    Conger Piccy!

Wow!! Didnt think they were THAT good! Let me know when your qualified and I'll take you out. Swanage pier has some of the most diverse marine life Ive seen around the whole of the south cost - in just 4/5 mtrs of water ive seen in the last few years: black faced blennies, lumpsuckers, john dory, triggers, all of the wrasse we encounter....

    Devonshire Cup Coral I think?

    Woodwork

Surely youre boat buddy Mr Vazey can sort you out?
  4. Thanks to all who fished - a good turn out - must have been the poo weather we've been having! I'll sort the scores this week when they are all in. Sorry for the lack of reply to Q's as to the comp on or not. Ive not been able to get online since Friday and guessed with a good forecast you'd all be out anyway. Rgds Adam
  5. Same as usual dave. 2 hooks on 1 rod, or 1 hook on 2 rods. Feathers can be used as can any lure. The fish must be caught on a lure - not bait. I'm unclear on baited lures - think we ruled against this.
  6. Yep, looks like it's going to be on. 1 - Gordon Holt 2- Charlie C 3 - Dan C 4 - Colin 5 - Bobbi Add your name to the list if you want to fish.
  7. http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=1150 Looking borderline at the moment. I'll keep an eye on it an make a call Fri.

    Poole Accomidation

    Anyone?
  9. A couple of the Burnham guys are coming down in a few weeks - does anyone know of a B&B that has room for a couple of boats on trailers? Either that or somewhere to store the boats overnight? Thanks

    Conger Piccy!

Thanks guys The colour that you see if the result of using a strobe - it doesnt look like that with the MK1 eyeball.... The redgill in the conger pic is a std 9" one so the eel was about 20/30lb. The biggest one Ive seen was sat in the conning tower of the M2 Sub in lime bay - head like a horse! It's amazing the kit you see on the wrecks - the Binnendyk was covered on Tues - I could have had about a dozen big new flashy pirks - just didnt fancy getting a treble in a grand's worth of drysuit! James - yes it is a leopard goby - stunning. It's surprising the amount of mini species you see - hundreds of pout, pollock and wrasse, but blennys, gobies, ballions wrasse, etc... I'll do a slide show when I do the video in a few months time at the meeting.
  11. *** CANCELLED *** I'm pulling the plug early on this one - it's a no brainer - the weather just looks pants. New date - Sunday August 2nd

    Conger Piccy!

No problem - all take on Tues on either the Frognor or the Alex Van Opstal out of Weymouth - circa 30-35m: Just for Charlie...
  13. A conger peering out from the Alex Van Opstal on Tues...
  14. This Sunday is meant to be the annual Lure Comp - best specimen caught on a lure.... however the weather isnt looking too good. I'll start a list for who's fishing, but keep and eye on the weather and I'll post Fri / Sat AM with a decision. 1.) Adam F
  15. It's hard - but waiting and biding your time is the best advice. Having bought 5 boats now - every time waiting for the 'right' one has paid off - you'll know when the right package comes up. If you decide the Drago is for you - keep an eye out, another will come up.
  16. As others have said - nowt wrong with the boat. Ive had boats before with inappropreate engines.....you just pay extra later - sounds obvious I know, but a cheap package isnt so when youve forgettern the initial purchase cost and need to start purchasing other kit. Esp if you need a trailer too.

....mind you the big one looks damn nice! http://www.glacierbaycats.com/show/boats/m...dy_hardtop.html What sort of money is the 23' then Tom?

LOL! You make me laugh... The 'best' cat in the World.... that is some statement Tom. You been on one in UK waters? I'm teasing a little.... and they do actually look like a nice boat. I'd compare them to a Trophy with 2 hulls. Very little room on the deck in the photos - a couple of tackle boxes, a live tank etc and no room for anglers - IMHO this is where the Cheetah scores. I think for a hardcore UK fishing cat up to 7m then the Cheetah wins. Over this then you get alot more choice - but the cost really rockets. I also found even the 7m Cheetah out of my budget when I looked - for a start the running gear is x2.....

They dont really make a boat in this category? Sure the P3 25' but that is a short version of yours and bought factory finished from Offshore would be alot more than the boats above and probably without the finish as you said yourself - they build workboats? Col - drop me a PM when you are free and I'll take you for a whizz in JV. Adam
  21. Jim, Have a chat with me at the next meeting about replacing Warrior windows. You can polish them to a degree - but the better option is Lexan Marguard - it is better than glass. Gordon Moore saw mine and did his straight away. I did both Blue Warrior my 165 and Out of the Blue my 175. The stiff Warrior fit is sh%te. This stuff doesnt scratch either. They make riot shields out of it! There is quite a long thread on here somewhere if you search around. Adam

Tomo has the newer one built by Pembrokeshire Yachts - he has a 225 Honda on it and all the toys - very nice. Trev's one is one of the original MI's built by Souter - if you are looking a new package or nearly new then have a look at Just Perfik (Tomo's) I was in a very similar situation a few years back - wanted to move from a day boat to something bigger, and the MI21 was on the list. I had a good look at the Cheetah and was hugely impressed, but the one big downside was the lack of bunk space for overnighting - you loose it due to the catamaran hull giving no space up front. Apart from that they are awesome fishing machines - immensly stable and nippy with just small engines. If it helps before we bought the Aquafish the list was something like: Pirate 21 Cheetah Cat 6.8m Arvor 23/25 Merry Fisher 625/655/695 Rodman 610/700 Pheaton 730 Aquafish 23 We went with the A/fish as wanted somehting offshore capable, sterndrive to keep the speed and fuel economy and wanted 7m+ - plus the idea of building it ourselves won the day. It was a tough decision all the boats were good, it just came down to personal preferance. I'm sure you'll do plenty more research - if you want to chat about my findings drop me a line - if you want a ride out in JV - again, you are more than welcome. Adam

Great boats. Very capable, solidly built - great fishing machines. Quite expensive new for what you get IMO - you get lots, but they cost a bit with all the extras - 2nd hand usually better value. Worth a chat with Tomo or Trev on here.
  24. Was meant to be out diving today - from a boat in Plymouth - had to turn it down at the last minute due to other commitments.... ..... just as well I did - just heard that it sank this afternoon in difficult conditions! The Salcombe ILB and offshore lifeboat safety rescued all onboard - but how bloody scarey!
  25. The last few trips on JV have been nothing short of military precision - the last Alderney trip saw us loading 5 trolley loads of kit onboard, the last mid channel trip - buckets of leads, boxes of shads etc, etc..... ..... so the lats few trips have been the opposite. Ive been going with just the miniumum of gear - a handful of leads, a few swivels, a spool of trace line and a few hooks - all fit into a take away container! Went out this afternoon - knocked off work a few hours early with the plan to fish inshore, mianly in the harbour with just a spinning rod and chill for a few hours... Bought 30 (mostly dead! ) rag from Wessex... and must say I caught a fish on nearly every one - but no target species - just small bass, bream and wrasse - but all good fun! Sometimes simple is better.... the KISS principle. A great way to finish a week.
