I spent a few hrs trying in Holes bay between Xmas & NY - nada 😞
-
I had a QS500 before I upgraded to a 640. It was a lot of boat for the money - lockable wheelhouse & plenty of deck space. It had a Mariner 60hp and did 24kts clean. I read some of the dire warnings at the time but can't say that was my experience. I found the 640 still slams in a short sea, does not sit still at anchor without some tide and not steady on the helm in a 3/4 stern sea so all boats have faults but I still like it. I'd give it a sea trial. PS. I had an Orkney Fastliner 19 before the QS500 and it was a step up from that

I could not get it to work. Will do it again on PC later. Have posted a question in Help forum.

I know there are a few Tapatalk users out there so I'm hoping someone who reads this can help. I have an Android tablet (Hudl) without a SIM so it's using WIFI. I can post text ok to this and other forums but cannot get an image to upload. If I go to my image store (Photobucket) there is an option to share via Tapatalk. The text gets posted but not the image. I have tried another forum without success. There is also an option in Photobucket to copy the image link and paste-in but I cannot see how to paste! (No CTRL-C/CTRL-V on Android that I have found) Any advice welcome but if you don't understand a word of this I feel your pain too :-) Cheers

First attempt to load images via Tapatalk... If successful I'll add some explanation Cheers Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk

Hi all I suspect my MT500 is not tickety-boo. I asked MTECH (UK base in Devon) for a local agent but they told me to ship it to them. Does anyone know of anyone locally who can do this sort of thing please? Many thanks

Thanks for all the hints guys. I went down to the boat today and did some systematic fault diagnosis. First checked the problem was still there without changing anything - it was. Next removed the switch from the circuit and reconnected battery 1 direct to the engine and electrics harness - it started ok but sure enough after a few minutes of running on tickover the charge rate dropped quickly to 12.3 which triggers the low battery alarm on the fishfinder - revved the engine in neutral which pulled the charge rate upto about 13.5 momentarily but it quickly dropped back to 12.x and falling - so probably not the switch but could be a fault in either battery 1 or engine charger... Repeated the above with battery 2 and same result so concluded its the engine as unlikely both batteries are duff (unless the engine charger has somehow damaged them?). I'm pretty sure its the engine now and will go back to the engineer on Monday to try to convince him. Thanks again Max

I have a 2-battery system controlled by a Make-before break 4-way switch (1,2,Both, Off) Both batteries in good health

That's a question you should put to the Marina owner - ask for their stats on thefts. I suspect its not vastly different to others but I recently had my auxiliary lifted off the back of the boat from F pontoon. The pontoons are secured via access codes but anyone in a dinghy can paddle up the harbour and help themselves. I also think that the further from shore your berth - the more susceptible it is to light fingered types. If you do come to Cobbs I look forward to seeing you there perhaps.
-
Yep - be warned Mine has "walked off" Thieving *********s!
-
My auxiliary has gone. Its a Mariner 5hp 4st longshaft and it was stolen between 25th Sept and today. If you are offered one on the cheap I'd appreciate a nod as there were some telltale marks. Police informed.

Well done - can't miss opportunities like the current spell of settled weather. Was thinking I hadn't seen you for a while. I headed the other way (W) yesterday and had a very pleaseant day but no monsters. See you soon - I owe you a trip! Max

I'm happy to comply with requests to steer clear but where will I keep away from? Weather forecast looks reasonable for the w/e so was thinking of heading east from Poole - should I stay inshore or go offshore? Or should I just head west? Thanks

Sounds like a great day was had - well done. Does anyone know if the results are published please? Cheers Max

Just like to say a big "Thank you" putting on the film and also providing a warm welcome to a non-member. Great ambassadeurs (abu ) for the cause. Also thanks for the Q&A at the end. I didn't catch the gentleman's name but he was a great sport to stand up and take questions from the floor (I was the one who asked about the cod) Good luck with the Open comp Max

I came back in the dark a few weeks back and although I normally fit under it I spied a red light. When I got closer I saw the bridge was closed to traffic and there were workmen on it so thought fair enough, they're stopping boats going under for safety. A workman saw me waiting and hailed over, apologising and said they were running behind schedule but would be opeing soon. Well I waited about 30-40 mins eventually. Only as the bridge was about to lift did I realise I had been looking at the wrong red light! There is a small one near the inshore lifeboat station - that became obvious when the real red traffic light came on for a few moments before going green. Doh!
