Both my Lowrance and my new Garmin sets do not seem to need any anti glare screens, and my wheelhouse has plenty of windows and light. But I do have a screen on my touch screen phone, as protection against scratching.

Have struggled for days trying to get post replies to go on, I think this one will Paul Is it possible to put an idiots guide [For me] to a few pointers for using the New one on the home page please. also the minutes of the Feb meeting I posted on here, make it look like the page width is set very narrow, or margins to wide. {they view better on the old forum]

Because of the way I use my current sets, by stabalising my hand on the side and pushing buttons with my thumb that is what I recomend. Although teh touch screens looked great at the show , using them at sea may be a bit hit and miss Just my opinion , I have never used one Charlie

Alfresco Tigerfish Without wishing to take over the organisation but knowing how busy Adam is, I have talked to contacts on the Island Mainbrayce chandlers have confirmed that they will have two water taxi's running on the dates and all moorings should be in by Easter. They have also confirmed that price discounts will be the same as previous years for diesel fuel and the water taxi. Mainbrayce are the duty free shop on the island, order it early during the stay and they deliver to the boats by water taxi. Other boat bits can also be bought from them VAT free, if you are going and looking to get something for your boat give them a call 01481 822722 or 07781 415420 I have also spoken to Mark at Alderney Angling [same applies re VAT free tackle] He only had accomadation available on the Friday night, I have booked all 6 spaces that he had available [for B and B] in case members need it [only 2 of those will be required by my crew] I am awaiting a reply from emails sent ref other accomadation Hope that helps Charlie

Hi all Well my stand alone Radar unit packed up a week ago, and as it was a second hand unit over 5 years ago it is obsolete. if it could be repaired parts are as rare as rocking horse droppings and it could be a waste of time and effort. My first thought was get a scanner to run through the plotter [Lowrance Lcx 112c] But even the new kit fitted ready for the boats launch is out of date/obsolete. I could no doubt source the scanner, but is that just fitting old tech to the boat. So I could look at fitting another unit, probably Lowrance again. configured for Radar/plotter and just use the old combo unit as a stand alone fishfinder most of the time. At least I could turn it off over the wrecks I would gain a better radar, with overlay on the plotter for the vast amount of dosh involved. Does anyone use a broadband radar? How good are they? I have two meetings at the boat show on Thursday, so guess what I will be looking at for the rest of my time. Any advice before I go to the show may be useful Thanks Charlie

Calm down Matt, you will not get to May I have checked dates at work and we are in Better get some crew now Good idea to check out a trip first, but to be honest with so many Club boats around you would be guided/ looked after quite well. The islands have their own weather patterns and the tides can kick it up, but it is not a risky trip. BRING IT ON. [again]

Well we tried and I have a headache today from looking for the floats in all that sunlight. We started well with a couple of fish straight away, then a phone call from Dave about the winning fish nearly had me going home for lunch. Graham and I persisted but blanked for the last 5 1/2 hours [Why do we only do this once a year??] Our best went 1lb 10 oz, landed 2 and lost a tiny one at the side of the boat. Well done Kev for a great winning fish again, lovely to see her go back. I will add pictures later Charlie
