Rach and I dived the Aeolian Sky today. Was very, very interesting - having fished this wreck dozens of times I had built up a pretty good mind's eye picture of what the wreck looks like. We dived it with a clear sunny sky, yet it was pitch black on the bottom The wreck is quite broken in places and is huge! It's like diving a tower block! You certainly wouldnt want to drag an anchor into it! I can see what it fishes well for eels! No piccies as was a bit dark and murkey, but great to see what the wrecks we fish look like at the other end. Adam

So..... how did you all get on??!! Ive been abscent for a few days and want to hear all the catch reports! Forum has been rather quiet of late. I was out on the sea though, and boy - didnt the forecasters get it wrong?!!? We were expecting F2/3 NE we got a 4/5 SE

Nice to hear... Sorry to Dave that you had problems again, but well done to Charlie for helping out - a great example of what the club is all about!!

Bob and I have worked hard this week.... now the evenings have been drawing in, flood lights in the boat tent have been the order of the week as we burn the midnight oil to get the engine and engine bay ready for the big push.... Charlie and Dan turn up at 9am this morning to help with the effort and at 11am the lorry from work arrives with the HiAb to crane the expensive lump in. After a minor stress the 16 ton lorry sqeezes down our tight lane and amazingly fits up my drive to the waiting boat. Anyway the piccies below tell the story, but 3 hours later and the big empty engine bay has a spanking 190hp Volvo in there and my workshop has a big hole! No problems, no issues, just like clockwork. Nice! Many, many thanks to Alex our driver from Build Center in Salisbury, and Charlie and Dan for their help today - we would have struggled without you! That's the biggie out of the way - a week or so for the upholstry and a few more for finishin touches and the Nov target will loom into view!!

Weather is yuk for Sunday guys - COMP POSTPONED until next weekend - 14th Sept. Adam

Chaps, Sunday is meant to be the re-scheduled Lure Comp. The weather is once again looking hard to call, as it is forecast to blow like hell until early Sunday morning, then drop and switch to the North. The water is likey to be damn murky though due to the blow, so I'm eering on the side of postponing once again - however, I'll post on Sat morning with the decision. Cheers Adam

Yep - of course!! Came from Marine Window fabrications, and are coded. If they dont sit level, then sod all we can do now as they are in!! They dont leak at the moment with all the rain we have had or a hosepipe, and they are only held in with a hand full of screws - but thanks for the heads-up. I know - but it wont get coded straight away, and if it does then we swap to a metal bowl. Adam

A few more toys added last night.

Its been a busy few weeks and she is starting to look more like a water ready boat each day. The engine will be going in, in about 3 weeks time. All of the 'toys' for the wheelhouse have arrived from a uber helpful Matt Sydenham of MES Ltd in Poole. 99% of the dusty, smelly glass work is done. Still on track for a November launch.

Craig Willis the comp organiser for Burnham has contacted me today - he is coming down on holiday between 8th and 12th September with his boat - a Predator 165. He is looking for either crew or a buddy boat, and ideally wants to target bream or livebaiting for bass. Anyone up for it? Post here or PM me and I'll drop his number to you. Cheers Adam

Comp is ON. But all skippers please keep and eye on the weather - SSW 4-5 are forecast later in the day with Sea state moderate or rough, esp. on the offshore and exposed reef marks. Tight lines!

So - Question: Who is fishing the comp who wouldnt have been able if it was on a Sunday? IE has the Sat comp made any differance? Good to see this comp weel supported... and no charlie - french bass dont count...

Sorry Boys - this is becoming a bit of a habit of late... SUNDAY'S COMP IS POSTPONED UNTIL 7th SEPT It's been an easy call this weekend and I'm sure no one will argue... Outlook: 0700 Sun 17 Aug 0700 Mon 18 Aug Wind Westerly backing southerly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 later. Sea state Moderate, occasionally rough. Weather Rain or showers. Visibility Moderate or good, occasionally poor. Cheers Adam

The only differance with mine was the pump mounted slightly lower - pretty much level with the bottom of the hull. The rule brackets have elongated bolt holes which allow about 1/2" lateral movement to get the best set-up.

Both Blue Warrior and Out of the Blue ( my last two boats) had water pick ups that operated right up to 30 knots but wernt through hill skin fittings. Simple system - a rule bilge pump sat on a sidemount fitting also from Rule. Easy to fit, no holes, cheap, neat instal and very, very effective. This time round though - Ive drilled a hole!!

Nice report Tom - sound awesome. You didnt do a bad job of the photos - its a bit of a nack. If you have any you want clearing up, send them over - Photoshop can work wonders on underwater images. Of course........ I'd rather come with you, even if it wasnt to fish, I could bring my gear and do the underwater photos? (i'd rather fish though!!)

Sorry for the late call guys - another tough decision, so left it as late as possible. COMP IS OFF - POSTPONED UNTIL SAT 23rd AUGUST Sorry chaps. Metoffice are giving SSW 4/5 sea state moderate. Wave height 1.2m and with the quarry being Bass, I want the usual races and reefs fishable to make it a good comp. If it went ahead most boats would be sheltering inshore. Adam

A Sony T50 or a Fuji F31 both here with underwater housings to 40m if you want them. Usual arrangement - you break it you buy it! Adam

Tides are lovely, but the forecast isnt. At the moment SW 4/5 poss. 6 so keep an eye on here as I'll make a call as soon as possible. Adam

Me too. I now have a big lure box and keep the different varieties together, or just keep them in the packets they came in. I think the reaction is silicone and latex. Adam
