  7. Re crewing for Paul D So that's why he makes me sit on the bonnet in me underpants!! And I thought he was just kinky Mad Mike
  8. A wise decision Martin it a bit windyblow for a safe and comfortable trip. Mind you if you were desparate to get out wouldn't Portland harbour give you sheltered fishing? Mad Mike
  9. Looks a bit like an Arvour if I've spelt that right. Is it set up for an inboard or an outboard engine? If an O/B I reckon that one would need to be talking about an 80hp at least. If it was an inboard about a 150HP petrol or a 225HP diesel. Mad Mike
  10. Being a cheap skate (and proud of it) I always look for an inexpensive way out of a problem. I think that bespoke marine parts are a rip off generaly and that there are many automotive equivalents. I would try taking the pipe and the terminals to 'Thread & Pipe' at Elliot Road Trading Estate (Near Wickes) in all probability they will be able to duplicate what you need instantly and for a few bob. Mad Mike
  11. Some will have a much shorter report than others ................ Meeyooww! Mad Mike
  12. My son works for Abbey Bil' Soc' Ooow er! Is it scandle ??? I can't wait to hear. By the by I hope you got it all returned? Mad Mike
  13. Hi Duncan, just dive in mate and enjoy. Mad Mike PS Mariner made a very nice 16ft moderate V hulled day boat that would take up to an 80 HP O/B. I think they did a smaller version and I would guess that a 50HP would be as high as one would want to go on that sorta size.
  14. When I was a lad and we lived in Fowey (Cornwall) for a time. The method the local bass fishermen used was an old barrel with a small bung/. The barrel was filled with sea water and the bung removed. As the water slowly trickled out the water level needed topping up every 10 or 15 min'. This constant refreshment of sea water kept the supply of live sandels going all day. This was in the 50's mind and we didn't have all the electric gubbins that is available today. Mad Mike
  15. I was crewing for Paule D on Neo. We went out from Lymington in the full knowlege that the weather could be worse. And we were right, it got worse! Mind you Neo proved what a steady little craft she is and as I sheltered in the cuddy Paul got soaked. Fishing wise it was rather poor I got the complete set of LSD's like plaster ducks on the wall five of them going from about 1lb down to 10oz. When we returned to the slip we found that most of the other fishing boats had also returned due to the wind and rising sea state. We also discovered that 5 doggies was not bad for the day at that venue. Most had drawn a blank or only had one or two LSD's.
  16. I can do it Paul no prob' Mad Mike Ps do you want me to pay for it and then you reemburse me?
  17. Is that so? I wonder why, is it the flexibility factor I wonder? Do you have the reasons Bob? It's just my curiosity and to add to my own knowlege. Mad Mike
  18. Paul (D), it does look like is will be quite windy tomorrow, particularly with a force4 west wind against the tide for most of the day. Being a fair weather fisher (not like some of the brave soles here) I am wondering if you still want to go? I can easily stick the bait in the freezer for another day Mad (but cowardly custard) Mike
  19. ( I could squeeze a third on but it will be a little cramped and my boat is slow enough with two, let alone three ). Is he casting nasturtions about me wieght? I can't help it I'm just big boned Mad Mike
  20. Nothing quite beats the car regestration number and lights screwed permanently to the rear of the boat As seen on most slipways during the summer silly season....... Mad Mike
  21. 50kg is what? 110 lbs or 8 stone which is about the weight of a small person. So I think the answer is no it wont make much differance if at all and if you were in a situation so bad as 8st would make a differance then you were pushing your luck anyway. However I would say that a 4 door would probably hold a better resale value. Mad Mike
  22. Or for that matter 6 knts in 18 inches of water!
  23. I had some once.......... I put it down on the setee and the bugger vanished Mad Mike
  24. With your current run of escapades it sounds like you need a calm sobering flatulence aboard..... So I'm yer man Sor Yes thank you for the invite I would love to I'll do the bait thing if you want and we will talk nearer the day?? Mad Mike
