  1. Thanks Sam, Just showed Reubs over breakfast and he was very chuffed! Shame we can't make the second comp. Ps. We only had mackerel and rays on Sun, so 2 species not 3. Well done to all.
  2. First off - well done to Sam for organising this, having something for the juniors is well overdue.... ... And what a great day we had! I didn't think Reuben would have more attention span than a few hours but he didn't want to go home at 12, but we had to go to a family BBQ. Reub informed me last night that he wanted to target Stingrays and Whale Sharks! Anyway he loved catching the fat mackerel which were thick in Swanage Bay, then we tried for a Ray, which he found boring after 10 mins! Anyway on this mark the ray often take an hour or so to come on the feed, an today was no different with a small 3lb Small Eye which made his day... Only to be followed up by a bigger 5lb 8oz fish just as we packed up. Great memories for us both. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. How comes we have gone for the one rod, 3 hookes rule? Why aren't we fishing normal club rules? As Reub is a real beginner we will be fishing at anchor, so one rule 3 hooks is a bit pointless? Looking forward to it anyway, as is Reuben!
  4. How have they become endangered more so than other rays?
  5. JV back in action after a fuel filter change so Reub will be out fishing. We're going for stingrays and whale sharks apparently...... :-) Not sure how long his attention span will lasts but we will give it a few hours I'm sure.
  6. Nightmare. You've not had much luck have you. Hope you get it sorted mate.

    Boat Insurance

Porthcawl too. Been with them for 10 years. When I claimed last year they didn't flinch, and my premium has hardly changed dispite all the years and my boat growing about 10'!

    Boat storage

A boat yard will cost you circa £1500 per year upwards depending where you go.

    Boat storage

All about priorities my friend. Only you know the right answer. Do you have more money than time or visa versa? My choice given your scenario would be to stay keeping it at home... For the hassle of launching, you'll either get a whole load more cost for a boat yard, or a whole load more maintenance for putting it on a mooring. It's an easily trailer able boat and you look to have a good hard standing at home for it, plus your close to the sea. Seems the ideal set up to me. Adam
  10. Brian, might be helpful and encourage a few more to pay if you put the paypal link on this thread?
  11. Glad the chairmans on the ball! :-)
  12. Wow! The first time in all the time I've been a member when an offshore fish has won, not only that, but all top 3 were offshore.
  13. And now I'm actually not wanting to go!

    Game Fair

I was.... But now I'm going wrecking to France... :-)
  17. Erm... Not that I'm superstitious or anything but I can't help that someone is trying to tell me something? Last time I actually tried to cross the channel, the drive coupling failed... Since then I've had 5 dates cancelled this year due to strong winds... When we do finally get a window.... Lightening and biblical flooding threatens! I might stay at home and have a lay in......
  18. If it comes I won't be fishing in it! James and I got caught on the ledge a few years back, it was terrifying!
  19. Just seen 3.5hp.
  20. What size engine is that on it?
  21. Ahhhhh! That's a great price Steve. I've been scouring eBay for one of these but 2.3m... I think this will be too bit for what I want. I just what it for occasional use in Alderney or in Studland with the kids What do you think?
  22. Surprised no one fancies this?
  23. If the weather plays ball, I may have a space on JV for a 2 day wrecking trip to France this Sat and Sun. Post here if you fancy it.
  24. More progress today. One of those days where lots of work completed but hardly anything to actually show for it. Basically the original owner hadn't a clue when it came to skin fittings. Nothing fitted properly and many things had been bodged with plumbing waste fittings and lots of silicone :-( The engine hatch drains leaked like a sieve into the engine room and the main deck hatch drains were set up to drain straight into the bilge.... Just where you want fish guts and dirty water going.... Not! So que a trip to Aquafax and a bag bulging with a fair few £'s worth of new fittings. It was like a sauna laying down in the bilge today... An absolutely horrible job, but now she is fitted properly and all 8 sets of drains and fittings are done properly. It was that bad I had to shower in the marina before Rach would let me back in the car.... And I'm still itching like made from the grp dust :-( glad that's over with! Next job is a new engine hatch lid to be moulded and laminated and the engine box to be cut out and re-glassed in.
  25. Yep, agree with that and it's a fair point.
