  1. Paul, I intend to try and write a report at least for each trail-away, and dont mind offering to do the ones for the comps. Should build up a nice little archive of reports and piccies that way.
  2. You should learn about posting things like that on such a public place...esp. when you wife is registered forum user!!! Youre prob. right. My bet is

  5. Hi Duncan, Hi 4 peneth worth..... The Trooper: I looked at this boat 2 years ago, when Crayside had it the 2nd time around (this is the 3rd in as many years!) and it gets a bit tattier each time! When I looked I was very green around the gills, and to me it looked the mutts nutts. However now on reflection I'm glad I didint get it. The engine is THE main consideration on any secondhand package - and the crappy 50hp Force is a pile. All of the comments above are correct, so as you said, take heed! The actual boats themselves are not too bad. For a 15 footer, they are massive as the cuddy is so close to the bow. As Coddy said - the catherdral hulls are renowned for slamming, noise at anchor and poor abilty in rough seas....in flat seas they are almost unbeatable, but how often do we fish in perfect conditions? Cant really comment on the Jeep. From what i do know, they are not too dissimailar to the Trooper. From someone who has owned 2 seconfhand packages and done the groundwork this is what I reccomend. ( Please ignore me if teaching to suck eggs!) Go out on as many boats as possible. Are you local? We have all sorts in the club and all the guys will only be too willing to give you a ride. You cant tell unless you get out to sea and drive the things. Each boat has it's own characteristics and each individual has their own requirements, what suits me may not suit you. I went for a Warrior. The hull design is perfect what what I need it for. It planes well when calm, but copes with crappy conditions as well as boats 5' bigger. Dave Steele at Ainsdale boat Centre is a chap worth speaking to. Decide what you want, and roughly what spec / price. Give him a call and he'll usually source you soemthing pretty damn near...just ask Coddy! Hope this helps! Anymore info - just ask!
  6. Youve lost me??....Charter specials go for at least

Cheers Mike. I tried Towsure earlier on, they didnt have any. And I got flashed by a bloody camera coming out of Soton! I have actually taken the bits off the broken uint and fixed them to a new piece of plastic - cant get the wiring to work though...you wanna have a look?
  9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MEWA:IT Not too dear at the moment....considering bidding on it myself, but at the moment cant find a reason that I need another reel! Thought one of you may be interested!!
  10. Paul, Nice one for the report on the main page. Is there not a way we can have them on seperate lniks - like we do for the species articles? I just feel that the way they are at the moment - many users may miss the article, as unless you scroll down you can miss it. A link at the top of the page to 'reports' would be good - we could also add piccies then, which always look great. If you dont have the time, maybe you could show me? Im quite happy to do it, if I knew how. Adam

Where can I get a new one? I have tried a few places and they only do them up to 4' with piddly little cables, I need a 6' and at least 7m of cable????
  12. Mike: Wrong Dan I think matey - unless he has grown a few years overnight! I have edited your post.... Happy Birthday Dan - have a good one!
  13. Christ!!! We have all metioned examples of yachts using us as waypoints over the past few years, I suppose it is just inevitable that once in a while they get a little too close. Makes you wonder extactly how you can miss a charter boat???
  14. ......dont want to upset our 'friend' though do we!! last time we sent the echo something about Weymouth it caused merry hell!! ....on second thoughts - lets do it!
  15. Charlie, Nope I havent - I can do, where/who do I send it to? Do you wanna send it? Adam

  19. Well, after having to cancel the first attemp at our trail-away, the weather gods shined yesterday on the clubs 3rd trail-away this year. A cracking day was had by all, both in terms of the weather, the fishing and the company. A full write-up on the event will be posted in the next day or so with piccies, so I wont go into massive detail here. In the meantime, if anyone has any photos from the trip can they email them to me. Also feel free to give your own accounts of the day on the forum!! Many thanks to all who attended, these events seem to grow in popularity each time. Cheers Adam
  20. I also remeber something being said at a meeting - although it wasnt the Aug. possibley june/july?
  21. About time!!! - Wick is well overdue for repairs! Mappo - where did you hear that?? Most of the time I'm using Muddiford it will be early in the morning - so I expect Ill get away with the charges??
  22. As for sealant. When I was last in Select Marine - I asked Tony what he uses as sealant - proper 'Marine' grade or DIY / Builders stuff. He said that he uses just a decent brand builders silicone, but it MUST be the HIGH MODULUS stuff. I think most frame and window seals are this. We sell Dow Corning 785 at work, which is a high modulus - a tube of clear to me at staff rates is just 85p - a lot cheaper than the stuff chandlers sell!
  23. Paul, BW has her bracket on the highest notch. The engine is then tilted back and clipped up on the notch - this means no matter how fast or slow Im travelling the aux. is always clear. As for lowering it at sea, it is a little tricky, but not too bad once youve had a little practise - on a clam day, not when your arse end into a SW F5 swell!!! One final tip. I have fitted a baby rachet strap around the engine and back around the nearest cleat / fairlead and pull tight. This stops the engine from bounching around too much and takes the strain off the bracket on both the engine and the bracket itself. Adam
