Sorry Boys - this is becoming a bit of a habit of late... SUNDAY'S COMP IS POSTPONED UNTIL 7th SEPT It's been an easy call this weekend and I'm sure no one will argue... Outlook: 0700 Sun 17 Aug 0700 Mon 18 Aug Wind Westerly backing southerly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 later. Sea state Moderate, occasionally rough. Weather Rain or showers. Visibility Moderate or good, occasionally poor. Cheers Adam

Good to see a few people booking in. The forecast isnt too hopeful though - the weekend is sandwiched by strong winds and heavy rain I'll pop a decision on here on Sat. Cheers Adam

The only differance with mine was the pump mounted slightly lower - pretty much level with the bottom of the hull. The rule brackets have elongated bolt holes which allow about 1/2" lateral movement to get the best set-up.
-
Both Blue Warrior and Out of the Blue ( my last two boats) had water pick ups that operated right up to 30 knots but wernt through hill skin fittings. Simple system - a rule bilge pump sat on a sidemount fitting also from Rule. Easy to fit, no holes, cheap, neat instal and very, very effective. This time round though - Ive drilled a hole!!

Nice report Tom - sound awesome. You didnt do a bad job of the photos - its a bit of a nack. If you have any you want clearing up, send them over - Photoshop can work wonders on underwater images. Of course........ I'd rather come with you, even if it wasnt to fish, I could bring my gear and do the underwater photos? (i'd rather fish though!!)

Sorry for the late call guys - another tough decision, so left it as late as possible. COMP IS OFF - POSTPONED UNTIL SAT 23rd AUGUST Sorry chaps. Metoffice are giving SSW 4/5 sea state moderate. Wave height 1.2m and with the quarry being Bass, I want the usual races and reefs fishable to make it a good comp. If it went ahead most boats would be sheltering inshore. Adam

A Sony T50 or a Fuji F31 both here with underwater housings to 40m if you want them. Usual arrangement - you break it you buy it! Adam

Tides are lovely, but the forecast isnt. At the moment SW 4/5 poss. 6 so keep an eye on here as I'll make a call as soon as possible. Adam

That will explain why every emergancy vehicle in dorset overtook me in Poole this morning. Looks nasty...

Me too. I now have a big lure box and keep the different varieties together, or just keep them in the packets they came in. I think the reaction is silicone and latex. Adam

Sorry Simon - this comp has always been on Sat. I even put it in BOLD on the comp sheet so it wouldnt be missed. Thanks to all those who have booked in. I have just had a look back at the Sat vs. Sun thread that run a while ago to see if any of the Sat supporters have booked in.... guess what?.....

A slight change this weekend, as for a change and in response to several members request that they cannot fish Sunday's - this weekend is our annual Bass Specimen Hunt - on SATURDAY. Usual rules, a 7 hour period to be fished between 6am and 6pm. This is a big tide, picked to allow a good crack at the spikeys. There is also a trophy for the best catch and release bass on this comp. Who's fishing then?

Trev, As discussed - I'll take it. Next meeting? Ta

Update. Comp is ON. Latest forecast here: Outlook: 0700 Sun 20 Jul 0700 Mon 21 Jul Wind West or northwest 4 or 5. Sea state Moderate, occasionally slight later. Weather Mainly fair. Visibility Moderate or good. It's not an ideal forecast, but they give the wind dropping off through the week, so nothing nasty lurking. Please bear in mind though, that they are giving 5's, so the smaller boats had best take care. Venturing far offshore will be risky. As always it is the individual skippers responsibility to put to sea on the day. Have a good one those who go. Adam

Hi Guys.. Yep, it's another one of those tough call forecasts again. I pleased to say that the forecast where I will be Sunday is 38c and 3 knot winds.... Anyway - I'm off on Sunday morning so I'll make a call as early as possible tomorrow. At the moment I'd say it's looking like a yes, but with restrictions to inshore and care to smaller boats - all forecasts seem to be giving F4/5 WNW. I'll keep a close eye and post by lunchtime tommorow. Adam

It's similar to a kab, but not the price of a kab. Came from Jennings seating, they are on the web. Welder - the unit was a TIG, but it's a long story how we actually got it done in the end! Welding is somehting I know nothing about, so this was a steep learnign curve. Are you building the flyer from scratch? Bit of a change from the Featon?
-
Mark, What did you go for in the end?

Thanks guys. It has been amazing how much we both underestimated the task - not that it's been a problem, we are both loving every minute of it, and I rush home from work each day just to snatch a few hours work on her. Cair Paravel fit them out in 2 weeks, but then they are just bolting kit on. We have made several major adjustments to the basic boat and are speccing it as high as our skills, time and budget allow. Some days it seems like she'll be in the water next week, other days it seems months off.... One thing is for such - I dont think I'd ever have a factory boat again, it is just great knowing how every inch of the boat is built and constructed as it allows almost all kit to be configured or even manufactured the way you want it. BOOK IN HERE Weather permitting (as always!) this Sunday is species hunt, so a change from the specimen hunts of late. LW at Poole Entrance is 06.30am. Who's fishing then?
-
Nice looking boat mate. Very different from the normal boats we see in use on our shores - and why not? Good on you. Not your usual choice, I'd be interested in hearing your logic for decision. Great fun when we have weather like today, but how will you feel in Dec blasting out to the cod grounds when you have been used to the raider's cuddy? Look forward to seeing her on the water and how she performs. PS: I noticed that Sea Dangler have a report this month on the Pioneer and that Cambrian Boat Centre have taken on the UK dealership for them. Maybe we will see a few more on our shores.# Adam

Well the hard work last week has started to pay off. We had 6 full 12 hour days with 3 of us working supported by good advice from our local life saver Pete finished the welding this morning and I picked the welds this afternoon. So we now have the two Vetus pantograph wipers fitted, the cockpit rails, bulkhead hand rails, roof rails and the superb bow rail all finished and in place. I spent most of the week modifying the engine box as the std affair was in our opinion very poor and allow water to enter the engine bay, and didnt allow full access to the engine room. Bob moved further with the electics and finally we have 3/4 of the 2" D fender fitted...phew! Getting closer!

Andy, I'd like a look at one, just out of curiosity more than anything - maybe you could bring one to a monthly meeting for a demo? Adam

Not quite a catch report, but as the weather has been so crap this week, and I have been on holiday since last Weds, so would have been fishing - I thought I'd give you an update on our build progress. I had some bad news last week, so the boat has been a welcome distraction helping me clear my head. So didnt get much done last week... Anyway, Monday didnt start well either, we soon found out that the pipe bender and the welder we had for our

Last Sunday's comp has been re-scheduled for the 13th of July - same rules as before. Book in here if you are fishing. Adam
