Good point Rob. I loved loved my digi scales over the past few years - they are bomb proof, unlike spring or dial scales which do need looking after.... ....but after yesterday I've lost faith in them and will be going back to a trusty set of Reuben Heatons or Salters. I test mine periodically (about once a year!)

Well.... I'm not superstitious.... but.... you never know! I didnt want to take the risk when I bought my Warrior 175 - which was named - 'Old Trout'!!! So I made up a teak name plate with old trout on it and glued it inside the steering console..... ..... then changed the name to Out of the Blue. ...... then 4 months later the engine blew up!! Mind you - I didnt change the name of Blue Warrior and she blew up too!!

Boat polishing is hard work, so I like to keep it simple. An electric mop does help. I use Farecla http://www.farecla.com/ as a cutting compound if I need to shift any scratches. As for polish - the Carnuba wax is pretty good - but after trying many things the longest lasting I've found is Auto Glym - Super Resin Polish. Mainly sold for polishing cars - it is so, so easy to use - doesnt take much elbow grease to polish it off and leaves a really nice coating on the gelcoat. For those who dont know, regular applications of a wax/polish stops the gel going chalky, makes the water run off the surface easier and makes the boat easier to clean. Bob and I polished JV the other week - took about 10 mins

Yep. I looked at one of these to re-engine a Featon 630 a few years ago. I was warned away as they are a small high revving deisel that needed to run flat out to get the power they needed in most installations - that meant that whilst OK in many instances, they have a high instance rate of failures, such as pistons and big ends going. Do an internet search - plenty of info. Adam

LW is 5pm, so we will be having an early start and early finish to get back on the mooring as it's a big tide. I'd love to fish Sat night for the sole, but pink points wont stretch that far! I'll be out next week in the evening for the soles...

Is it worth it? Yep - if youve never been before. Youre hard pushed to find many bargin nowadays, with Ebay and the online stores, the prices at the show arnt any better, but it's the best show around as many boats are on the water. Just makes a nice day out.

Really? So what are the other options? Did Charlie use normal antifoul, by protecting the leg from reaction in the antifoul using a primer?? Boat coming out in a week so I need to know what to apply? Went down today and barnacles are EVERYWHERE!!! inside the leg, in the water pick ups.... dont think a jet wash will take them off!! On the upside the hull antifoul is working great - just a slime on the hull.

Bob gave it a quick scrub but it needs a really good clean. I could dive it, but it is so filthly only getting it out will sort it. Worst case scenario we will dry her out at Baiter over a tide.

Having not been out on JV for 3 months due to the new family, I popped down today to fuel her up for the Open tomorrow. Fueled and ready I took her up the harbour to check all OK - except not At 3000rpm which usually gives about 25 knots I managed just 10 knots. Flat our gave me 14!! It sounded aweful, and was vibrating like made..... Back at the marina I raised the leg for a look - ah...... half of Poole Harbour now seems to be growing on the leg - the shitty spray on Trilux clearly not working. Anyway - I couldnt clean it with a brush and sponge, so it needs to come out for a good scrub and re-antifoul. Problem is cant really justify
