The word through the Marine Federation is that they are in full discussion with Europe, to try to make sure that they are not going to hit us with further restrictions. France are not likely to make it any further limits , although they are very strict on taking spare fuel [Red Diesel] in containers. Belgium sound determined to stand firm on this , so Rob may be right Do not go there in your boat [Not sure who would want to anyway] Charlie

Lets see the picture then

Not sure of the answer James It could have been the east in the wind or the very small tide Only a week before they had found plenty of decent ones in the same area. We were hoping for much better than this. LOL Perhaps the area has been trawled and this one slipped through the mesh Charlie

Nice report and sounds like the title of the thread is spot on. Well done Chris

Nice to be back afloat again. Even with my cold hanging on. Dan and the crew made the trip possible for me, by sharing out the worst jobs and leaving me in the cabin making Tea an early start saw us motoring through the flat calm harbour at cruising speed [dont you love it when they take off the speed limits] But outside was a bit lumpy so we stayed close. First mark and we anchored alongside another boat. It did not take long and Ben was in , a nice Blonde [Well over 15lb] hit the net. Good start While I was getting the scales Ben put her back. Not sure of that tactic, but hey they had plenty of bigger ones last week in the same spot. We fished on through the kennel Club, but as the tide died so did the fishing. Other species were about [Macs, garfish small tope Bass] but not rays. At lunchtime we moved further East before enjoying one of Wills lasagne's and more tea. The rod tips were staying busy, more species [We had a really big garfish and some good size mackerel]and a few small rays arrived. All female Blondes, we had six in total but the Best weighed was just 6lb 10oz to Dan. At the 7 hr mark we called it a day due to my cold and set off home, Not a long session by our standards but a good day to be afloat. I hope that someone is holding back on reporting a really good fish, or Ben is really going to be kicking himself. Charlie Charlie

Please be aware that even if it is recovered ,you need to prove its your property, if you can't these scum will not be prosecuted , they will keep it, that's what they rely on. For this reason alone, it is worth doing the smartwater or other DNA tagging Charlie

Just seen this, gutted for you mate Hope that you get what you want, without to much grief from FPO. Have a good look into all of the costs before you commit, Bigger boats certainly have advantages, but these sure do come with a price tag. I hope the police catch the bastards Charlie

Good luck all Tight lines Having just returned from two weeks in the sun our Garden is in dire need of some attention. So will have to take priority. If the weather is good Dan and I are going to try to ft in an oil and filters change on the boat as well. If we get there we will listen on 6 Charlie

Before we go on Holiday on Sunday I have a pass for some fishing on Sat I think Wendy just wants me out of the way. Sam is busy, Dan may be available So this means I could crew for someone who has room, or I could have room for two on Alfresco. Its a good tide and a good forecast so maybe its time to buddy up with another boat, to push out a bit again. If I get crew that is You know the routine Please get in touch Charlie

Unless they have penelty clauses in the design and build contract, that would allow for a redesign and fund the building of a fixed bridge, what is the point of this. Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has gone. what idiot thought that another lifting bridge was a good idea, hard to operate, costly to maintain, potential to fail with massive effect on traffic on the roads and the water. What a day We were up early to try and get the tide flow right, out to the mark in very bouncy conditions. Bait located and ready to go, and thats about where the plan went astray We moved a few times but only found two bass, both caught by Sam and the biggest [if that is the right word] 2lb 9 oz Hard work out there yesterday, I was shattered in the evening. Thanks to Graham and Craig for joining us, Craig for the excellent Beef stew and dumplings that we got to eat when we came inshore in the afternoon. Well done Rob for what sounds like another winning fish. A really cracking fish and nice to see that it went back in. Charlie

Well done Ben Oh and of course the two skippers of Dawn Raider I hope that as he grows he remains keen, it would be good to see his fish recorded Nice one As Martin says it brings back great memories of my boys.
