  1. But how was the fishing Coddy!...Bet youre missing the wind and cold back home..!!!
  2. As the planned trail-away was cancelled this weekend, the replacement date is now the weekend of the 4/5th of Sept. Post here if you can make it. Times and plans all the same as before.
  3. This was from a few weeks ago - forgot to post it!...
  4. Heres my 2nd ever Blonde ray, part of a 3 fish catch.
  5. Well, as most of you know, the Weymouth trail-a-way as cancelled as Potland forecast was F4-5 SW. Mavericjk and BW decided instaed to take advantage of the weather window (compared to late) and have a bash from Poole. We launched at 9am, and head out to the Spoil Grounds, passing Ow Much on the way. Mackeral were impossible with Alan (whippet - my crew) and I taking just 3 fish in 1 hours feathering!!!. Luckily we had a few squid and eels aboard. We settled near one of Pete Snr's 'Secret' Blonde ray marks, as both Alan and myself had never caught a blonde. Sport was pretty consistent with me taking my 1st Blonde at 3/4lb 1st cast, and then Alan following it up with another of the same size. I then had a 12lber, which made my day, followed by another 3/4lber. A surprize bass completed the days catch. The weather stayed reasonable, with it gusting 4/5 SW at the end, so we came back in about 5pm. An enjoyable day! - Thanks to Alan for the company, thanks to Pete for the mark (shall guard it with my life!!) Looks like it could be the last trip for a while - Gale 8's forecast this week!
  6. Dave, I think that weekend is when I will plan to re-organise the Weymouth trail-a-way...keep your eyes peeled for details. Adam
  7. Yes, as Martin says - the Weymouth trip has been postponed due to bad weather. It will be re-organised in the next few weeks, and Ill post the new dates here. The replacement trip is to be from Poole. Blue Warrior with whippet, and Maverick with Pete Snr are launching from Poole at 9.00am - any other boats are welcome. Cheers Adam

    Outboard Oil

Nice one Bob...Ill have a gander!
  9. I could do Sat at a push...but same as you..need crew. Shall we decide 2moro evening? Failing Weymouth, could always do a trip from Poole?
  10. We will wait until sat before making the final decision - unfortunatly this means that I cant pre-order the eels, as it is unfair on the chap. Just seen the forecast this morning and it looks reasonable for sat at least.

    Stolen Boats

Makes you sick.... From the similarity of the 2 boats, sounds like they were stolen to order. Lock up your boats!
  12. Les, youre there. We should be able to fit you in somewhere. Ill let you know.
  13. What do we think about the weather for Sunday then?? Long range suggests at least F3, with hints of 4. Direction is SW. Not being a regular Weymouth visitor Im not too sure on what conditions the Shambles are fishable in? I would suggest no more than what is forecast at least? Shall we have a straw poll...Ill then contact the eel man and sort out our bait. Adam
  14. Cheers Charlie! I have altered the mk1 design. I had originally used a 20l clear container from B&Q, but it wasnt high enough to allow gravity to self drain it. Whippet has now very kindly got me a 60l blue bin. I will fix both the inlet and outlet ports 3/4 the wya up the bin. The inlet comes in through a rubber collor in the splash well and the outlet will be via a skin fitting on the well also. I have mounted the bilge pump on a removable bracket so it can be cliped to the transom .

    Outboard Oil

....but if you read the post I have a 4 stoke???!! I know how oil works in a 2 stroke....but isnt a 4 stroke similar in many ways to a car?

    Outboard Oil

What oil must I use in my OB?? I have a 1999 Mariner 50hp 4 stroke. I have been using the pukka Quicksilver jobbie, but was wondering if car engine oil can be used? Not too bothered as uses very little - but have loads of car oil doing nowt in garage.
  17. Also good is here: http://www.cheaplifejackets.co.uk/
  18. The cartridges last at least 3 years, they reccommend manually inflating the jackets once a year - through the mouth piece - and checking for leaks thats all. Pumpkin dont have a site im pretty sure - Paul D may be able to give you the details,
  19. My guess?.... Boats, BBQ's and gas bottles dont mix very well..... Ho hum...another inshore wreck to fish then!
  20. Right you two 'trigger' happy pair!!!!...I really fancy catching a trigger, can you give me the rough area you were fishing?? Numbers by PM are also appreciated!!!
  21. I dont think you need worry...they are tested to BS standards, and Im sure that if they didnt work all of the time, then they wouldnt be on sale. Best to have auto, that way if the gas doenst go, you can pull the cord. I have set mine off twice now (by accident) and they work VERY well!
  22. UPDATE: Blue Warrior: Adam + 1 Maverick: Martin + 1 Splash-Out: Bob + 1 Loyal Royal: Mark + 1 Neo: Paul + 1 Thats our 5 boats....and crew: Mike Harvey - Neo Paul J - Loyal Royal Pete Snr - Maverick Dave UK - Splash-Out Alan (whippet) - BW That all plans out rather nicely. I will wait to see the weather before I call the eel man...its looking a little iffy at the moment, hopefully it will improve for the weekend. We will aim to meet at the slip for 7-7.30am and be launched by 8am. Adam
  23. Hi- welcome back! I agree there is now a massive selection to choose from in the lifejacket market. I have just bought 3 for my new boat, and here's the reasons I considered: I wanted all 3 the same - picture the scenario - you are sinking and hand out jackets to your crew, you have 3 jackets 2 good ones and a cheaper brand - who do you give the cheap one to???? I bought 3 good quality jackets - hurt the pocket, but can you put a price on safety - especially when the difference between a cheaper brand and a decent auto inflate may only be 15-20 quid. I went for auto inflate jackets - if you are knocked unconscious and go in the wet stuff, the jacket does all the work. Most of the jackets you see advertised are decent, mine are XM models, cant vouch for the others as havent tried them. I can reccommend these, they also have a heavy duty S/S lifting ring on the buckle if the RNLI need to use it. I paid
  24. Pete - you are logged in, Im sure we can find you a place on the trip. Just as an update - We have decided on Sun 22nd, I will type a post on Weds giving the details and boat allocations and I will ring you all as well. I will phone Eddy the Eel in the week and see if I can pre-book a few eels.
  25. There's a joke in ther somewhere about a warehouse...!!
