  11. iguess it depends how long the ariel was to start with its the metal band inside the ariel thats the important bit if that is damaged then its goodnight vienna you really need to power it up and try it if you are near the sea or anyone with a boat and vhf it may be possible to contact via the radio either by listening in or transmitting to them or if you have a handheld as a spare try calling that and you should have a good idea if it works or not you would need to cap the break off i would have thought tho
  12. i saw some rollercoaster rollers on ebay this week and cradle arms
  13. u should still be able to start the engine by wrapping a cord around the top of the fly wheel in an emergency. and if you wanted to get the boat to a trailer. ive had the self same thing happen to me and i didnt realise you can start it this way
  14. have you checked to make sure the engine isnt overheating and dropped down onto tickover running some engines have this as a safety cushion to protect the engine from lack of cooling water, and have you made sure the oil is actually mixing with the fuel ive only said this because our lad had a problem with his two stroke scooter where the oil had run out of the tank and when it was filled back up a air bubble had formed in the pipe and stopped the oil from mixing. just a thought
  15. i believe the cable can be rejoined but no parts of the cables are allowed to touch against each other and after joining the cables must be sealed in silicon so that no water can get in i personally would get a new one i think garmin transducer can be found for about 50 or sixty quid for peace of mind money well spent try sounder parts who have a lot of older parts in stock and are fairly local i think

    Mooring

a tip for baiter with strong side wind is to turn the trailer into the wind u will find it much easier to retrieve and regarding slipways cobbs is second to none and u can pay yearly which cobbs prefer so it works out cheaper for stress free launching in and out on most tides and wind direction apart from a strong north east when it blows up the slipway but even then its no real problem its worth a try before u make ur mind up
  17. sorry didnt hear what he said could someone read it out to me please lol

  22. i think you have hit the nail on the head there newboy when mentioning oil rigs how many angling boats are allowed to fish around the rigs ,i think you will find none as there is im led to believe an exclusion zone around them we to have discussed the proposed wind farm at club level and have been led to believe a similar exclusion zone will be in place around them possibly due to them being ideal terrorist targets stood out there all on there own i will post more info as i receive it, but i do agree an structure put in place out there has to attract all sorts of life to it especially with the vanes whirring around above the sea (any one remember jaws)
  23. i too didnt think the warrior is 7 foot wide having seen one for sale on ebay where the stated beam is 6 feet and five inches maybe the newer ones have a wider beam tho

    Knots

the knot i always use for braid to nylon is simplcity to tie and can be done in a hurry ie in between drifts and i have found to be extremely reliable as do everyone ive passed it on to, you make a loop in the mono and hold in your left hand you make a loop in the braid and hold in your right hand you then pass the braid through the mono and whip it up eight times pinch the the top of the whip and whip back down eight times you then pass the looped braid back out through the mono loop the same way that you came in ,now you must moisten the knot before you start to snug it up, gently tease the coils up to the end of the mono loop add more lube if needed and finish snugging up ,the finished knot will have aloop of braid and a single strand of braid sticking out and one strand of mono sticking out which need to be trimmed , i think the knots strength lies in the fact the braid knot is pulled up against the mono loop and trapping it there
  25. glad it worked out ok for you
