    Question...

When boat builders experiance a bear edge of fibreglass, a 'U' shaped strip is often used to cover the edge and make a neat finish. I cant find this anywhere??.... What is it called? I want to use some to seal some lockers on the boat from water ingress...any other ideas? Can I buy a sealant strip especially for this purpose? Adam
  4. I have the 25l Quicksilver tanks with fuel guages on BW x 2...they cost me
  5. Tides are quite big on Mon...deep water wrecking will be hard work...Thurs looks better for smaller tides. Adam
  6. Paul - Im having a bash at finishing mine in the morning - Ill take a piccie and post it up here. I reckon that on an open boat less is more...ie just opt for the one switch panel, that should be adiquate to run all of the toys. Adam

    Multi meter

Id ditto Barrys comments Kam - a completely seperate set up is far easier to keep in good condition, the ones that are in-built are notorious for corroding... Adam
  8. Guys, Having just filled the last place on the Alderney trip to give me a full compliment of 12, I have just had a phone call from a member who is having to pull out due to unavoidable circumstances.... Therefore time is getting extremely short and I have 1 place left to fill again. Anyone who is interested please let me know ASAP...also those who are going please ask your friends and colleagues. Cheers Adam

I know what you are trying to say Kam - thats one will loose money on a boat - that is fact with almost anything you buy and sell on (houses excluded) But I still feel that your example is incorrect. The fact that BW has had a new engine comes under the bad luck / maintenance heading IMO and cant be added to the 'real' cost of the boat - but I take your point. Also the 1k is a little unfair, really it would be a percentage...had we lost 1k on Tara that would have been 33% of the total cost. What I am getting at is that James and I MADE

    HH VHF Advice?

Decided to wait for a better model, as I dont believe in false economy...I have used and trust Icom's range of VHF so had decided to wait for one of their handhelds. Then, browsing through good ol' ebay at the weekend I noticed one of Icoms top line models for auction...never used, waterproof, rechargable etc, etc and no bids! Anyway I won it for under 90 squid...bargin methinks. Another thing off the list for the new season! Strange thing though...on the back it has a small icom sticker that reads ' Icom VHF Marine Transceiver - not intended for distress and safety purposes' What the hell is it intended for then??

On a serious note....I know how much my sport costs, and yes, it shocked me when I first got invloved...I thought carp fishing cost enough...trying running a boat as well. But, and a big but..take one other popular sport..football for instance. A good mate of mine is a devout Chelsea fan. He will travel to all home games, add up the season ticket cost, the petrol travelling etc and it is a far whack...all for 90 minutes. Golf is also in a similar league re. club membership (

  20. I have 2 batts...(im sure all of this has been covered before - Ill see if I can find the post). One is under the transom, the other is over 12 feet away in the console. They both are wiried into a battery switch which is in the middle of the transom. I simply used the voltage calculator (above) and then bought sufficiantly thick battery wire to negate the drop in voltage. It actually wasnt as think as I thought. This system works perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone. Paul - if you want a hand give me a shout. Adam
  21. Charlie - Do you have to pay to join the BCC? Or what is the requirement for entry?

    Bream 'ooks

Yep, Mike at UK Hooks gave me a free box to sample. They are like a long shank circle. Still work on the same principle but have an Aberdeen type shank to aid baiting - worms are now easy. AF
  23. Just serviced all three of my reels - using the above info to help. Was a little nervous, as I have taken star drags apart before and not been able to put them back together - no such issue with the lever drags. Each one took about 1/2 hour. I stripped each one, washed the parts on hot soapy water and then lightly greased each part as I re-assembled them. They now all run like new. Interesting was that the Okuma Titus Gold seemed much better built than the shimano's - huge main gearing, all machined internals (no plastic), and I have looked after it a little more than the others...but one of the retaining screws was corroded in and needed drilling out (ouch! taking a DeWalt to the side of my

    HI

Hi Zed, Welcome to our site. Echo all of Newboy's sentiments above - Im sure we can get you aboard Blue Warrior sometime this summer. Are you thinking of joining the club? - You dont have to have a boat, and is a sure fire way of crewing for others and getting afloat more often. Regards Adam
