No doubt we will have a couple of options. Main plan 1st May straight to mid channel, bait fish then anchor ether side of slack Then on to look at a couple of marks enroute to the islands. Hopefully PM will see us anchored near the island Day two and three on the banks [Mostly ] Last day, Head home drifting some of the marks noted on the way over or stay in company with others. [possibly check the starfish grounds if we head east on route] Charlie

Hi Adam I know its not the smallest neap, but the springs in april show 0.8-6.2 so I believe it is much better than that and last year. Charlie

Hi Adam Not sure if I am reading them wrong but Poole tide tables are showing neap tides for 1st May bank holiday. We are looking at eeling on the way over on the 1st, not sure what time slack is mid channel but the size of tides certainly look better than last week. Has anyone got a program on their PC that could give times of slack water on that weekend? Cheers Charlie

Well I must say we enjoyed it, I also spotted the reels changing Wendy likes Robson so she enjoyed the skinny dipping Dan and I were in fits of laughter at various stages, when he ran up the ladder showing how an actor does it and when the other Kayak fisherman told him how to deal with a fish "Drag it on to the top and smack the shit out of it" The commercial fishing looked a bit too extreme, obviously they take quota's seriously in Canada when you see them throwing halibut back. Hi Adam As Dan says the new rods are yet to be tested but the write up mentioned that they bend very well, but cope well with big fish. a 10/20 used on big tope. Time will tell Pete the other old rod that Dan refers too is an old ugli stick all roller 30lb, a hefty piece of kit and definatly a big fish rod. It must weigh 3 or 4 times more than the new one. and was heavy when first used with a diawa 600 and wire line. The modern approach seems to be light weight rods Graphite reels and braid. Charlie

Its worth checking the cost I have some tackle all risks on my house policy. I know that does not help you at the moment, and no intention to rub salt in. But others may want to consider it, we seldom have all the gear in one place butt is mostly covered and I do not think it added much cost to the policy. Charlie

Hi Jim Good advice about the pre filter. They are so simple to fit its not really a job that needs an outboard engineer. Just be sure to get the right size unit for the flow rate and the right micron rating. Be aware also that some use very expensive elements and others of simular size/ rating do not. Charlie
