The little sods should be given a hard time when eventually they go inside. It may convince them not to go there again. I know how you feel, when we were on the Boat yesterday we noticed collision damage to the Stbd rail, she has been hit hard on the mooring. Not something you could do without noticing but no one has told us. Not easy to repair either Not quite as bad as thieves but close.

Did anyone see Hugh's Fish Fight on TV last night? It looks like 730,000 peoples combined voices are starting to be heard. While not an outright ban on discards , at least it looks like progress what do you think? Charlie

These are only eligible if you're fortunate enough to lasso one large enough to ride

I agree Likewise. The decision to exclude them from the Open comp was unfortunately made late, but IMHO is correct. As Mr Carrier says; "we prefer it if those engaged in recreational fishing complied with the spirit of the legislation". and as Rob says; "we should look after them as a club and keep on putting them back"

Good luck Nigel I have to disagree with MW , let her be part of the process under a little pressure from Lee to get the upgrade you are after. That way all should be happy with it. Good luck with the sale and the hunt for "wishin 2 do more fishing" Charlie

Not sure that I like the Idea of it being known as a Charlie day Well done on sorting it Nige, and of course to Humphrey for offering to help. As Martin says he may be grumpy at times but is definatly one of the good guys out there, and always willing to help anyone in problems. Next Sunday is the Club Bass comp, so that may enter your plans if going west. Charlie

Guernsey and back and I wasn't allowed to fish!
great white replied to TomBettle's topic in The Lounge
Rob didn't actually buy this boat from me. But he's sensible enough to know when it was getting the better of him and asked the sea school for some practical help. I would have packed my rods, but at 25 knots even the Channels Wahoo would struggle to keep up. On your point about the marine industry being "good", not me mate, have you not heard, I am the evil scurge of the industry after a foolish indescretion the other day! Prey tell Pm me -
There is some truth in that Pretty sure it would stop Sam and Dan

Time to get those 4 piece waveblasters into your overnight bag mate Sounds like another awfull day in the office, nice to see that the Marine Industry treats its customers so well and teaches them rather than just throw them the keys. Charlie -
Nice one Gordon Glad that you are back afloat and it sounds like there are plenty of fish to target Good to hear from you Charlie
-
Nice one Mate A lovely specimen, I always thought they were more coloured than that Not quite the "Caught it on float fished mackeral" that you told me on your way in But good reaction with the net Charlie
-
Colin when I was out last night after dark I picked up a mooring at l;ast light and made some tea Not far off was a small trawler pulling his net amazed to watch this being done at night in the harbour just at the start of the north channel when you get your new gearbox, why not paint both of them a really loud colour, so that they are so visable they are not worth stealing. Just an idea Charlie
-
Its a worry that all the Marine Police cover seems to be further West, ready for an event that starts in 12 months time. North Haven used to be so secure that the scum bags kept well away, It was a Member there that started the Harbour Watch. Have they still got the night vision equipment? Perhaps if its illegal cockling the Sea fishereries should be called if you see it again Charlie

same pump as we use so should work well Charlie
-
Not sure that flow makes any differance, I think its a good water exchange rate that is. I have two ways of filling mine, both use 3/4" pipe 1. a bilge pump on the end of a pipe that is lowered overboard. the other end of the pipe has been run around the top of the drum and has a bung in the end. 6mm holes are drilled underneath the pipe. when the pump is deplyed and on Water squirts down into the tank from many holes aerating it but without flow. 2. using the deck pump , I take the gun off and put the end in the tank. this method does induce a flow around the tank I have fitted a bigger discharge 11/2" about two thirds the way up, thus the supply can run constantly keeping baits and some caught fish alive.

As we are affiliated to BASS Please make sure that they get to know about it and send them a picture such good angling and catch and release is what they love to put in their magazines. Charlie

Trev You have a PM Sounds like we had better dust off some big kit

My two penneth Good luck to anyone who hooks one, if your luck is in it may be on suitable tackle to land it. I expect that it would be an Accidental catch rather than targetted. Maybe a livebait fished on tope tackle. I once had a full day on a game boat in the Indian Ocean, lovely boat, lovely weather but boreing fishing. Basically just sat around while the crew tried to get a hook up. The usual is often described as hours of boredom followed by short periods of excitement. Not my cup of tea really Charlie
-
Well I have just discovered that ccurrently the UK has no Bluefin quota and so it is illegal to target them which means that from now on I will be mainly fishing for Bass when using 9" plugs or livebaits on downriggers... As a recreational Sea Angler on a non registered private boat how are you affected by quota's?

Great fish George well done mate I bet Mum and Dad were as excited as you. It may take a few years to beat that one or you may do it today. Great to read that it swam away strong, it must have a charmed life to grow that big in French waters. Charlie

Its busy for me as well mid summer But you know you can count us in if we can get the time off, to combine with the weather. After all Dan wants round two Charlie

Great White was semi displacement at 23 ft and with 60hp shaft driven she had a max speed of 16 knots in reality loaded up and a little grubby underneath, 13-14 knots cruising revs about 12 knots, which gets you there eventually we had a great time fishing on her, and caught some great fish but rarely went more than 15 miles. We also limited drift fishing due to the slow return on big tides. She was a nice boat, a little slow but very good on fuel, we hardly ever had to add more than 25l drum a trip and never used more than 50l Charlie
