No I havent weighed BW. The spec sheet from Warrior gives the 165 at 1200kgs. I carry quite a bit of kit on mine, but try not to overload it, so I reckon on BW being between 1200 and 1400kgs. Duncan, have you tried looking through the trailer section on boats and outboards?
-
The Explorer is a 165 equivelent - they dont do a 150 type boat. I think the package weight of a 165 is about 1200kg.

Duncan, Detective??....maybe!, saw the Laguna in the drive, saw it was Bristol, saw it was a 15' fishing boat...with no engine, and saw the engine was a Suzuki!! On the trailer front: As the Explorer is basically a Warrior - you MUST make sure you get a 32 roller trailer. Warrior WILL ONLY guarentee their boats on these. This is because a trailed boat takes a lot of strain whilst on the road, the 16 extra supports cradle the boat far better and spread the load - but have a word with Explorer and see if they echo this. This would then be the indespension roller coaster - about 1200 quid methinks. Also, the whole package will weigh more than 750kgs - the legal weight for an unbreaked trailer - so you MUST go braked. Also using the Laguna, you wont feel the boat when trailering with a braked set-up. Crayside have a trailer sales section, sometimes roller coasters crop up here. Hope this helps? Adam

I like to use : http://www.onlineweather.com/v4/uk/sailing/SF24.html It is always a little over pesimistic, and I reckon about 90% accurate (pretty good for a weather site!) anyway, as they usually err on the side of caution if it looks good enough on here, it is usually good enough at sea. As MM said wind direction is paramount. Living a reasonable distnace from the sea myself, I only go when I KNOW I can get out!!

Interesting!!!! I have a 48 73138 A40 14P on the new engine which according to the link you posted is a 10 1/4 x 14 pitch. The prop form the old 50hp is the same as the one you have, so I have 1" extra pitch on the new prop....the plot thickens. I can get about 5250 Rpm at the moment on the engine which has done 3 hours, so I rekon that the smaller prop would give me WOT 6000 rpm... I think Ill whip the new prop off and try the old one - if it works, when Tony comes back Ill exchange the new prop for a 13 pitch, and then Ill have 2, 1 as a spare.

I have one of these : http://www.icpsolar.com/specifications.php3?id_article=10 Fitted into a slot on the Tonneau cover on BW. It plugs into the ciggie port and just drip feeds the 2 x batts while not in use. Does it work?....well I always have full battery power when I go out!

Duncan, Only you know what you really want - if you have done the groundwork - go with your instinct. Explorer have been around for at least a few years now, they get good press and are almost identical to the 165. If the boat is a few weeks late, then its not too big a deal......go for it!! and good luck! BTW - is this yours by any chance??... http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F45778/

I think I have to agree with Maverick - all the symptoms I mentioned yesterday are the same..... Tony is on holiday now for 3 weeks - will I be able to run the engine easy until then without any problems?? Coddy what prop do you have?? The engine comes with a free 20 hour service. The engine, gearbox and hydrolic oil is all changed and the engine is plugged into the computer via the ECU to check its performance. If I go to Tom, what will a nw prop cost me? If I wait until Tony comes back wil he change the prop FOC??

Took Bw with her new engine out today to 'run-her' in.... Read the book and it gives the same as Coddy suggests: 1st hour: Not more than 3500 rpm - vary throttle 2nd hour: Not more than 4500 rpm - vary throttle, and give full throttle 1 min in every 10 next 8 hours - full throttle for not more than 5 mins at a time. Did 3 hours today - but as I have never run a new engine in before what should I expect??? The run out to the spoil grounds took 1 hour at 6 knots, I then tried to increase to 4500 rpm, but 4000 was max, after a while it seemed to loosen a little and 4500 was possible. Coming in we managed 5000 and about 20/21 knots, but this took a while to reach. The 'hole shot' to get up onto the plane seemd very slow also? Coddy gets 26 knost from the same boat and engine??? Do engines take a while to loosen up? Is this normal? Could I have too big a prop?

Perfect!!!....I must get hunting, although from looking at the link, it seems they only come with the pump, not as a seperate clip?
-
Interesting! - I must admit I didnt know the hull looked like that from the rear, and that the seahog and the 160 were the same thing. I would be interested to see hoe they perform at sea compared to the Warrior -esque boats - I cant fault mine - from high speed in flat calm to slower in lumpy seas it is stable and smooth.

BW is back on the drive tonight after a short 3 hour operation - she now has new shoes!!!....and what spankers they are to!.. 60hp of gleaming EFI, 4 stroke wonder!! Bit late to post a piccie, so will do 2moro. Off out of Poole tomorrow to run the engine in, and do a bit if fishing with Jimbo!! The only hard bit was handing Tony the cheque - I just closed my eyes! ....

HISTORY LESSON!!! The original mould was for a 'Delmar' these were the original 'Warrior' type boats. From these then came the Predator and Warrior (not sure what order) then later the Explorer Elite and lastly the Endeavour...pheww! Some of the moulds look very similar others not so, but the underwater section remains the same. Adam

Good to have you back ol' mate!!! Blew the cobwebs away did it!! Better leave you to it - expect youve got bout 30 pages of threads to read!

Alan, I cant find a side bracket anywhere!! Did you have to order it?? I was thinking of a smaller type bracket where the small base which is fairly flush stays on the transom (and is out of harms way as it only protrudes 1/4") and the main bracket stays on the pump clipping to the bracket when needed. Similar to the way my compass fits on....but havent found this type of clip yet!!

Just been surfing to find out about perpex windows and found this: http://www.convertiblecar.com/products/p_wpolish.php Ordered a 30ml bottle - only 5 quid, and will see how good it is before I go and replace the windows - Ill let you know how it goes!

DIY seems the way to go then?.... The tinted stuff IMO is far better than clear. It gives UV protection to gear inside the boat, makes driving on bright days easy and makes the overall look of the boat far better - and as you say, if from Warrior it would be tinted anyhow. The largest sheet is 3000 x 2000mm. This was

Thanks Alan - good idea. Where did you get the side mounting bracket for the pump from? Is it worth getting one - or would you fabricate something? Will your pump therefore be perminantly attached to the boat? at the moment mine just dangles over the side!

Definate Date: Sunday 3rd Oct, weather dependant,...so start praying!!

Glad you got your plotter Alan - Youll be well pleased with the 182C. I had a look at the smaller colour unit and wasnt really impressed - the extra money is worth spending. Ref windows. Ziplex has sent me a sample of some 5mm solar bronze perspex - it is the nutts, and is better than the Warrior stuff IMHO. A sheet 2050 x 1520 is

Alan what is the green thingy used as a mesh filter??

OK send it over!! One thing that has got me thinking: Tony said that the engines come with a tachometer but nowt else? The Mariner book I got from the show says they come with: Fuel tank, control box, tacho, trim gauge.???? any ideas? Ill have a look on ebay for an engine meter - are they easy to fit?
