Terry, There is a thread somewhere on here, but in summary - I used Lexan Marguard - bought from a supplier on Ebay - in 6mm (I think) This is is the stuff riot shields are made from and is as clear as glass but 200x stronger and is scratch resistant. I took off the old windows as a template, rough cut within 2/3mm with a slow fine jigsaw (to avoid melting the plastic) and then clamped the template to the rough cut and used a laminate trimmer in a router to get an exact cut (it's a little tricky but doubale as you need to ensure the roller sits on the thin old window. I think I also put a 45deg bevel on the ouside edge. Thats the hard bit - I didnt bother bolting the new windows except for a couple on the side windows to ensure they bend slightly around the cuddy, I just bedded them in on a bed of black sikaflex. Hope that helps. Adam

Looks like you need new windows Terry? An easy job and one of the best IMO for the Warriors.

    Sandeel Trawl

I'm after one of these - anyone got one or know of one?
  8. Sounds obvious but specific to Xchurch and the Run: Make sure they stick rigidly to the channel through the harbour, it is VERY shallow either side, often even at HW. The channel markers are removed in Winter. The run - itself isnt that bad. I guess the main issue is coming off the power - you dont stop! Make sure they are familiar with the yellow channel markers on the seward side of the fun. Going out or coming in on a flooding tide is always easier than trying to squeeze out on the last of the ebb. Air pressure can have a massive effect of tide times and heights here.
  9. Anyone fancy a few hours basing on tues morning? 7am till 11pm? Post here or ring me if interested
  10. No. Whiplash white in 25 or 30lb my choice.
  11. What a great club. Thanks for the offer's Martin and Tom. Sam Chapman also called an offered. Paul Frey has accepted and will be skippering. Amazing to get so many offers. Thanks guys.
  12. Anyone fancy skippering a dive rib on Sat morning in exchange for a pile of fresh scallops? Phil and I are diving but have been let down and don't have anyone to skipper? If you fancy it ring me ASAP on 07957 829902
  13. Well it wasnt just teachers that were on Strike today... so were the bass!! Exactly 1 year ago to the day 'The Dream Team' (Al, Me and Rob F) had a red letter day off the IOW on the bass with 17 fish in 3 hours to just under double figures - so why not keep the tradition and try again this year? The aim was 5 plump bass to feed the 70 odd people at the BBQ on Sat. Due to Rach being on a course I was left with Nursary duties which meant a late start and missing the early morning flood so we had ebb tide all day - not the best in my experiance. We tried the Bridge - nothing, several banks South of the Island.... nada... despite a tank of bristling micro joeys we couldnt buy even a take, and ended back drifting Poole entrance where Rob and Al managed 1 each... What a crap day. 60 litres of fuel and a whole day out for a bucket of macky and 2 schoolies. Goes to show even the best of us cant find them all the time!
  14. When Lady Bad luck kicks in it can effect the best of us. I rekon the stopper is well worth looking into - I will be. FWIW - I wont proceed with the anchor recovery unless I (or my crew) can see the buff all from the moment I go forward to the time it pops up past the stern. Frequently I start forward loose sight and then drift or motor back tigh until I/m 100% sure where the buoy is.
  15. Graham, I'm in the office on Friday if you want to do that?
  16. Niggle - Conolon x 2 James - Abu x 1 Graham - Abu x 1 Gents - I cant make the next club meeting, are any of you going to be at the BBQ at the weekend?
  17. Bad luck Charlie, Goes to show even those of us who do it alot get it wrong sometimes (but that is twice now... I seem to recall Speedy Rock ) Just teasing! This is one of the reasons I try to always buddy boat when going further offshore, it's such a piece of mind. One question - would a 'stopper triangle' holding the buff a boat length off the bow have helped? I ask as I always find the most dangerous time in recovering using the Alderney buoy is when the buoy runs down the bow and before it pops up past the stern, most of the time Ive a crew at hand to grab the line and pop it over (not around) the rear post, but I wonder if having the buff in view at all time would have helped? Adam PS - Well done Dave
  18. Yep. A pair of 12lb Kenzaki's and a pair of Avets. I really cannot praise the Avets enough - super smooth, last weekend certianly gave them a good run!
  19. Here we go Charlie: Sorry it misses of the end bit - the free version of the file convertor I used lost the last few secs. Hope you like it.
  20. I know Charlie - but to be fair, I dont buy on a whim, Ive had some use out of the Conolons, and it's taken me ages to decide to move to Kenzaki's. The Avets are a no brainer - ive been on the look out for a decent set of reels for ages - these are the nuts! I'll see if I can sort the video for you... James - yes rod holders here waiting for you also.
  21. All sold. Thanks guys. I'll bring to next meeting. James - I'll bring when we go fishing in a few weeks. ... now to get the Kenzaki's and Avet's on order in 12lb flavour....
  22. Yes Nige. Shall I bring to the next meeting?
  23. Need to make a bit of room for new toys... so I have: 2 x Abu 7000 Big Game Narrow Lever Drags (the gold ones) fully loaded with newish 30lb Whiplash braid - you cant buy these anymore, they were about
  24. Matt, A 15lb Smoothie is 100% so you would have been 3rd as it stands at the moment! Adam
  25. I'm looking to get over to Cherbourg again sometime around the weekend of the 23rd July. Plans are flexible at this stage, but I'm looking at 1 night away, 2 full days wrecking. Either Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun. Anyone welcome, but provided I can get at least 1 buddy boat I'm up for it. Mark from Alderney Angling is also coming over to join and fish with us. Adam
