short bursts of high power and not sustained low power drain. This is where starter batteries and leisure batteries differ and forget the "Marine" badge unless you have loads of money to waste as I have not seen any factual documentation to say that a purpose produced "Marine" battery has any improvement over the usual range.

Hi Charlie Yes indeed they do come from Southern IFCA I asked the question about being out for a number of days and they confirmed that if you had the same number of fish as people on the boat for each day, then there would not be a problem Following on from the PDSAA meeting last night, it was confirmed that fishing around Alderney and Guernsey will follow the same restrictions as laid down by the EU even within the 12, 6 & 3 mile limits. We were also advised that there were 7 officials from the commercial sector who accompanied the Minister to the meeting in Brussels, whilst they are not allowed to be in the same room or building as the discussions were conducted they did send messages to the Minister on suggested options and requirements as the discussions were ongoing! These people are paid by the commercial fleet to advise and coerce the Minister to their way of thinking. It seems the French may well have saved the RSA's to allow catching Bass after 6 months as the original idea was to ban it for 12 months. It was generally agreed that 2017 amendments to be discussed later this year may well be harsher for the RSA's. If the Angling fraternity can get its act together and stop a lot of infighting we need to put massive pressure on those who can help and influence including MP's EMP's DEFRA and so on. My personal feeling is that the majority of Sea Angling RSA's are too apathetic and so nothing of any consequence will happen over the next 10 months! By then it will be too late. Perhaps we need to invite someone like Nigel Farage to an open club meeting, forget party politics, but as he likes Sea fishing, enjoys a pint and a smoke he could well be an ideal spokesperson as the Press seem to love it when he makes public statements. He would also know who we, as an angling group, should target to make our points heard.

Dave In answer to your questions 1/ What constitutes a day, which is the word of the draft ? midnight to midnight ?? or any 24 hour period ??? - Midnight to Midnight 2/ If I go out overnight and catch one before midnight and one after midnight and get stopped on the way back with two, how will that work ? - Just explain you have been fishing overnight 3/ If I have one of your big boats and go out for 7 or 10 days and come back with 7 or 10 and get stopped ? - Same answer as above but be prepared to show where you stayed overnight even if you stayed on the boat. Saying you anchored out for 7 or 10 days may give you problems however. These questions have been asked before to the Southern IFCA people and the above were their answers Dave
