I'll run down in JV for a couple of days and 1 night. What days are boats looking at?
-
Frank Morris is on this trip, so you wouldnt be the only club member.
-
Blimey G - that's not like you!
-
Nice report Charlie. As you say one of the best things for me was the way the club atmosphere came through. Boats buddied up without hastle, everyone stayed in touch on the VHF and kept an eye on each others back. To take 9 small boats over the channel, have good fishing and all get back in one peice without any dramas is a big feat. Look forward to the photos.
-
I'll second that. See you all in 4 days
-
Well done mate - more than deserved. I'll get you a cold one on the rock tomorrow to celebrate! Adam PS: I now hear that good ship Alfresco has problems....

Sorry guys - still had results coming in until the last few days. I think we may need to look at a cut off for results and maybe a more consistant format of reporting - but anyway thats for another meeting and discussion. Thanks to all who did fish - great turn out and thanks to all who sent results through. Final results below: Position Points Angler Score 1 20 Alun Jones 54 2 19 Charlie Chapman 45 3 18 Colin Francis 43 4 17 Gordon Moore 42 5 16 Chris Gould 39 6 15 Dan Chapman 28 7 14 Bobbi Francis 27 8 13 Mike Fox 26 9 12 Neal Sturt 24 10 11 John Young 14 10 11 Mark Winfield 14 11 10 Mike Norman 12 11 10 Richard Biggs 12 12 9 Carol Fox 8 12 9 Bill Smith 8 12 9 Rachael Franklin 8 13 8 Gordon Holt 6 13 8 George Fox 6 13 8 Sam Annear 6 14 7 Dave Samual 5 15 6 Paul Dore 4 15 6 Carl Hurran 4 16 5 Pete Russell Snr 3 16 5 Adam Franklin 3 17 4 Charlie Annear 2 18 3 Aaron Murray 1 19 2 Paul Fray 0

Hi Dan. There is a red and white Warrior 175 that fishes out of Lymington (or at least used to) that has a homeade version fitted to his transom. Same principle, but with smaller tubes to suit the mackeral. Pretty simple set up - same kind of pump used for a tank, fitted to a manifold made from plastic tubing to feed water into the tanks. In my opinion, realistically you could only fit up to a dozen to your transom, which isnt alot of livebait when bassing.... Stick to a tank, it suits UK fishing better. Adam

Just spoke to Kev on Yelo, and him and Matt will be leaving with Court Jester under the 6.30am bridge on Friday morning. Adam
-
No one biting then?..... Ah, well - JV will be going Cant wait - I'm sure a few text updates will find there way to the forum over the weekend. I'll be thinking about all of you back here..... JV - Leaving PBM at 6.30am with 3 onboard
-
Well, I'm afraid that JV wont be going. We've made the call and think the forecast isnt good enough to risk a trip across. Best of luck to those who do get over.
-
Yes, even Monday that was looking a bit ikky is better and Tues looks good too. The worst at the moment is Thurs / Friday - sat here now an early start and a straightish run over suits to miss if it does get up. Bl$$dy work tomorrow.... it's taking an age to get here!! Duncan - are you coming? I also hear that AWOL has got the biggest half of the engine in and is now waiting for a leg....fingers crossed! Plan A for JV still looking best - 6am start on Friday
-
Struggling to work out a plan for fueling - the tides are crap. JV will leave Poole with approx 170 ltrs on board. Assuming we use 100 crossing on the first day, that leaves us a little tight for day 2? We will def. need fuel for day 3, and then would like to set off home with a full tank. Fuel windows assuming 2 hrs =/- HW are: 11am - 3pm on Sat (so could have an early bath and nip in to re-fuel at 3pm - could be a que with all of use though) 12.30 - 4.30pm on Sun (4.30pm would be good to fuel up for return the next day?) Windows on Friday are too early, and too late on Monday. We will have 2 x 20l jerry cans onboard for worst case scenario, we can fuel manually. My best guess so far is to manually fuel on Sat morning (assuming Mainbrace are open) to get us through to 4pm on Sunday where we will fuel for the return? Is access really just 2hrs either side - we only draw 3ft?

Ive now deleted Metcheck from my favourites - it changes so often and has long periods of data unavailable that I'd got fed up with it. Windguru and XC Weather are the two I'm watching. But they are up and down like the proverbial! Ive been sulking all day as they were looking windy, only to re-check now and see it looks OK again!! AHHH!!! These last few days leading up to the trip are always agony!!
-
Yeah, I'll prob stick with the cooker too - although I do have a small sheet of glasroc here that is fireproof? Forecast is turning again.... borderline this side but CI's look pretty windy
-
Good point. Maybe I'll float the BBQ then! Thurs will be an option for me, if later next week the forecast for Sun / Mon turns crap.
-
Whats wrong with a BBQ onboard? Anyway BBQ / Cooker - whatever, call it a onboard social / party! Thurs is an option for me, but it's too early to call at the moment - forecasts only showing to Friday look good, so I'll be making the call early / mid next week.

Weather is now looking up - lets hope it holds. One thing I didnt mention the other night - boat BBQ? All being well, and provided the weather allows, I'm planning to have a BBQ onboard one evening. The plan would be to raft all the boats together, each boat looks after it's own food requirements, but a few beers and a BBQ on the boats could be a good laugh? There are shops on the island for those who want to stock up for it, but I'll be throwing a disposible BBQ onboard and a box of frozen burgers and sausages int he ice box.

Updated now: Position Points Angler Score 1 20 Alun Jones 54 2 19 Charlie Chapman 45 3 18 Gordon Moore 42 4 17 Chris Gould 39 5 16 Dan Chapman 28 6 15 Mike Fox 26 7 14 Neal Sturt 24 8 13 John Young 14 9 12 Mark Winfield 14 10 11 Mike Norman 12 11 10 Richard Biggs 12 12 9 Carol Fox 8 13 8 Bill Smith 8 14 7 Rachael Franklin 8 15 6 Gordon Holt 6 16 5 George Fox 6 17 4 Sam Annear 6 18 3 Dave Samual 5 19 2 Paul Dore 4 20 1 Carl Hurran 4 20 1 Adam Franklin 3 20 1 Charlie Annear 2 20 1 Aaron Murray 1 I have no issue with adding those who fished but didnt catch, but to be honest it's been quite a task pulling this together with the varied format I received the results in.

Someone (Duncan?) posted a link up with the tidal streams for the islands a little while ago - anyone know where it is? I cant find it? Adam Edit: Found them: http://www.eaubleue.com/DocPDF/IMRAY_2007/...0supplement.pdf
