  1. There has been Cod caught last year in the harbour as well as smuts but not big ones. Might hook into a seal if you are unlucky Dave
  2. The developer, Atlas Partners, has submitted plans for a new marina development in Poole Harbour that could take over the site of Sydenhams Timber Yard above Poole Bridge. Situated on the Hamworthy side, the new residential development will offer 365 apartments and incorporate a 900-berth marina. Ground floor retail and business spaces for cafes, shops, restaurants and galleries, plus pedestrian and cycle routes through the site, will be added to encourage visitors. Sydenhams Timber Yard has been operating on the 4-acre Hamworthy Wharf site, where it was founded, since 1874 and, now with branches throughout the UK and having ‘outgrown’ the site, it will be relocating to new premises elsewhere.

    New Member Ray

Welcome Ray Many things have changed over the years regarding boats including the fishing. Don't be afraid to ask what might seem simple questions as we all started asking the same questions and we still don't get tired of answering them. Mal is our Safety Officer and I am sure he will be along soon to give you his advice and he is the guy to contact for any training you want. So join the club and you will find the more you give the more you will get out. We meet every 1st Thursday on the month so our next meeting is this Thursday 3rd August at the Trade and Labour Club in Ashley Road, Poole. It is next to the Esso garage Most people arrive around 7:30 for the 8pm start, I am sure you will be made most welcome. You don't even have to be a member to come along to the club meeting so dip your toe in and see you there. Dave

  6. Attached is the Co-ordinates for the safety zones and flying times for the 2017 Bournemouth Air show also a diagram showing the marine safety zone Air Show.pdf
  7. If you buy a plastic ready made measure, make sure it has all the up to date minimum sizes on it as I hate to see someone waste money on old stock! You could always make one out of wood and put your own markings on it, it would float as well if it fell overboard Dave
  8. Have a word with your marine engineer as your outboard my be better equipped than I am suggesting. A phone call is a cheap quote Dave
  9. Jerry A lot depends on the age of the engine as you may well need fixings and clip arrangements for the gear change and throttle cables, you will also possibly need to change the transom bracket so that the steering cable can be fixed to the transom, plus the quadrant to attach the steering arm. All in all it could prove quite costly all round, may be worth looking for an outboard already set up for remote steering Good luck Dave
  10. Are these any good? I know they are in the USA buy may be order them http://www.jpwmarine.com.au/products/fishing-accessories/rod-holders/insert-for-rod-holder-2inch.aspx or these http://www.jpwmarine.com.au/products/fishing-accessories/rod-holders/rod-holder-tube-inserts-caps.aspx EBay here from Australia http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-BLUE-NYLON-ROD-HOLDER-INSERT-PROTECTORS-Fishing-Bait-Board-Rocket-Launcher-/190800517407?hash=item2c6c98d91f:g:aAEAAMXQMmJRIwl5
  11. Perhaps you need to re-arrange your social calendar Then again that might be a trifle dangerous
  12. Check out the new Angling Trust #Tidelines blog to read more recent rantings: http://bit.ly/2tjNJNo on commercial fishing inshore
  13. Does anyone have any old clean newspapers for Andy at Poole Sea Angling shop? I normally supply him with RNLI bait wrap paper but they are very low in stock and so Andy is running short of paper to wrap bait in. If you have some newspapers please can you drop them into him as soon as poss. Many thanks Dave
  14. Pictures would help if you can post them
  15. I take it that you have managed to sort your outboard problems out, was there anything specific causing you starting issues? Dave
  16. This might be better as it is in Portland http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/Outboard-Petrol-for-sale/suzuki-df-100-atl-lean-burn/177620 or this in Newhaven http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/Outboard-Petrol-for-sale/mercury-115elpt4s/177182
  17. Martin, I think the improvements in fuel will be realised at lower throttle positions, WOT will be about the same as the old 75 but slow trolling and cruising speeds will see improvements 4-strokes and even Etecs will happily tick over or run at low revs without plugs oiling up and then cutting out and being a pig to restart. I suspect the noise level will be a great improvement as well
  18. From the info I have read the Wilson 20 needs a minimum 75hp and most run 90hp to 115hp (4-strokes) If you have the minimum size engine you will need to keep near max revs to keep on the plane depending on how much weight the boat is carrying i.e. people and fishing gear A bigger engine will use less fuel as not having to use max throttle and will work less hard. Having the right prop and engine height on the transom also plays a lot in the performance of a boat Dave
  19. Here is a link to the chart card you need for your plotter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Garmin-BlueChart-Data-Card-MEU001R-English-Channel-France-UK-for-GPSMAP-/322314871460?hash=item4b0b76a2a4:g:NYsAAOSwdGFYyjd4 I know its EBay but that's the only way I expect you'll find one for the English Channel Dave
  20. An even better E-Tec 115 http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/Outboard-Petrol-for-sale/evinrude-2016-evinrude-e-tec-115/176516 or a Mercury http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/Outboard-Petrol-for-sale/mariner-f90/122240
  21. Allan has asked me to add a couple of pictures of the presentation The winning team All the winners Dave
  22. Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I wish I was out with Charlie in Florida perhaps next year
