Hi Jim

Thanks for the thought but the wind is supposed to get stronger as the morning goes on so you need to as you say get on with it earlier

so hopefully not encounters of the choppy kind good luck

Looking at the forecast and considering Jim is the one flying a grands worth of kit around, I suggest he makes the call Fri / Sat? At 15mph max we will need a nice calm day?

Hence I proposed to use the shelter of Arne.

Or with the swing of the wind, the southern part of shell bay, sheltered behind Old Harry.

That won't drop the wind though will it rob? At the height Jim will fly at it will be constant? Plus 10 knot speed limit makes filming very restricted?

Just to add to confusion..........  Sun's forecast looks very similar to today's.

I went out about 7.30 expecting calm and wind to increase around coffee time. Well it was all different !

A fresh E to NE at first....but sea state was slight. Wind gradually went more E to SE and faded away to lovely gentle conditions...and wam !!

I'll need some advice from more seasoned boaters tomorrow please.

11 mph easterly showing at the mo.

The wind is fine at that speed but no shelter anywhere from the waves.

Let's see what it looks like at about 3 ish tomorrow and decide then.

Please give me your views then as to whether we go ahead or cancel.  And yes it's my decision so if my drone goes scuba diving it's my own fault.

Thanks in advance.

The waves aren't an issue, and conditions for the boats are more than safe enough, my concern is dragging a dozen or more club skippers and boats out early on a Sunday morning only to find the gusting wind is too much and we have to abort.

Just looked at Wind Guru.

9:00 tomorrow morning for Studland Bay:   Wind 10 mph    Gusts 15 mph so still OK.

I'll check again later.

I've been out this morning and it was glorious. However back in now and really windy!

Charlie is out on Alfresco as are a number of other club boats so they should be able to report back later on conditions.

All of the weather sites are showing 12 mph E.S.E. wind  with some saying 17 mph gusts   and others saying 25 mph gusts.

I think it's doable so We're On !

Do we want to meet up inside or outside of the Harbour and what time ?

Do we want to film inside or outside of the Harbour before going on to Studland or Old Harry?

Wind / weather sites still showing OK for tomorrow.  ;)

Just spoke to Kev ( I'm in )

He fished the comp today. He said it was OK this morning and blew up this afternoon.

Similar tomorrow but not so calm as today early on.

If the forecasts are accurate we'll be OK.

Yes Rob.

Sorry should have replied earlier.

The Alderney ring demo probably would be a good idea.

Bring the necessary and we'll see if we can fit it in.  ;)

Bridge lifts will affect many, so 7:30 or 8:30 I guess.

Thoughts?

Forecast looks stable until the bigger gusts I the afternoon so perhaps a more relaxed 8:30 bridge?

The slightly later start would suit me, I haven't been able to get the boat launched tonight so will have to get it launched in the morning, plus I'll have both kids.

If it's 7.30 I may miss the drone battery length, not something I want to do if I've driven and hour and got the kids out of bed at 6.30.

Early start today to beat the forcasted wind

in Swanage there was only gentle breeze all day

I am sleeping on board and meeting Will at about 7.30

Happy to push out to test the weather. But not if all the others are going to Arne

Coming back this afternoon it was much worse in the swash than in Swanage bay

Can someone text me the details as I will turn the mobile data off later

Thanks
