i know this may be a bit off the wall but maybe it might not be a bad idea to approach other clubs in the area to form a competition only comitee,so that the stress could be shared out , as long as the comp is run as a non profit making event where all the entry fees are paid out to the winners. there are lots of other ways that the organising clubs could make money

hi charlie just a small piece of advice from a seasoned boat launcher avoid dunking your vehicle in the sea to often you will soon find that even washing the salt off it gets in many places and will eat your mag wheels ,the thing to do is tie rope to car, via towing eye is best and round winch post of trailer just in case you have a runaway the boat and trailer shouldnt disapear into the water, choc off wheels and unhitch from car transfer rope from towing eye and loop round tow hitch, or if you have brakes on the trailer wedge the wheels first and unhitch from the car tie rope to winch post and double hitch the rope around the tow hitch you will then find that you can control your ascent into the water without dunking vehicle, on return one person can stay with boat whilst the other goes for the car and trailer ,the trailer can then go into the water to retrieve the boat leaving the car at waters edge or a little way up the slip ,again you tie the rope to the trailer using a series of over hand knots, when boat is on the trailer you then tie the rope to the tow hitch using the overhand knots the reason for this knot is because of the strain exerted upon the rope when pulling your rig up the slipway any other knot would pull itself so tight as to never be able to undo it. when i say series of overhand loops i mean you take a length of rope and pass it round your winch post you the tie one overhand knot close to the post then another and another until you have no rope left well done tho for turning boat and trailer into wind and tide to ease your retrieve ,that was a lesson i had to learn one day when it was blowing a force 5 sw at baiter and my boat just wouldnt go on the normal way, i hope this is of some help to you as this is how i do it obviously you can fine tune it to suit yourself and find out what works best

well ive just blown that theory completely out of the water i got it the wrong way round anyway and went on ask jeeves and can confirm that it is 1.15x 40 knots =46 mph.lol

i was always led to belive that a knot was 1.5 times faster than mph

hi i went to ameeting last night and the latest regarding the licence is that the government propose to bring it in by 2009 announced at the top secret public meeting between defra and southern sea fisheries at the rnli building last week but no mention of price and they believe that the cost of policing it will be generated by the fines imposed on anglers with no licence and the increase in the bass minimum size is definately on hold for further investigation annihalation whichever way you look at it again i believe until 2009 there wouldnt be an election that year would there ,and commercials versus pleasure anglers wsa also mentioned again regarding the revenues brought in by both parties but its not my place to be getting political here

beware if you buy one of these reels from america on the strength of this reveiw i decided to try one i found a site that was selling them and paid for it lovely reel but didnt expect the extra 23 quid customs charge had i known about this i may have thought twice about purchasing i know 23 quid may not be an awful lot of money but when you consider the price of the reel to start with there may be something better and cheaper on this side of the pond

brilliant idea and full marks to the skippers wishing to take part, but feel that 16 to 18 years olds takes away the essence of what you are trying to achieve i feel, but thats just my opinion, as most if not all of that age could possibly be in that period of their lives where they are trying to forge careers for themselves and maybe have jobs.
