  1. On a slightly different tack, but still on Bass... I was looking among Al's vast trophy collection this morning, and in particular the Bass specimen trophy. The sizes that have won it have increased every year. It started with an 8lb fish and it was 4 years before a double won it, culminating in Al's magnificent 18lber last year. So - is bass fishing really on the decline? Are we getting better as anglers? Do we have more knowledge as a club now?
  2. Thanks for booking in guys - sorry for the lack of thread on comp - both PD and I have been out all day. Weather was cracking out there today - even better tomorrow, so comp is def. on! Have a good day and stay dafe those who get out. AF

  4. Looking forward to seeing the new arrival!! B&A marine are taking orders for 2009... Hope she goes quick.
  5. I'll have the perfect dive boat in a few weeks! A mate was looking for a rib, so I have passed the details onto him.
  6. Volvo SX Drive.
  7. Will be later, a week or two. I'll check the tide book later and let you know. Adam
  8. Aiming for end of Nov Trev, keep you informed a bit nearer the time. We already have the pennant - Mrs Wedger did one back in May
  9. Big day today..... Bob turns up at 1pm with the last of the steering fluid, Ive been down the petrol station and have 25L of your finest diesel, and after 30 frantic minutes of configerting the ECU Bob pops out a 10p piece and flips me for it.... ....heads - Bob's honour. (oh well, that means I get to drive it first!! ) Drum roll....... ........click........BRRRRRRRMMMMMM!!!!! Sweet, sweet sound, as she purs away. Another big milestone, now we just have a 2 page snagging / last job list to complete!

  13. Hope your'e not thinking of going down to the sky.... ! Weather is going to be cracking!
  14. Nothing wrong with Honda's at all John - good engines. Looks like a good price - one thing I would say is what warrenty did you get? Many on here (me included) have had disasters with 2nd hand engines, so make sure you are covered. PMS are generally pretty good. AF

    Boat Show

Yep - smart tabs and a trim wedge have been pretty much standard fit on the 165 for a few years now. A few moan (usually non 165 owners!) about the slight porposing, but hey - it's a small minor defect on such an otherwise well designed boat - at normal operating speeds it's not an issue. 170? Not seend that before - I thought the more refined 165 was the 165 Pro Angler? Edit: Oooh! Just seen it http://www.warriorboats.co.uk/2008-boats-shows.html Looks like a 165 and 175 morphed - I guess hence the 170... strange how they have shoe horned it in between the three others? Maybe they will phase one out? Good to see they are constantly improving and developing....

    Boat Show

Every year, same question..... I was in the factory 5 years ago and aw the MDF plug for a 20' pilothouse, then 4 years ago I was up again and saw it in GRP, since then it's the same story - 'will be ready for the next show' I think it's more a case of they do so well with the 165 they dont need / want to do anything else - that's why they stopped the 195. Adam
  17. Etec shades it for me - I just feel it's a slightly more modern engin both in looks and technology, and as coddy says, a better resale value. Paul D on here has a 40hp Etec and is delighted with it. My 2p worth.

    Aeolian Sky

We started at the bow where the shot was, and moved south along the portside rail down to the accomidation block. Although it was dark, torches made the wreck recongisable... Plenty of eels on the wreck!! There were 4 dive boats yesterday - until the end of Oct the water stays warm enough to dive for most people, so after then really...

    Aeolian Sky

Rach and I dived the Aeolian Sky today. Was very, very interesting - having fished this wreck dozens of times I had built up a pretty good mind's eye picture of what the wreck looks like. We dived it with a clear sunny sky, yet it was pitch black on the bottom The wreck is quite broken in places and is huge! It's like diving a tower block! You certainly wouldnt want to drag an anchor into it! I can see what it fishes well for eels! No piccies as was a bit dark and murkey, but great to see what the wrecks we fish look like at the other end. Adam
  20. So..... how did you all get on??!! Ive been abscent for a few days and want to hear all the catch reports! Forum has been rather quiet of late. I was out on the sea though, and boy - didnt the forecasters get it wrong?!!? We were expecting F2/3 NE we got a 4/5 SE
  21. Nice to hear... Sorry to Dave that you had problems again, but well done to Charlie for helping out - a great example of what the club is all about!!
  22. Bob and I have worked hard this week.... now the evenings have been drawing in, flood lights in the boat tent have been the order of the week as we burn the midnight oil to get the engine and engine bay ready for the big push.... Charlie and Dan turn up at 9am this morning to help with the effort and at 11am the lorry from work arrives with the HiAb to crane the expensive lump in. After a minor stress the 16 ton lorry sqeezes down our tight lane and amazingly fits up my drive to the waiting boat. Anyway the piccies below tell the story, but 3 hours later and the big empty engine bay has a spanking 190hp Volvo in there and my workshop has a big hole! No problems, no issues, just like clockwork. Nice! Many, many thanks to Alex our driver from Build Center in Salisbury, and Charlie and Dan for their help today - we would have struggled without you! That's the biggie out of the way - a week or so for the upholstry and a few more for finishin touches and the Nov target will loom into view!!
  23. Weather is yuk for Sunday guys - COMP POSTPONED until next weekend - 14th Sept. Adam
  24. Chaps, Sunday is meant to be the re-scheduled Lure Comp. The weather is once again looking hard to call, as it is forecast to blow like hell until early Sunday morning, then drop and switch to the North. The water is likey to be damn murky though due to the blow, so I'm eering on the side of postponing once again - however, I'll post on Sat morning with the decision. Cheers Adam
  25. Yep - of course!! Came from Marine Window fabrications, and are coded. If they dont sit level, then sod all we can do now as they are in!! They dont leak at the moment with all the rain we have had or a hosepipe, and they are only held in with a hand full of screws - but thanks for the heads-up. I know - but it wont get coded straight away, and if it does then we swap to a metal bowl. Adam
