  1. So sorry for the lack of info on this guys, not been online for 3 or 4 days. Basically the Poole Cod Comp dictated whether our would get fished - as they postponed, so will we. I guess it also makes sense to continue to support there comp and move ours to the 10th Jan too. A good call I think, it's blowing hard here today! Seasons greetings!

  3. Bu&&er!! The first year for 10 years that I dont have to do stocktake over xmas and the comp is on a day when the outlaws are coming over for xmas dinner....
  4. I'll be out on JV for this one. If the forecast holds I'll be trying for flounder on the spoil grounds with squid... At least one space on JV if anyone wants it?
  5. Roll up, roll up!! This one wont get postponed!! Sunday 20th is the annual PBSBAC Xmas Fayre. There is a prize for this comp for the best specimen flounder of a luxuary xmas hamper, inc. wine, cheese, preserves, smoked salmon etc... The published comp sheet says 7am to 2pm, but it'll still be dark at 7, so we will be fishing 8am to 3pm, with the scales closing at 4pm sharp. Names here please to give me an idea who is fishing? 1.) Adam F
  6. Anchor.
  7. You are OK in the morning HW is about 8.30am. LW in the afternoon is about 4pm and is a 0.7m - you dont want to be coming up the run anywhere near that! Is you go to the island you'll be on 2lb+ of lead. Do what I'm doing and fish the dolphin bank inshore. Go out and come back early.
  8. Comp Postponed again. NNE 5-6 is the forecast. Next weekend is the flounder comp, so I guess the next logical option is to move it to the 27th and double up with the Poole Sea Angling Center cod comp?
  9. Just an update on the comp - it's looking pretty borderline from where I sitting at the moment. 15-18knots of NE..... Not sure - it's not a no-brainer, so I'll make a call on Sat morning if that's OK??
  10. Check under the seats.... that where I used to hide them!! on 2nd thoughts you'd be made to be drinking beer on a day as cold as today....brrrr

    Worktop offcut??

It's the Utility room - so the wife's domain.... hence the colour request!! It looks fine to me Zippy, sorry to be picky, but I'll check with the boss and let you know? Cheers

    Worktop offcut??

Thanks Zzippy, what colour is it?

    Worktop offcut??

I'm after a half decent piece of worktop for my utility room, but dont want to buy a full length, as I'm only after 1.5m Any colour finish etc considered as I'm not matching in to anything. Anyone got anything in the garage?
  14. Sorry for the late reply, been out all day. If you havent guessed already the comp is postponed again - new date 13th Dec
  15. Just a reminder that it's also the date for the first aid course I know - I'm on the course... ... most of the rest of the club arnt though and I'm running out of days!
  16. Sun - 35 knots and 5m seas on Windguru. COMP POSTPONED.....again!! NEW DATE: SUNDAY 6TH DEC
  17. Not looking good is it? I'll hang fire until Friday evening and then call it. If I do cancel the alternative date will be the 13th Dec. After that it would mean combining the Xmas Fayre Flounder comp or forgetting it all togoether. Blasted weather!!
  18. I dont bother tying them before I go - it just gives them a chance to go rusty. I tie them on site. I use 60lb trace with a pair of 6/0 Varivas Big Mouth's for cod. I 'snell' (google it) the top hook using a knotless-knot and then tie on the bottom hook. This gives a fixed pennel. For whiting - a simple patenoster made from 30lb mono, a swivel top and bottom and make a pair of booms from the trace line with overhand loops. Simples.
  19. Dont get your hopes up too early! Windguru is giving it nasty still! Lets keep our eyes peeled towards the end of the week.
  20. It looks crap I'll eat my hat if it is fishable on Sunday! Therefore COMP IS POSTPONED The new date will be Sunday 29th.
  21. A little too early to make the call, but looking at Windguru, maybe not! I'll make a call by Weds. Looks pretty dire for the weekend
  22. You beat me to it Al. I agree. I suggest we move it 1 week to the 29th Nov. Adam
  23. You need a FENSA certificate.... offically. You'll have to ring me mate, in a bit hectic at the moment and not online much. I'll try and grab a kitchen brochure when I next in the office and drop it by.
  24. Charlie, If youre fitting the windows yourself, we sell these. Ditto the kitchen and the flooring etc - well in fact anything you need, just drop me a line. Adam

    COP specs

http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/brown-withpage8.pdf Its a long document, but worth reading through and understanding the basics. If you are building it and intend to actually get it coded, you'll need to follow it to the letter, plus take advice from your surveyor. If you just want the boat to be near to coding as reasonably possible (as I did) read it, makes notes on the pertinant areas and do your best. As you mention the basics are things like rail heights, upstands on deck hatches, saftey rails and wires. Things like nav lights need adhering to even outside of the COP. For our sized boats it is all pretty simple.
