We are in DEEP trouble... The population of this country is approximately 60 million. 32 million are retired. That leaves 28 million to do the work. There are 17 million in school or at Universities. Which leaves 11 million to do the work. Of this there are 8 million employed by the UK government. Leaving 3 million to do the work. 1.2 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with killing Osama Bin-Laden, and fighting in Afghanistan .. Which leaves 1.8 million to do the work. Take from that total the 0.8 million people who work for Local County Councils. And that leaves 1 million to do the work. At any given time there are 488,000 people in hospitals or claiming Invalidity Benefit. Leaving 512,000 to do the work. Now, there are 511,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And there you are, Sitting on your arse, At your computer, reading jokes. Is it any wonder that we are in such a mess and that I am stressed out through trying to cope all on my own?

Garry are you and Lee up for a trip offshore? 25 miles out + we would probably drift for pollack/cod but I expect the hook to get wet at slack water [depends how the drifting is going] to give the snakes a bash. Probably live up to our reputation for a long day, but the weather forecast looks good. Give me a call 07887 794716 Charlie

Hi all Looks like next wed it is then are we all taking charts etc or is someone bringing a laptop? Do you still have the few marks we listed from last year for the way over or should I print a few? I have just ordered some kit from Mark at Alderney Angling, some is being sent but I am collecting more bulky kit when at the Island. If you are after mail order you may want to check their website, if it helps avoid postage charge and you are not coming on the trip, I could bring it back for you. Charlie

Hi Adam is that on JV or onboard with us? I am sure we would find plenty to discuss but better warn Rach you may be out of range for the phone Charlie

Sundays tides look good for a trip further out we will register to fish the comp as well, as its a BFM qualifier and that ought to have support. Not yet sure of crew, so far its just Dan and I, [sam is Due on leave but has four weeks of stories to tell his mates and some pubs to visit ] I think Gordon intends to concenrate on the comp, So if anyone fancy's a trip after the pollack, cod and eels let me know. I will confirm exact targets when the weather is known. but some drifts to polish up techniques prior to trip to the islands sounds good. If other boats are thinking of pushing out also let me know, after Toms rope push at the weekend it would be good to know who is out there and maybe we could buddy up or just keep in touch. Post phone email or PM Charlie

Good to see you back afloat The fishing should start to pick up soon [We Hope] Charlie

Thanks Adam Bringing it to the top and updating those that can no longer make it was just what I was after. Love the idea of a Pub meeting, can we try and set date/time/venue Charlie

Great to hear that others are still joining in and Tom is sorted for the trip Lets hope that we get the weather to go Can we have an updated list of those going and there fuel requirements I will in touch with Alderney again to talk prices I will start it off again Alfresco going for the 4 days 3 nights, leaving Poole about 0600 on the 1st May intend to fish mid channel on the way over and possibly anchor [weather permitting] Cruising speed 18-20 knots on a good day Crew of 5 3 sleeping onboard 2 ashore will need 200-300 ltrs diesel fuel minimum Charlie

Happy Birthday Jim Have a good one Charlie

Nice one Adam I have been keeping an eye on reports Look back at last year to get an idea for May, we even get a mention Charlie

No need to worry how you sound, we would rather plan and prepare than have someone in trouble on the trip. I will try and sort in order When we arrive in Braye we take vacant moorings and let the office know, I am trying to pre book but that is not the normal process so it may still be 1st come first served. The boats last year left in pairs to fish mid channel on route, [except Duncan who went a day earlier]. This year we are yet to confirm who is going with who, we will need to know where and when you intend to set off, what cruising speed etc, and probably what you would like to fish for on route over. Accomadation has been sorted by those staying ashore in a variety of places , so I will leave others to advise. The forecast will be observed very closly for the next couple of weeks, last year we had a 4/5 SE on the way over but dropping wind strengths over the weekend so we went. If it is reasonable we will go, but in the end each skipper/crew will have to make their own decision assisted and guided by others. I for one would still go if the trip was shortened to three days. if Friday or Monday weather was poor. Less than that and I would probably stay here but try and fish locally on the best day/days instead of Alderney Last year we got together to gather fishing info prior to going, [as I had never been over in my own boat]. but each day we stayed in comms and company and shared a lot of info at night in the Pubs. Again if you can offer an idea of the type of fishing you like to do and species we may be able to add information. I hope that helps Charlie Duncan If we can help with anything pre trip on the boat let us know

Hi Tom Very sorry to hear the news I feel bad as we were afloat but could not help. we failed in all efforts to communicate but as we only had very broken comms it was about impossible to know if we could assist. We heard that you were on Channel 6 from Alun and Simon, but heard nothing ourselves, we also heard part of your transmission saying you were under tow to weymouth 13 miles out. If there is anything we can help with please ask Charlie

Thought you would know Pete

Tight lines Alun I will give you a call on our way out Charlie

Hi Duncan Sorry to hear that mate, I hope that you get well soon and start to get a chance to come down to Poole. If there anything we can help with let me know. Charlie

Welcome Seaspark I hope the leg is fully mended son and we see you afloat. You have taken a good decision to join the Club, the more you join in the faster you will gain the knowledge about the local fishing Very tight lines Charlie
-
We have everything crossed that they are right, Martin gets his engine sorted, PJ gets the all clear from his doctor and we can all get there, for some of the fantastic fishing the islands are famous for. Bring it on Charlie
-
Nice game We hope to go out late morning Sat and try for early bream to the West, maybe pushing out a bit[??] around slacker part of the tide. Would love to have come with you Tom> But not sure where you will be by the time we set off, as we need to wait until Dan finishes his driving lesson at 11. PM me the numbers and I will see if I can find you Just three of us going so I have room for another. If anyone fancies it call, pm or post. Charlie

Big tides again over the long easter weekend. But who is going out, when and what do we think are the best targets in these tides. I am working Sunday so that should see the wind drop for the rest of you But the boat went in today so I expect we will sneak out somewhere Tight lines Charlie
