  1. Yes mate Dan can certainly eat and has grown.
  2. Most pictures show small Children with nice big fish. This one has my 6 ft 5 son Dan with the smallest conger I have ever seen, perfect miniature and still a bit feisty. LOL
  3. Could someone rotate the image please.
  4. Thanks Jim The flyer I was trying to copy had charts showing the routes for CTC and CPC courses I believe thats CowesTorquayCowes and CowesPooleCowes
  5. Just received a notice about a race on 25th August event website is http://cowsestorquaycowes.co.uk/ For some reason I could not copy info and chart of route that goes around the bay and Durlestone Point
  6. Thanks Ian Glad you enjoyed it, I sure did
  7. Not compared to where you go on holiday, its about 15 miles from entrance I bet that groundbait would sure help
  8. Thanks Steve Brand new 300m of 50 braid only loaded Friday so I knew I had room to play, but a 6/0 uptide hook is OK for Tope but not that big boy. If we get out there again may go up to stronger hooks or big circles
  9. Saturday started well enough with three boats heading for wrecks 20 miles out, bait fishing went well in Swanage so off we go, trouble was it was a little breezy and the water was a bit coloured and nobody had a single fish. Dave and I decided to anchor the deep gulley, I believe Dave and Mick struggled for bites but we seemed to get a few Started with some Huss, best 9lb to Ian, then some Tope best 28lb to me. We were just about to move to try and anchor a wreck and Dave was pulling his anchor to come over when I had another close encounter with the Poole Bay Monster on my tope rig. looking down I could see colour and thought it looked odd, then I realised a F~~~~ng big Porgie was swimming straight at the boat, she hovered alongside for a little while as I barked all sorts of instructions at my poor crew to fetch a camera wind up the lines etc etc, then she decided that she didn't like sunlight and set off for Portland. By the time 200 metres of braid was off the reel I decided to up the drag, but all that did was straighten a 6/0 hook. I then got a bit focused an another go with some bigger hooks, so had to tell Dave I was staying put. we carried on catching plenty of Tope but the big fish did not return Sorry if I messed up your plan Dave, but it was a very big Porgie, at least 8 feet long and I got a bit excited
  10. Blimey Jerry that was quick Have not recovered enough from another bouncy day to report anything yet Well done Mike , we did not get anything like a 100% fish
  11. Thanks Mal
  12. I have decided not to take Alfresco to Cherbourg this weekend due to the forecast on Sunday and to give my crew chance to cancel accommodation and not lose deposits. Ian Alan and I will be out wrecking on Saturday with a decision to be made later, about what we do on Sunday. My favourite competition so tight lines all
  13. Oh dear Dave Maybe those days of passing food around the fleet have passed
  14. Alfresco will be taking part, weather permitting Hoping to raid French waters, but if weather breaks we will fish this side
  15. until

Alfresco will be joining in with Wendy and I would be great to have some other Members joining us
  16. Great news that you got afloat Jim The other bits are just the side effects of owning boats, must remember your tips ref Crying and Wailing. Lol Hope that you get out with your rods soon. Charlie
  17. most tackle shops have a drop in service. I know that Wessex angling used to, the repair guy used to pick up on a Wednesday and drop back a week later. worth a call to the shop Mick to see if they still do this
  18. Brilliant Well done all and good luck this year in the competition.
  19. I painted mine from new, as do most if not all people with out drive legs at the Yacht Club Initially Primed with primacon and then I used Trilux anti Fouling which I was not that happy with I now use International Interspeed, in a lighter colour than the hull so I can see when they start to weed up. You will see a massive difference in performance and fuel consumption when the hull and legs get weedy
  20. Look for areas that are deeper gulleys or holes 35 or more metres deep anchor to fish into the deeper bits, get some fresh baits into the hole and the tope should come. Once you get them feeding reducing the size of baits makes the takes more positive
  21. How far west are you coming Neil? and is it open ground or wrecks for conger?
  22. Thanks Dave Glad that you found that old research and is was useful Keep up the good work Charlie
  23. we run a lot of Yamaha 80's at work without too many issues. They are the mid range, IE same engine/block can be uprated to 100HP. We stick to the set up for 80HP as it stopped them getting trashed. The Marines used the Suzuki 2 stroke 140's and they were OK. and boy could those lads trash kit.
  24. As someone who feels chuffed when I tag together a few clips to get a short video. I was really impressed when I saw this one tonight, a really different view of catching a big Marlin
