  1. Ahhh!! I'm going to stop entering to get some new blood on the thread... ....so just a quick one this time, 2/3 days max. A topical shot from last weekend..
  2. Thanks Duncan. I must go and try mine, havent a clue what I set them at.....
  3. Book in here!! Sunday is our annual bream comp. Forecast looks OK at the moment, but a bit of wind is scheduled for early next week, so we will keep a close eye on this. Tides for Poole Entrance here: Sun 18 May LW HW LW HW LW HW LW 02:45 07:49 10:17 11:55 15:00 19:35 22:38 0.8 m 1.8 m 1.5 m 1.7 m 0.8 m 2.0 m 1.6 m I'll be on holiday in Rome on Sunday for my 1st Wedding Anniversary, so will miss the comp ( ) but I'll be around until Sat eve for booking in and calling the comp re. weather. The winner from last Sunday reported over 200lb of bream between two of them from a mark to the west This is also the 2nd comp for the BFM league - so we need at least 15. Who's in then??

    What now!!?

A bit more progress today. Good mate Dave has started in earnest on the stainless fabricating and polishing up 8 rocket launcher rod holders and starting to machine the bases up for the numerous rails and stainless fixings... http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/photoalbum/thumbnails.php?album=123 Still nothing to fit it too though - both Bob and I are getting the distinct impression this is how much of the marine industry works.... mouldings are 3 weeks overdue already!
  5. I suspect that the excitement of Alderney has meant that Neal has over looked this - we need a winner to keep the thread moving! Neal - can you do the business? Ta!
  6. Sorry for the idiot question.... How do you know you had 20lb of drag dialled in? Presumably the Formula's have a lever drag similar to a TLD20/25... which you can also adjust on the pressure dial on the side resulting in max drag not always being 'murdered up'??
  7. ....and glorious snooring no doubt!! Mark told me quite seriously that he will be offering FOC ear plugs in his guest house - a good idea a how often is it us hairy snooring blokes sleep in the same room.... not often (fortunatly!)
  8. Great news!! Well done Will
  9. Good point - I was on Cyclone when we first tried it - shaft drive. That said, Charlie moored stern on the 2nd night and slept great - sure the mooring was tight to the drive, but Alfresco has a huge pair of buffs onboard which we tied off the stern rails and hung over the drive so the mooring touched this not the drive unit.
  10. I'm no expert Duncan, as I havent had the chance to use my kit in anger, but I went out and bought the kit a few years back with the intention. I used double barrel s/s crimps and galv multi strand wire from B&Q - about half the thickness of bycycle cable. Hooks were 10/0 o'shaughnessy's but since Ive got some proper 'sharp' shark hooks from Mike at UK-Hooks. Hopefully the new boat will give us the chance to have a try!
  11. Too late - she's not here yet and I'm in Love.....

    Anchor

A bruce type anchor seems to be the most commonly used style in the club and the one I use for our waters. Combined with the right size and length of chain a 7kg will be ideal. Dont fret about getting a genuine bruce, there are plenty of cheaper copies out there that work just as well.
  13. Ive been fishing with Gordon more than most - It's sick I tell ya'......sick..... Obsession gone too far
  14. Nice one Terry! A 4lb Turbot is a pretty good fish for the bay Beats steaming 70 miles for one
  15. That's an Undulate Ray, Al. Probably a good thing (?) Undulates are probably rarer than thornbacks and arguably a better catch. Hopefully still a 1st on the boat. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/pages/undulateray.html
  16. Gordon H - you need to speak to Gordon M....you both seem to be in the same boat!!
  17. OH YES!!! Looking forward to it. Funny thing is that since we decided to build 'TBA' Ive had more invites than ever!!
  18. I'm not too keen on fishing a shore comp, but it is a worth cause - cant we have our own boat comp along the same lines? Adam
  19. I'd do Friday as long as it was after bream?
  20. Bl00dy insominiacs!! We're off fishing! See you all Tues
  21. Only 1 more sleeep!!!!

    What now!!?

Well I can tell you that 300kgs of Volvo doesnt move very easily over a shingle driveway. A pallet truck, a dozen lengths of 6x2, many boards, bricks and sweat and she is sat saftely behind lock and key and in the dry. Now we need something to put her in!
  23. " Honest Guv' people pay loads for original features like these - it's rustic innit "

    What now!!?

No turning back now! Why do us blokes like big boxes full of expensive toys!!
