  1. I'm thinking of upgrading the lighting on the boat from the original incandescant to LED . There are just 3 nav lights, a wheelhouse light and a deck light. Has anyone done it and what do you need to be aware of please? Do I just swap all the light fittings & bulbs or do I need to do something at the switch end of the circuit too ? Any advice much appreciated Thanks
  2. Usual rule of thumb is to have a length of chain at least as long as the boat. The chain acts as a shock absorber so as the boat rises and falls it lifts the end of the chain (where it joins the rope) but leaves the anchor lying flat on the bottom hence still dug in. If you change anything in the setup and try it out its worth just doing one thing at a time so you can tell what is having the most impact. Good luck!
  3. It was good to meet you yesterday Paul and thanks for the reels. Regards Max

Was out yesterday but it was a long day for little reward. Most of my usual spots were very quiet and I had to make do with a few (very few) smaller species - dogfish, pout, tub, wrasse and small bream - to keep the interest up. Saw just one mackerel all day and even that jumped off as I got it to the surface 😒. The only highlight was a spirited bass on a light lure rod which gave an entertaining tussle. It has to improve surely?
  10. I'd be interested to hear that Allan but just booked a day trip to Guernsey. Perhaps if any members do attend they can post an update? Thanks Max
  11. Thanks Allan Coincidentally I have just downloaded and laminated the wheelhouse card. Also ordered the measuring sticker.
  12. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Looks like a good splice 🙂 Out of interest what weight of anchor and chain does that setup lift? Cheers
  14. Similar story here. I was near the Spoils and had blondes, conger, whiting pout and one mackerel. The fish were mostly at the start and end of the ebb but it went dead in the middle. Interestingly nearly everything took frozen mackerel and the expensive californian calamari I paid a small fortune for hardly got touched.
  15. Well done guys - great day out but tough fishing. Thanks for a warm welcome to my first PBSBAC comp. Thanks Stuie for providing crew today - sorry we (I!) didn't find the fish. Cobbs will be the place to fish for a few days perhaps 😉
  16. Here Fishee Fishee Max & Stuie Looking forward to it!
  17. Same here if I can find crew. Does anyone need a place? If so please PM
  18. Even IFCA calls them Sea Bass now 🤣
  19. Hooky Regarding the depth on F pontoon at LW, I told MDL in August that it needed dredging. I got a response that they did not yet know when it was due to be surveyed but would let me know. Nothing heard to date so it might be worth letting them hear your experience too Regards Max
  20. Hope you have a great day Pete 🍻
  21. Done, thank you for the prompt
  22. Its a miracle they survived looking at the force of the impact and the state of the plane when it was recovered but the pilot did an amazing job of averting what could have been a tragedy in such a crowded area, as did the family who rescued them
  23. Now taken. Thanks for looking
  24. Pair of size 10 insulated waterproof boots with removeable liners, used condition. Free to anyone who wants to collect. Please PM to arrange pickup
