Neal Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 I would not recommend Towergate Mardon after my recent experience! Neal Quote
Gus-Honeybun Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 cheers all got them on the case now Quote
biggcol Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Sorry Neal but I have to say Towergate were excellent. They payed out in full within a couple of weeks of entering the claim for my stolen gearbox. I would recommend them to anyone, superb service at a good price. Colin Quote
Rob Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 I too have had great service from Towergate / Mardon Marine. Quote
Freddie Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 I have used Towergate Mardon for 25 odd years now and they are competitively priced and very professional. The conditions of insurance for them are: your engine locked to the transom and that you always have a good wheel clamp on. (I use a hitch lock as well) Happy boating.... and tight lines. Quote
Graham Nash Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Touch wood I have never needed to claim but I changed from Towergate Mardon to Fowler Penfold Marine this year and got slightly better cover at a slightly better price. Hopefully I wont need to claim again this year so I hope not to find out how good they actually are! Quote
Rob Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Hopefully I wont need to claim again this year so I hope not to find out how good they actually are! I think you have summed up everyone's thoughts there Graham! Freddy' sounds like me too! I have required engine lock (volcano), and wheel clamp & also add hitch lock. I do also find that DataTag with smart water + numerous RFID tags in hull and engine adds to the sense of security! In the hope the scum bags jog on to else where!! Rob Quote
DommyBoy Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Hi guys, Thanks for your posts here and it's good to see some of you are coming to us for quotes etc. We do try to be as accomodating as possible and we have agreements from insurers that PBSBAC referals get a discounted rate than others, that coupled with us removing our broker fee should hopefully save a few quid from competitors. I worked for Towergate Marine as a Marine Trades Underwriter for a few years and I know their policy inside out and I admit they are good, yet at the same time they don't claim to be the cheapest either. Towergate Mardons in Shrewsbury have a good established set up too, but their markets are very slim based on the fact they have set binders with only 2 insurers so they cannot go open market where as independent brokers like ourselves can and we can go to say 6 insurers directly thus getting quotes across the board. I used to underwrite policies for Mardons so know them very very well, but as a fellow member and a local marine broker it would be nice to see a few more of you guys n gals checking us out and seeing what we are made of lol www.fowlerpenfoldmarine.com 01202 854557 As I said, its good to see some of you guys are coming to us and I hope we can offer our insurance knoweldge to you and save you some money..... Thanks Dom Fowler Penfold Marine Quote
Jim Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Hi Dom, I would have come to you this year but due to family stuff, I only had time to let my previous cover continue. I WILL give you a go next year. Good luck. Jim Quote
